I think that the majority of people will say they prefer watching movies in theaters. But which device do you like watching movies on more than the others? I listed examples in the thread description, I hope I didn't miss any.

For me, I prefer to watch movies in theaters because I love that the screen is so giant. Also, the audio is loud. The loud audio can really help the emotions of certain scenes be more powerful! The only time I don't like seeing a movie in theaters is when my seat is too close to the screen. It's difficult to see everything that's going on at once and it hurts my neck trying to look up at it for so long. I don't like watching movies in theaters in 3D either.

That's...a very good question lol. For me I would say on my laptop. I know sounds rather strange right? Its got to the point I'd gotten used to watching movies on my laptop when I didn't get to go to the cinema as much. I still like the theatre experience, but I guess I still like my comfort zone areas. I hope that explains why.

I pretty much prefer watching in theaters, but I do like the convenience of computers. I can fast-forward and rewind to experience the parts I want to watch. I can jot down quotes, etc. If a family member has to use the restroom, grab some food, etc. we can pause the movie and continue where they left off.

Personally, I like watching them on my computer. I'm a bit of a hermit. But I don't just like watching them on my computer. I like it to be dark outside, curtains drawn, under a blanket and sitting up with my German Shepherd under the crook of my arm and food in the other. And gots to go with headphones so that I can watch it in peace without disturbing anyone.

Theaters are just too big and crowded, and unless I'm going to a high quality theater such as Regal Cinemas, I just can't get comfortable and the audio seems to quiet for such a large room. Then, with how tall I am, I can't stretch out my legs throughout the entire movie, and that just adds to the problem since I hate missing part of the movie to get food. Because I'm either missing plot, fights, or comedy. With my computer, I can pause to get more comfortable, use the bathroom, or get something to eat or drink whenever I want. Plus theaters often have those obnoxious people who think they're quiet but they're not, or who are on their phones, or even kicking popcorn down on top of you. *fumes silently*

Well, that's my two cents.

Mostly my computer. I'll go to the movie theaters every so often but mostly I'll pirate / DVD movies on a computer. I dunno, I think I just prefer the privacy of it over anything. Of course I won't pass up an invitation from my friends to see a movie in the theaters though.

Eniitan : I don't think it sounds strange, everyone has their preferences. I agree that it can be more comfortable to watch it on a computer. You don't have to worry about noisy people distracting you and you can have more room to sit in.

supernerd117 : Good point. Fast-forwarding and rewinding is the best part in my opinion because if you aren't paying attention and all the characters are laughing at a joke you didn't catch, you can try again to see what it was.

Titan127 : What you described sounds like a great setting to be watching a movie in. I would like to have my dog next to me while watching one too Yeah, theaters can have a lot of inconveniences that make the movie hard to watch in one sitting.

Minuano : Seeing a movie with friends is so much fun! I wouldn't pass up that invitation either.

Pacman+Mariofan : Thanks for understanding. Its nice to be surrounded by people. But I like my own cinema on my laptop by watching it. This way I get to enjoy it more on my own. And I always do. Even though at times I do get excited to see another new film in the cinema. Everyone is just different with how they watch things and how they like to do it.

My favorite device to watch just about anything on is my laptop. The screens big enough to see everything clearly, and I can set it at the foot of my bed or next to me while I lay down and watch whatever it is I'm watching. Plus my laptop has a built in mini sound bar, so the audio quality is really nice for it's size.

If not that, we have a huge 60-something inch TV with surround sound in the living room which is awesome to watch Blu-Rays on. The quality is phenomenal, and the sound system makes the house shake during an explosion or something of that nature. We actually have to take stuff off the shelves when using it or the vibrations will shake them to where they fall off and crash into the floor lol. Plus the TV is so huge you can catch pretty much the smallest details the movie throws in as if it were being seen in theaters, which is nice. Got to love that HD picture, ya know?

Eniitan : You're welcome That's true, we all have our preferences of how we like to watch movies and there's a good variety of ways to do it.

Mynamescox44 : That built-in mini sound bar sounds cool. That's a huge TV, I thought mine was huge and it's a 42-inch Mine is HD like yours is so I know what you're talking about. It's really nice having the HD there!

Pacman+Mariofan : Yeah, plus, sometimes I'll mishear what they say because I tend to anticipate what they're saying, which is a bad habit I got from reading when I was younger by, at some point, completely missing typos when my brain kind of auto-corrected them, I guess. As a result, I like to rewind quite a bit, although I do like seeing movies with friends, that's always fun. Luckily for me, my dad has a rich friend with a home theater so we just watch stuff there.

Problem with that is that the chairs are way to comfortable, I daresay even more comfortable than the rather nice bed I have at home, and I fall asleep in a jiffy if I'm tired at all, so I ended up missing like half of Mad Max because of that.

But yeah, it is nice to watch movies with my dog. But she'll leave if she realizes that I know she's snuggling, because she wants to act tough.

