Demonizing the deportation of illegal immigrants, feel free to add in your two cents or put forth your views on the topic...

To start off alot of people are up in arms about the deportation of illegal immigrants but what most people don't seem to understand is the reasoning behind deporting illegal immigrants in the first place or the impact or stress illegal immigrants put on our social services and programs. Illegal immigrants come to America and while some do most don't pay taxes, and get employed at jobs and are paid "under the table" or "off the books" so they don't get taxes taken out of their pay which only hurts Americas social services programs and cost the working people more in taxes. Now if illegal immigrants are given certain social programs and aren't putting money in to those programs in the form of taxes then we have a problem as more people are taking money out then whats being put in. And that's the problem in a nut shell with illegal immigrants so I feel as though it shouldn't be demonized that we deport illegal immigrants as they are a contributing factor of the depletion of our social services and programs.

I definitely don't think that illegal immigration is a good thing, but I do think that we should at least give them a chance to become citizens rather than our main task being to get them out of the country.

Divine Aurora : The thing is being paid "under the table" as you described it is far from something that only occurs in the case of illegal immigrants. I'm not saying all illegal immigrants should be able to stay in the US (I'm not even from the US so it doesn't really affect me) but deporting them in order to stop that is not going to change much since it's unlikely to make people hire workers legally if they weren't already. Yeah they don't pay taxes but that in turn means they're also not getting the benefits of paying them so I don't see how that's hurting social services. What social programs are they being given that they don't have to pay for? As far as I'm aware the only exemptions are in extreme circumstances.

Illegal immigration is actually beneficial for the US since illegal immigrants typically take jobs few Americans are willing to. Actively hunting out and mass deporting them on the other hand is expensive and will likely have a significant impact on the US economy. So looking past the humanitarian aspect, whatever burden comes from the little aid they're given is likely outweighed by the costs of deportation and cheap labor they provide. It is also likely to further weaken relations with countries like Mexico that will be heavily affected by this.

Baritron : There's a reason we have laws, and why they are called "ILLEGAL immigrants." Also, there are proper avenues to becoming a citizen. That's like me going to a major cmpany, being there for a few days, and then when somebody realizes that I'm not actually an employee, being like "Well, you've been here for awhile, so we'll let you stay and make money, even if you aren't really an employee."

Thank you Baritron. If you want to come here, that is fine. Just do it legally. We have to take of ourselves before we take care of others. Because of illegals,we are forcing our emergency services among others to learn another language. (If you are going to come to the US,learn English.) They are also a strain on social services, they overwhelm the system with their willingness to breed like rabbits, they cause crime and commit illegal acts among other things.

Well seems like you didn't know the other side of their story. True that some illegal immigrants are doing bad things but do you know why this even started in the first place?

the number one reason is gangs, not just low level ones americans have seen but a organized crime gang. the government and/or police do not actually do anything since no one is paying the police and gang members are in the government helping cover their crime.

another is the country is very bad economic wise, which in turn makes the american dollar more valuable than mexico's, brazil's, and canada's currency combine.

Rumours is a small reason, it happen before and still continues. You know that great slogan americans made in the 1900's "American dream", ya you guys should be blame for this one. Plus, you still continue to say that which makes many people misunderstand why certain things aren't as seems.

It is not just north and south america content that has the exact same problem, middle east is effected the same way but with more bloodshed. So now you know what cause it but how to fix it? Well we can't that is the honest truth because it never easy to fix something that could lead to a bigger mess. However I do recommend some things:

1) If a family is illegal but have a good reason to stay in america, someone should interview them. Trying to run away is definitely the same as committing a crime.

Yes this doesn't solve immigrant problem but wouldn't it be better to save a family from getting killed.

2) Send troops to end wars.

The reason to own an army is to stop wars and protect everyone. Yes people will not like this but it is not your choice, the man and woman who volunteer to serve only have that right. The army US has is better than this, why would you ever consider not using it to stop terrorism. Yes people will lose lives and little change will happen since lone wolfs can exist but nothing will change if you never send the army to fix your mistakes.

It's not a war to (name country) if they are only killing ISIS.

Zlinqx : Illegal immigration is not beneficial to the US. It's not true that they take jobs that Americans don't want, they take jobs that Americans are willing to do, but for less money. Deportation should be an option for anyone who doesn't want to assimilate, but I'm not against starting a program to get illegal aliens to do community work in exchange for English classes and citizenship and a job that pays fair wage and is taxed. Anyone who continues to take advantage of the system and doesn't intend on becoming a citizen should be sent back, no exceptions. If you want to be an American, you have to pay taxes like the rest of us. No special treatment.

