The Simpsons were renewed for a 29th and 30th season this past week meaning that The Simpsons have beaten Gunsmoke by 10 seasons (I think it was on from 1954-1974. Please correct if wrong but do know it ran from the 50's to the 70's) The 30th season of The Simpsons is considered record breaking. The next animated show to get the title of longest running animated show would be Southpark if The Simpsons end before them. If The Simpsons end and then Southpark ends as well then it would probably go to Spongebob.
