What do you think is the most overrated mobile game? What game, either good or bad, gets too much hype, or too much money thrown at it,that it shouldn't be getting to that extent?


I would actually say Pokémon Go. I'll definitely say that it's a shame fun as the hype suggests, but honestly, the chaos that happened as a result of the game for weeks since it's release was really uncalled for. Things got way out of hand for a video game and people took it waaaay too seriously.

Pokemon Go is a unique enough concept for me to feel fine about.

On the other hand, Candy Crush Saga is pretty much just a ripoff of games previously like it, which are better. The one thing that comes to mind is Bejeweled 3.

Candy Crush is lame and needs to die if it isn't already dead.

yoshirulez! : The thing I don't like about the Candy Crush game s is the at they are basically a very short game that's stretches out more and more. It would be fine if it was a short game with only a handful of levels and the new you'd be done in a few hours. But by making it go on forever, the people who are into it can never stop playing. If you want to try to get into it, there's either no point because you know you'll never finish it, or the thought that people waste hundreds of hours leaves a bad impression. Then you either become forever addicted or hate it because of that's. Developers need to learn when to end a game.

I'd say just about all of them? Pretty much all free to play mobile games are pay to win which usually sucks the fun out of them for me. Where is the fun in playing when there's barely any actual skill involved? In no other type of games is this more obvious than in the "strategy" building games like game of war which is about 5% actual strategy and 95% whoever pays the most money wins. For the small price of 50 dollars and your dignity, you can steam roll 90% of the playerbase. Really if I had to pick just a single game in terms of awfulness that would be my answer.

If going based on pure hype though, I feel like many people who otherwise trash the mobile gaming market give Pokemon GO a free pass since it's well... Pokemon. I'm not saying it's a bad game, It't's a simple concept that works well enough, collecting different Pokemon, but it's by no stretch as amazing as many fans and reviewers make it seem. In particular with how it has some of the most unstable servers I've seen in just about any online game, which shouldn't be the case past the initial launch when a big company like Nintendo is funding it.

It isn't that unique either considering there are many similar games out there. When it came out you saw most people singing its praises and talking about how revolutionary it was changing society and how people interact with eachother. Now some months after it released and the hype is more or less gone, I barely see anyone play it anymore.

Initially, Pokemon GO was the first to come to mind, but when I thought about it for a minute I would have to say Clash of Clans and the 1000's of clones. (So, basically what Z said. )

They aren't particularly interesting and rely very heavily on the pay to win/build mechanic.

I haven't seen Clash of Clans commercials recently, but I have been seeing Mobile Strike (I think that's the name) commercials instead. Essentially the same game but more modern though.

Vanelan : I still see the ads quite a bit, both on TV, and as ads for the mobile games that I play, lol.

I'm a decent fan of Christoph Waltz, but I'm sick of seeing him in those commercials, which are pretty dumb anyway if you ask me.

Candy Crush and Anything Farm Hero- they took so much of my time lol. I hate them with a passion now. My pick is also Pokemon Go for the same reasons- the amount of car accidents is just unbelievable- people are stupid and then those that had pokemons in their backyard were ready to shoot ... seriously? Just bizarre and idiotic, it killed the game for me plus it kept crashing for me.

jlove92 : I have never heard of Farm hero, but I know of more than enough farm based games to get what you are saying, lol, there's so many of them too.

I personally find Candy Crush to be ridiculous, because it is a carbon copy of a game that existed many years before it, Bejeweled, and Bejeweled did everything that game did, but better. You also don't need to pay for turns in Bejeweled, you just buy it and play it as long as you'd like. It saddens me that the people behind Candy Crush have made so much money off of a watered-down copy of a stolen idea.

Almost every mobile game out there is pay to win, ridiculously oversimplistic "puzzle" games, or some other tripe.

Pokemon Go is a bit overly criticized. It showed some of the worst of humanity with property damage, robberies, a murder, and much more. None of this was Pokemon Go's fault, it is only a thinly veiled excuse people used to be awful, and then watched the media conglomerates blame the app, rather than the scum in human's clothing who caused disasters and injuries. On themselves and others.

I agree with everyone,Candy Crush is just overrated and overhyped.

Pokemon Go deserves some of the criticisms against it,such as idiots driving into oncoming traffic to catch a virtual thing. I heard of one story that a guy was playing it when it first came out and he had lost his job because of it. He was in a security type job and you are not to use your phone in the place because pictures could be taken of the place which compromises security.

Game of war is easily the worst mobile ´´game´´ of all time, and seeing as wallet strike is a blatant copy of it with a different skin, both will be sharing that same title.

Anyway, both can only be played by giving away your money. People forked over as much as $46000 just to get the overpriced premium membership, as well as getting further because if you don´t spend anything you have to wait for whole months or even entire YEARS just for timers alone. It angers me just thinking about how profitable those two scams are.

I'd have to say Pokémon GO. Granted I haven't cared about Pokémon in many years, I grew up with the first 150, plus 3 others that were after that, I know when the movie came out there was Togepi, and a few others, and it wasn't long after that I just gave up on Pokémon. I can also throw in Clash of Clans, I don't see what is so great, it's not awful, but I think it's overrated as well, and the micro transactions are not very good, etc.

I don't think this applies to present day, but back then, it sure did. Flappy Bird. How in the heck did this even get popular? Like I don't get it. Are people just dumb?

Angry Birds is the most overrated mobile game of all time. It was a huge fad that spawned a movie, console ports, and merchandise. Why did a game where you launch birds at structures get so popular??? Angry Birds is not only the most overrated mobile game of all time, it's also the most overrated video game of all time. Even more overrated than Call of Duty.

Clash of Clans and all of those parodies and copies of the game that came out after it. In fact, there are so many of them that are actually somehow gathering up players. It's the same thing with a different, cliche name, and most of it is P2P anyway. I don't see the appeal in them, but maybe the fact it's "strategy" based makes people attracted to it?

No offense to anyone who plays them, of course, but unless you spend tons of money on it, you'll be beat every time by someone who keeps buying accessories.

zanderlex : Really you are going with Pokemon Go? Strange choice considering it's one of the few Mobile games with a unique concept.

I would rather point towards any of those horrible RTS type games they advertise on TV all the time that basically the only way you can get good or progress is by spending a ton of money. Like Mobile Strike