In addition to helping people who want to be here and getting rid of the freeloaders, we should also actively seek out and fine into oblivion every company that takes advantage of cheap, off the books labor. The company is more at fault for a smaller amount of jobs for Americans than the alien. You can't blame someone who's trying to survive and provide, but slave wages and tax dodging are inexcusable.

You are right M0ssb3rg,it does us no good. They do not pay taxes, drain the social services system, and have their ways forced on us through bi-lingual packaging, having first responders learn another language, and having things to accommodate them. Whereas, legal immigrants do not have those advantages provided for them.

If you come here,do it legally, learn English, pay taxes,do not breed (a few kids is fine, but most tend to breed like rabbits.),and most of all, remember you are in America now,you do things as we do here, not back in your country.

Now,I am going to play devil's advocate for a second. I agree with you on principal that companies should be fined for actively seeking out cheap labor or illegal labor. But consider this,if that company goes out of business, then the ones that work there legally are also screwed, which means no tax revenue. They should be fined for every one they have,be punished for every one that they seek out,but that is how you get cheaper products to market. It is a bit of a catch 22.

Whilst I feel that people are taking the extreme and outright hating and attacking illegal immigrants, and that's no good, I also don't like people demonizing a law that's been in place for a while.

Both extremes are bad, yes. But Illegal Immigrants are well...illegal. And they're a harm to the government. Not one illegal immigrant, but them as a whole.

But at the same time, the other extreme is also bad. Using "illegal immigrant" on the same slur basis as the N word, saying stuff like "having them force their ways on us" and "They keep taking our jobs" unironically, and outright attacking them personally instead of letting the government take care of it (You know, as it should) is also pretty bad.

But at the same time, attacking people who deport illegal immigrants, demonize the laws on illegal and legal immigration, and attacking everyone who doesn't believe illegal immigrants are gods (so to say) is also pretty bad.

Let's say there are ants in your kitchen, you round them up and deport them out your front door. Do you honestly believe this will keep them out? No, they will eventually come back to snack on free food crumbs that you had left on the floor.

As for the taxes... well there are plenty of Americans who don't pay taxes (either they have to little income to file or they have too big of an income and want to hide it from government). Illegals take jobs? News flash, every major corporation in America outsourced your jobs to illegals overseas so what difference does it make?

Trump said it best, we are not so innocent.

We too are illegals, murderers, drug cartels and crooks.

Divine Aurora : If they're getting paid under the table and escaping government regulation, why don't you think the problem is with businesses paying people under the table and government regulation?

Immigrants come here to work. That benefits businesses. If it didn't benefit businesses, why would businesses employ them?

The real problem with immigrants is not that they're illegal, but that they're costly. The cost is not really that they cause unemployment or do crimes or don't pay taxes, but that they extract a lot of welfare. The problem with illegal immigration isn't illegal immigration - it screws up our welfare system.

The solutions are obvious. One, reform the welfare system such that they don't get the benefits. Now there is less incentive for illegals to stay here. Or two, remove the welfare programs entirely so that they stop interfering with economics. I favor plan two to a degree. Basically, our current tax system is entirely inadequate. Sales taxes need to replace income taxes for lower incomes. Tax-free commodities will be the means for helping the poor.

Immigration is quite good, but doing it illegally is wrong. It creates more problems than it actually solves. That's all I'll add.

m0ssb3rg935 : I didn't say ALL illegal immigrants take jobs Americans don't want to do but that it is typically the case. They bring a different skill set to that of most Americans. You can argue Americans would do these jobs for higher wages and that may be true, but the jobs likely wouldn't exist if these low wages weren't possible. Overall the idea that they're stealing jobs from Americans is a faulty one, it's the lump of labor fallacy. An increase in the amount of workers subsequently creates an increase the demand for new workers as these illegal immigrants also need to pay for services in order to survive.

They're not taking advantage of the system because they're not being given the benefits of paying taxes. Sure they may receive emergency aid if they're close to death, but I don't see how that's actively being a freeloader. Few illegal immigrants are actually going to be in a situation where they try to take advantage of that. Meanwhile they make up a large percentage of the US workforce within industries like farming and construction, providing cheap labor meaning they certainly are contributing to the US economy. The fact that they're willing to do these jobs and at the level of pay they're given is part of the reason it's able to sustain itself in its current state.

