We all have attachment to things. Some things are quite sacred, special, dear, and heartwarming in our eyes. We should treasure what we have as of late. When it comes down to it, some things, no matter how tedious or meticulous they are, can't simply be abandoned. Take addiction for example. When addicted to something like smoking, it becomes hard to consistently resist the urge after succumbing to it for so long. It takes a lot of effort to move on. We all have things near and dear to us, so it just makes it harder.

What can't you give up on? How hard is it to resist? Thanks for coming clean.

I say maybe helping people? I know before I went onto the point to wanting to give up on it. Because I went to far....as in too far and not taking care of myself. Its good to help people but if you go to the point it damages yourself? Then you have to give up. I tried so many times too I couldn't I think this....I definitely got from my mother. I really love to help people. But I have made some ground rules for myself now and how much of a limit I do for it.

I was thinking about things I've quit or given up on. I don't know that I can think of anything too serious. I complete the objectives I give myself and I'm not a quitter. I can't think of a time when I said, "I'm quitting and I'm done even though I tried to do this and failed or I like doing it."

Success, for me, is participation. So losing at sports is acceptable and I don't give up, even if I'm way behind in points late in a game.

The hardest thing I deal with is sometimes building furniture and getting the precision down. Doors, for example, are precision tools in a house. Hanging them, cutting the mantices, getting the hinges lined up, those are all insanely tough and require a lot of patience, discipline, and skill. I'm okay with patience, I'm well-disciplined, but I don't have a ton of skill and I'm learning. So when I had to replace five interior doors in my house, I almost threw one of them out the window and smashed it to pieces. I did not enjoy that experience even though I saved hundreds of dollars and I learned new things.

I almost gave up. I left one room without a door for two days so I could regain my composure and get it done right. But I eventually got it done right.

I refuse to give up. I fight through.

I'm not entirely sure, as I've never attempted to do much. I can't really quit something if I never do anything.

I'd say the hardest thing to give up on for me is whatever my friends require of me. For a great duration of my rather small lifetime, I've always thought that what I wanted never mattered, so I had adapted and didn't have any desire for anything and lived solely to help others.

This, of course, was alright until eventually the time called for me to make a choice based on what I wanted, and not what someone else wanted. I was totally confused as to what to do, so then I started thinking about what I wanted and made my own decisions.

But it's still going fairly slow, so, I don't really have anything to give up on quite yet.

Ultrajeff : My childhood, being a sheltered child and due to many different cercumstances I had to give up my childhood, because in my early days there wasnt any room for fun, just doing what you had to to live another day,I had to make sure my mom was alright while she was high as hell, she slept for days at a time I had to get responsible real quick or id die right then and there most likely to starvation I started a track to a life I didnt want, but I got here though all the odds, poverty,a drug abusing mom, huricane katrina, the countless amount of stepmoms that made me life a living hell, all that crap,it was hard realizing im never gonna get those years back but sometimes you just gotta accept how things are gonna be.

I'm not one to give up on things frequently. I play sports, so giving up is not really a (good) option there. It's much better to go down fighting your butt off rather than to just succumb to defeat. I don't really see the point in "giving up" in most sports since there have been so many wild lead changes, momentum swings, etc in PROFESSIONAL sports. Junior athletes are usually nowhere near as good or as mentally solid as professional athletes, so that would make it more probable for potential comebacks to occur. If you put in so much work in practices/ scrimmages, I don't see how one could just throw all of that away in a game/ tournament and let their hard work and dedication go to waste.

Even outside of sports, I rarely "give up" on things. I don't like giving up on a friend who needs my help, no matter how difficult they are to deal with. It's pretty hard for me to really give up on anything. Whether that be schoolwork, a project, or a video game, I don't like giving up.
