If you have ever been on a public computer, whether it's at a regular library, at school, or wherever, you probably know all too well about what I'm going to be talking about.

The keyboards suck. I'm not talking about buttons being missing, or sticky, or whatever, I'm talking about how you sit down in front of the computer to find that the keyboard is flat.

Why is it flat? Because those two little legs that are at the very end of the keyboard aren't up.

95 out of 100 times I reach back to put the legs down only to realize that one of the legs, if not both of them, are MISSING.

Sometimes it can get really bothersome to sit down at a table and type on a flat keyboard. But why does it happen? It happens far too often for it to be simple wear and tear, do people purposely ruin our lives?

I'm sure some of y'all had to have had trouble with these or have other reasons to hate public keyboards maybe?

I'm used to typing with flat keyboards since I never really use the legs even with my personal keyboard. As for the missing legs, it's just that many people suck at public utility maintenance and the legs are pretty easy to break, specially if a person types like a hammer or puts too much weight on their lower palm, making the keyboard carry their whole upper body weight.

What I don't like about public keyboards is the grease, is it really that hard for the personnel (or maintenance staff) to wipe the keyboard with some alcohol from time to time? Also, for those who are using the keyboard, for the love of God clean your hands first if you ate greasy foods using bare hands.

Juliet : I got the idea for the thread because it happened just a few minutes before I posted this when I was at my schools library. The thing is, my school upgraded everything the first week of the semester, new computers, new keyboards, Windows 10, etc. The maintenance here must be REALLY bad for them to fall off after less than two months.

I cannot blame you for that,I hate how unresponsive a public keyboard can be compared to my laptop. And I agree, wipe down the freaking keyboards and screens once in a while.

Oldschool777 : lol the unresponsiveness is a whole other issue. The thing about public computers is just that. They are PUBLIC. The "hosts" of the computers relay on grand, donations, etc and nowhere near all the funds can just go towards computers. Unlike private companies with tons of money, public place and might go on with the same computers for decades until they simply don't work anymore. (which is exactly why my school replaced theirs)

Pretty sure whatever tells the computer what buttons are being pressed fried years ago in many cases.

Next time, bring in your own keyboard from home so you can avoid this.

Pokemonfan1000 : wouldn't I have to use their keyboard anyway then? So I can set Bluetooth up? Which probably wouldn't be allowed anyway.

zanderlex : True. Then I suggest using the on screen keyboard that can be activated from Ease of access.
