Pokémon GO is a new game that was recently released for Android and iOS. This game has been hyped for since earlier this year, and the hype was worth it. Catching little pocket monsters in real life, having battles and trades (as of this review, these features have not yet been added), even finding specific Pokémon in specific regions. I will go into more detail later, but for now, let's get on with the review.
GRAPHICS: 9/10 The graphics in this game aren't "the best." In fact, there are barely any graphics. It just uses your phone camera. You can turn the AR mode off, though. The graphics that are present can be repetitive and boring. So what makes boring, repetitive graphics deserve a 9? The concept. The "boring and repetitive" graphics are actually the GPS, so let's just say that if you wanted to see your house as a greenish-blue square, you can. Occasionally a Pokémon, Pokéstop, or Gym will appear. The rest of the graphics are menu graphics that look like they belong in some social media app. And, of course, catching a Pokémon with your phone camera is the best thing since Homestuck Act 7 (which was the best thing since Undertale which was the best thing since FNaF and etc.).
SOUND: 7/10 The sound is kind of boring. The same music plays over and over again. Sometimes I think I here a part of a song that sounds like a song from another game, but I doubt it. Maybe if there was more variety in the music it would help. For now, though, the music deserves a 7.
ADDICTIVENESS: 10/10 Gotta catch 'em all! This game is very addicting. Pokémon hunting is very fun and addicting. Not only does it allow players to experience what it's like to actually be a Pokémon Trainer, but it also encourages them to explore the world around them. Gym battles are fun, as well. You must dodge the attacks of enemy Pokémon and attack them yourself. Depending on how much CP (Combat Points) you have, your attacks can do a lot of damage. You're Pokémon has two attacks: the primary attack and the special attack. These attacks can come very useful in a battle. The addictiveness makes me want to play this game over and over again. I also forgot to mention about eggs. If you find an egg, you must walk anywhere from 2-10 km (1.24-6.21 mi).
STORY: 3/10 There isn't really a story. All you need to know is that you catch Pokémon and train the. No evil organizations, no legendary Pokémon awakened. Just walking around, catching Pokémon. Kind of self explanatory.
DEPTH: 10/10 The game offers many things. As previously mentioned, different Pokémon appear in different regions, such as bug types, poison types, and normal types found in a forest environment, or water types and ground types found at beaches. There are Pokémon all over the world, even in places the app hasn't been released yet. It's not just the Pokémon that can be found. Pokéstops and Gyms can be found, as well. Finding all of these are a huge achievement to do, so get outside and start searching.
DIFFICULTY: 7/10 The game is basically a huge workout. Going around the world to search for Pokémon can be hard, especially if the weather isn't the best. Hatching an egg can be hard, as, at least in my case, half the time it doesn't even count your steps, meaning that it may only count 1.5 out of your 2 km. There are also many game-breaking glitches. One of the most common is the server crashing, but sometimes the game will freeze if you try to catch a Pokémon, so you never know if you catch it or not until you open the game.
OVERALL: 9.8/10 Pokémon GO is a fun and addicting game. I recommend it to anyone reading, so download it now if you want (or don't, I don't care). Just remember: stay safe and be aware of your surroundings. Well, the game kinda says that, anyway, so that concludes this review.
