I recently downloaded a video in the .MP4 format onto the PS3. Unfortunately, the subtitles from the video did not appear when I was about to play the video in the PS3. I managed to download the video´s subtitles, in both its Original language and another one, and they are in .SRT format. Sadly, from what I heard, the PS3 does not seem to support the .SRT format. How can I add subtitles onto a .MP4 file? I´m afraid that I may have to convert the .MP4 into an .AVI, and I´m also afraid that that may lower the quality of the video.

With Freemake, you can hard code the subtitles onto the MP4 fairly easily.

First, I would suggest you get an older version of Freemake, so you don't get watermarks. (I use 3.1.9)

To add the subtitles:
1) Add the file in freemake using the +Video button.
2) Click where it says "No Subtitles" and select "Add Subtitles..."
3) Choose the .SRT file you want to use.
4) Click "to MP4" on the bottom, leave all the settings the same,
5) Choose a location/enter a filename and click convert.

Then you just have to wait for it to complete and the subs should be hard coded on your new file.

Vanelan : I would be using Freemake, but I already have the video downloader and the MP3 converter. Plus, I'm afraid that it'd be very hard to find the older versions of Freemake that you mentioned. Are there any alternatives that I can use?

TouchMaster97 : You can go to oldversion.com to find an older version.

I tried other programs in the past for video editing and freemake is by far the easiest.

TouchMaster97 : I get no such warning. Its not running HTTPS, so that may be why you get the warning.

Web of trust gives it a rating of 90. Vizzed is a 91.
I've been using them for years without an issue.

Well, can't say I didn't try and help...
