I hope i put this in the right section because i SWEAR i always mess it up
Ever find yourself highlighting someones words on their layout because you cant read them? 
In the layout editor make a highlight option so that all the words are separated from the background picture and dont mix in at any areas
for now, im just going to try to use the highlight tool that i just found in the text editor...
I still think this is an interesting idea

Or just use a font color that doesn't clash with the background. Not to be rude, but it really isn't that hard. I know the basic layout maker is tougher to work with than the advanced ones that trusted+ get to use as long as you know a little bit of coding, but I still don't think it can be THAT hard.

I kind of like your layout. I just think you can find a font color that you don't need to highlight in order to be able to read it.

Minuano : I agree with this, but in a multicolor background there may be no font that works with it and it can be frustrating to try to find one that does. And even then it might not be pretty. Highlighting is a simple way to fix it

There will be different colors, shades, levels of transparency, so it would be impossible to make a systematic way to highlight the text so that it's visible. One person might have one kind of background, and the highlight would work an make the text more visible, bur putting the same highlight on text over a different background could give the complete opposite effect and make it either worse or not make a change.

This is a bad example of a photo that needs its words highlighted. Separating them from the photo entirely would work, but that really limits what you can do with your layout and it may not appeal to how its user wants it.

clifton123 : Um. I think you messed up that post entirely lol. From looking at your post normally, it looks like normal black text on a white background, there's no photo at all. However, if you click reply and read your post there, things get a bit weird because it becomes great text on just a white text background, which is kind of hard to read. Was the text supposed to be highlighted white?

Make good use of opacity. Use plain backgrounds for text boxes as much as possible, or at least use a picture with related shades and consistent coloring.

Juliet : I understand that some people wouldnt enjoy seeing a flashy background picture with the text ontop of it.
From what i understand trusted members get more advanced layout options than regular members, regulars should have something that dosent limit them to simple layouts or purchasing one.
Highlighting makes a bad layout readable so that you dont have to block it. People who are bad at layout designing wouldn't want their own piece blocked because they dont know what theyre doing.
Highlighting makes a layout bearable, not better.

Hm... the users who got their layouts blocked by someone else won't know it and will still be able to use their layouts freely, so no hurt feelings there. With the blocking feature easy to use (and also anonymous to use), I don't really see the need to make a bad layout bearable.

As for having the limit for the regulars and below, I agree that it's quite limiting. That doesn't make it an excuse to have a bad layout though (in a sense that the posts become unreadable). Pretty much everyone used to be able to edit and make layouts before but it got abused... thus the reason for the limited layout options for regulars and below.