Titan127 : Oh that's odd. Your brain is on autocorrect mode all the time I know the feeling of being too comfortable during a movie. I've fallen asleep during a movie 2 times on the same couch in my family room. One time I woke up and my family was telling me that the movie was terrible and that I should be glad I missed it!

Pacman+Mariofan : That's funny. Ha. Good thing you missed it then, I suppose. See, I was in a theater watching a certain Leonardo DiCaprio movie, but even he couldn't save this one, and it was so bad, but I couldn't sleep because it was the dollar theater and the chairs sucked.

It was miserable. See though, in most situations, I just can't sleep when a television is on. And being on my computer, another advantage, let's me pause, shut it off, and be able to sleep and have energy, then continue it the next day.

Titan127 : Yeah, I was pretty glad to have missed that movie because I barely even wanted to know how bad it was. That theater experience sounds pretty rough.

Unless I feel way too exhausted, I can't sleep with a TV on either. It's so difficult not to watch it if it's something I like and sometimes I wake up to loud noises from a TV show or movie. Being able to pick up where you left off on your computer the next day is a great advantage but I really prefer to watch the whole movie in one sitting so I don't forget any details and get confused.

Pa man+Mariofan: Yeah, see, I stay awake even if the show sucks. Heck, once I spent three hours watching some show about plastic stop motion action figures before realizing how dumb it was.

I do often forget details though, honestly. I'll usually finish the movie, then be like "Wait, what happened back here?" and tell myself I'll just watch what I forgot, but I'll end up watching the whole thing.

I’m going to agree with you on theaters. Sure, I buy pretty much every movie I like on DVD, but I only watch DVD’s maybe once a month when I’m bored and have the time, and I also watch on my Iphone and Vita movies that I download, and I don’t watch movies online or on the TV. In theaters however, I watch movies all the time and love it. As a matter of fact, in the last 16 days, I went to the theaters three times, to see Independence Day, Tarzan, and Mike and Dave, and that’s pretty slow because usually I go more often. Over the next couple months I’ll be going even more though because seeing movies in theaters is the best.

Titan127 : Oh wow, that's crazy. I'd probably realize how silly a show is in the first 3 minutes, not the first 3 hours of watching it.

I find it strange that you end up watching the whole movie again when you just want to see a certain part.

zanderlex : Nice, that is really often to go to a theater. It's certainly more often than I do, I only go about 5 times a year probably! :/

Pacman+Mariofan : Lol, 5 times a year is nothing. Of all the ticket stubs that I actually keep, I must have 25 or more per year.

Pa man+Mariofan: I mean, the plot was actually decent, surprisingly, but it was still so stupid, and I just was bored and wanted something to do. I was like, seven or something, so it's not like I was exactly thinking of trying to get thirty six straight hours of sleep at the time, and I just kept watching.

I think I ended up laughing at something and my cousin got mad at me for still being awake. He shut the T.V. off after that and I went to sleep.

Also, I can't watch a movie without something to eat. I get hungry quick, and if I'm thinking of eating more than I am about the movie, then obviously I'm not going to enjoy the movie all that much. Normally I eat a peanut butter and jelly, three or more of them, or popcorn. Some days if I feel like being gluttonous then I'll eat pudding, too.

For the actual best movie experience definitely a movie theater. It's about the only reason I go to them anymore aside from as a way of hanging out with people. While not as comfortable it does make for a much better experience with the large screen and audio which is why I end up seeing some movies I'm particularly excited about there. It's also the only place I'm able to watch movies in 3D which in some cases with movies like Gravity for example is necessary to get the best experience.

For ease of access and general comfort though definitely online. You can find a ton of movies on sites like netflix and if you're willing to do some digging you can find most recent moves online to stream. It's nice because I can skip the long commercial they have before the movie starts at a movie theater and just in general pause whenever I'd like. Not to mention its free if you don't count the cost of internet lol. I also don't have to sit in a chair but can pretty much lie in my bed while watching it so that's nice.

Titan127 :  Good to hear that the plot was still decent at least. I would likely be angry too if someone laughed late at night and I woke up to it.

I tend to be in the mood to eat food while I'm watching a movie too especially if I'm in a theater. Theaters have expensive food but their snacks are great, such as the Junior Mints they have! The theater I typically go to is surrounded by nice restaurants so I want to go to one of them and eat dinner too afterwards.

Zlinqxthecooluser™ : I get excited about the movies I watch in theaters for the same reasons Once in a while I'll watch a movie on Netflix especially if I hadn't seen it before. Being able to pause and continue where I left off is a nice advantage to have.

3 nights ago I watched Back to the Future on Netflix with my dad and sister. We kept pausing the movie because my brother would sneak downstairs without my mom knowing it. He bugged us and begged us to let him watch the movie but we wouldn't since he's too young to watch it. Eventually we had to pause the movie again because my dad told us it was time for him to get my brother ready for bed.
