Welcome to my review of yu gi oh gx duel academy for the gba. This game is part of the original yu-gi-oh sequel series Known as the gx series. With all new faces and a school setting that focus on dueling Than what you expect from school based shows. The gx series has some new faces to duel against so don't expect to see yugi and the gang to pop up. To give a recap from the last yu gi oh game i revived for anyone here that isn't familiar with the franchise. It stared of as a card game in 1996 then a manga/anime series With a 3 movies under its belt currently, As well as video games. The franchise is created by Kazuki Takahashi who would be in charge of the rule of the game and the countless revisions to the real life game.

Story: i only gave the story a low score since the games base story is that the player is a student of the duel academy with the other lead characters from the anime. Nothing much happens then unless your lucky to be an event at a right time and place. With the game giving you 3 in game years to be in the school before the graduation on your 3rd year. So thats the game in a super nutshell forgive me if i skipped on any details

Gameplay: The game plays like your usual yu gi oh game with the 8000 life points and up to a max of 60 cards in hand. On weekends is where the player would get to pick who would they face by picking a location and find a character they want to duel with. The game has a heads or tails system like in so many games in the franchise with who goes 1st. At the end of the duel you'll gain duel points which serves as money in the game to buy new cards at the shop. The shop will bring new packs at a certain points as well with the calendar giving the player a list of upcoming events. like exams or new packs. Some events can be unavoidable depends on what house you fall into. Speaking of the houses You'll start off the orsis red house (The sky dragoon god card) And you only move house if you managed to pass your exams. Speaking about exams you'll rank up if you pass them. The exams come into two parts a written part with a ture or false part. And the main course the battle exam which has its own conditions Like use a lot of trap cards to frustrate the opponent. To magic cards It will be announced at the start of in game month with the exam at the end of the month.

The game also has Duel puzzles which puts the player in a situation with its own cards so don't expect to use your own cards. Totally optional on your own free time though. You can also request duels with some of the other characters as well if you can't find them only with a few characters from the get go. The character you'll dueling against will say something depends on how the fights go. With Crowler the staff member getting happy with direct attacking you or when his favorite monster gets killed as an example of this. At least it gets the characters personality from the anime into the game At least you have the freedom to pick who you want to face or avoid dueling for a while. The game week days has some of the characters will talk to the player or inform the player about a event. If the player is a duel heavy you can only duel up to 3 times a day on weekends since that's the only days you'll do what you want to do. I forgot to mention when building a deck the game will not allow certain cards or limits the cards you want. Say like Mirror force is green so that means you only allowed to have one of that card in your deck and the ones with the red meaning not allowed. But it will change over time Just like the real card game.

The reason why i didn't mention the difficulty is due to the cards being shuffled before you get your 1st 5 cards and your 1st draw. You could be lucky to get a good card from the get go or have a bad luck with the line up. Always remember one thing TRUST THE HEART OF THE CARDS!! (Sorry about that i wanted to do that )

Graphics: The graphics looks great for the gba especially on how it gets the looks from the characters form the anime with their expressions from wining to losing. As well them freaking out when your beating them down or over kill them with a monster that has way too much attack power on the finishing blow. As well the effect when the direct attack you as well as dominating you

Sound: the game uses the sound from the anime with a battle theme which has 2 versions a guitar version if you have found a way to change the ties of battle in your favour. Or a worry based on if your not faring well in the duel. The gba dose an great job on capturing the sound track from the anime

In the end the game is a fantastic game with a brave new world of duelists and retaining the original cards from the original series as well as new favorite cards. Till the next time i'll review game happy gaming

First off, congratulations for being the only person on this damned website to give your review for this game an actual title instead of lazily just using the games name. Second off, you actually explained the Gameplay category, which is unheard of on this stupid website. Your review format is like mine in that depth and addictiveness are part of the Gameplay category instead of being their own category. That's another big thumbs up! I do have some nitpicks, like how you misspelt Yu-Gi-Oh! every time you mentioned it's name and how your capitalization is quite flawed. That all aside, this is a really good review that definitely stands out among all the other lazy half-assed reviews on this stupid website. Oh yeah, I've noticed a few punctuation issues, as well. Be sure to fix the flaws I mentioned and you'll be a competent review writer for this website. Right now, though, it's good but needs some tuning.