Am I saying I agree with this being how it should be? No, not necessarily. I'm a socialliberal who support high taxes and I do agree that tax evasion is an issue that should be brought up more. However to portray illegal immigrants as pure "freeloaders" is a biased and faulty claim to make. In addition trying to actively hunt out and deport illegal immigrants is going to be very expensive and overall impossible to do. The focus should in stead be on examining bad company practices.

On another note, the interesting thing about people bringing up assimilation is that it's a view most share. I can see the reason behind it and I agree to a certain extent. However it gets muddy in terms of just what is considered to be "assimilated". Is simply having passed a citizenship test showing a certain degree of mastery in the language and knowledge about the country, or do you expect immigrants to effectively renounce their culture to some extent? I've noticed a lot of people argue that citizens who immigrated haven't assimilated simply because their way of living don't mirror one's own.
m0ssb3rg935 : I didn't say ALL illegal immigrants take jobs Americans don't want to do but that it is typically the case.

Oh no, guys, please, don't enforce the law! Please don't do it! We can't have rules. Please, look at these top 15 images and totally real sob stories that will have you saying "man, screw laws and borders". No, we gotta have even more people coming in, not paying taxes, and being welfare leeches their whole lives. Sure, millions of natural born citizens gotta work their whole lives for everything they have. But these people should have free internet, free satellite TV, welfare income, free housing, free cellphones, and free transportation. They don't need to support the government, they don't need to learn a word of English, they can be as violent and nasty as they want, as long as they feel comfortable. I don't know why we have so many racist sexist racist xenophobic racist racist racist xenophobic racist natural born citizens who aren't just thrilled about this. Bah, not like anybody cares about them. Stupid racists in flyover states...

Zlinqx : Assimilation is just becoming part of the system. Learning the language and conduction business in said language, paying taxes and being a legal resident citizen. You can practice your culture as long as it doesn't violate human rights.

If you're not paying income taxes, you're draining the system because our system is pretty much dependent upon income tax revenue. As Tx said, tax and welfare reform would pretty much solve the illegal alien problem economically speaking, but there's still the problem of documentation.

Let me ask you this: if I decide I don't want any social services, do I get to forgo paying any income tax? As wrong as it is, our government says no. There shouldn't be a double standard.

To me, there are three kinds of people in the United States: citizens, tourists and foreign students. Anyone else that's here that doesn't want to be an American shouldn't be here. Anyone that wants to be one of the three is welcome.

Ultrajeff : You're demonstrably wrong. Illegal immigration is good for our country, but only if it remains illegal. Milton Friedman, a stalwart limited-government republican, is pro-illegal-immigration, but anti-amnesty. The conservative position is not to put excessive government regulation on our borders, command the economy, or hurt businesses.

I don't know your level of education, but hopefully you can understand the below video. It's 8 minutes, but chalk full of real conservatism.

m0ssb3rg935 : It is done under the table because they don't exactly have an option. The path to citizenship can be a long and expensive one and that's if they are even considered in the first place because most people immigrating illegally are low skill workers. They are considered too poor to be let in unless they have relatives in the country or are war refugees. Companies know this so they take advantage.

I can admit that I've been paid under the table as a minor because the labor laws would make it very difficult for me to find a job and make any sort of money doing it otherwise. Many American citizens are paid under the table, so it isn't something exclusive to illegal immigrants. This IS a form of freeloading because citizens are getting the benefits without paying tax. My justification was simply that it was the only way I could have a job at that age since I do intend on paying taxes when I get older. Illegal immigrants are not freeloading in the sense that they receive but give nothing back because they aren't getting any benefits. They are not a burden on the economy since they actually benefit the US economy more than they hurt it unlike actual citizens who don't pay taxes.

So to clarify I don't necessarily agree with the situation at large. I just pointed out that illegal immigration does benefit the US economy in its current state and the claim that illegal immigrants are freeloaders who are stealing jobs is a false one.

The idea of immigrants being illegal is by itself the issue. There are a large amount of illegal immigrants mostly because of the huge amount of restrictions that's been put on the borders where some are very reasonable while others are very much whimsical. Most illegal immigrants are simply restricted from entering due to stupid biased profiling which is very much the reason why there are way too many of today's prejudice. We could say that the government is protecting the country from threats, but even with that being said, you can still say that it's also preventing the country from being safe. Some of the immigrants are abroad students who are studying at one of the universities within the states and you may  never know, but one of those people might find something great during his stay that would develop the country and saves millions such as a cure for cancer. It's still a speculation, but what would you rather choose? Being segregated from the whole world or taking the risk of those who are valid and safe?
