Chapter 5 - The very first time

Downstairs, the phone rang. Maria looked at Zoe.
Zoe: "UGH, i get it: i need to take that phone!"
Zoe walked downstairs. She was grabbing the phone, but she recognized the number. If it was the person of who she thought he would call, then this is the moment of truth.
Zoe: "H-hello?"
???: "Hello, miss. With who am i speaking?"
Zoe: "With Zoe..."
???: "Zoe?! I thought i called up your grandma!"
Zoe: "Heh heh, well... I had to stay over. But who am i speaking with?"
???: "Ryan Grant, of course!"
Zoe: "Ryan... Grant?"
Ryan: "Yeah, we spoke earlier this evening!"
Zoe: "Oh yeah! But... How did you get this number?"
Ryan: "Well, let me... HEY! Lay down that plane, Dick! It's not a toy, it's a masterpiece!"
Zoe: "Dick? You just called someone... Dick?"
Ryan: "Oh, don't misunderstand me, but that's his actual name. My brother's friends can't leave my collectable planes alone, they NEED to touch it. But back to your number: I got it from a friend who's next to me."
Zoe: "Who?"
Ryan: "She wants to speak to you."
???: "Hi, Zoe."
Zoe: "Oh great, now i just speak to another... Hey, Wait a second... Jake?"
Jake: "Yes?"
Zoe: "Oh... So it is you..."
Jake: "Yes, i heard you were here. But i got to admit something... As well..."
Zoe: "Like?"
Jake: "I feel sorry, very sorry, for disappointing you with your feelings for me. I want to apologize, and... Heh heh... To be honest: I was in love with you once."
Zoe didn't get what she just heard. What did he say?
Zoe: "..."
Jake: "And, well... Now i just wasn't in love anymore with you. But you seem to be nice, kind and..."
Zoe: "Heh heh... Thanks... "and"?"
Zoe's anger towards Jake was gone.
Jake: "You're... beautiful?"
Zoe: " Ha ha, why do you ask it?"
Jake: "Because Ryan and Dick are still here, you know."
Zoe: "Oh, oops. Should i say about you what you are?"
Jake: "Sure, go ahead."
Zoe: "You're... Cool, helpful and caring about others."
Jake: "Gee, thanks Zoe. If we were together now, this would be just like a romantic movie... Or something."
Ryan (from far away): "That's disgusting."
Jake: "Well, it is true, Ryan. Don't expect me higher than that..."
Ryan: "WHAT!?"
Jake: "Eh, Zoe? I got to hang up, Ryan doesn't take what i said quite positive... See you. Kisses!"
Zoe: "But..."
Beep!
Did he said "Kisses"? Wow. Maria was downstairs the whole time. She was reading a book and once Zoe clicked the red horn on the phone, Maria went up.
Maria: "Going to bed?"
Zoe: "Yeah, it's already 11:52 PM. *yaaawn* See you tomorrow, grandma."
Zoe walked up the stairs. Maria was going to the kitchen to get something. Meanwhile, Zoe fell on her bed, sighed heavily and believed everything is good now, because Jake loves her too. Wait, does he love Zoe? Or did they just say nice things to each other? Zoe started to think about that. But she couldn't hold the thoughts she had: She fell asleep quickly. That night, she dreamed about her and Jake having a wonderful life with each other. That they had a relationship with each other, that they were married, that they had a family... And the dream ended when Ryan was chased by the two kids Zoe and Jake had in the dream.

The next morning...

Zoe woke up, but not as usual: There are a lot of noises outside. She heard a couple of people yelling things, and a lot of laughter was outside. She took a look, and saw Mike, Rachel, Jordan (The classmate in chapter 2) and... someone else? They were throwing food towards each other. It seemed fun, so Zoe dressed back to her normal clothes to join. However, Maria said no and even prepared the car to use for going back to Zoe's home.
Once Zoe was back at home, Lily hugged her tight because she didn't liked it when Zoe ran away.
Lily: "Please don't do things like that again..."
Maria: "I guess i'll be going home again."
Lily: "Okay, be careful, mom."
Maria: "Oh, dear. I can watch out for the road, but the road doesn't watch out for me, if you know what i mean!"
Maria was going back to her car.
Zoe: "Bye, grandma!"
Maria: "Bye, sweetheart!"
Maria got in the car and drived away.
Lily: "I heard there was some party at one of your friends their house."
Zoe: "Oh?! I've seen Philip, Mike, Rachel and... someone at grandma's home. They were throwing food to each other!"
Lily: "Oh wow. You should join them one day."
Zoe: "Nah. I prefer doing so with Jess. Speaking of Jess, has she been sentenced yet?"
Lily: "No, not yet. In 2 days, she will be."
Zoe: "Okay, i want to help Jess from staying away from prison so i NEED to know that."
Lily: "You're... what?"
Zoe: "Jake, Mike, Philip and i are letting her being outside of prison!"
Lily: "But... she murdered someone, Zoe. He's DEAD!"
Zoe: "But it could also be Harold, who was there as well!"
Lily: "I don't think that's true, but if you are the witness of a crime one day, you may say that."
Zoe: "How lucky: I indeed was the witness! I was looking for my watch..."
She looked at her arm. She didn't had her watch.
Zoe: "...of which i don't have right now. But i was looking for it after i saw Jess, Harold and Eric, then i heard two loud gun shots and i came back and i saw Harold laying on the ground, and the victim, Eric, laid there too. And he was dead."
Lily: "...?"
Zoe saw that Lily didn't took Zoe seriously. She sighed.
Zoe: "Never mind then. I hoped you believed me..."
She walked upstairs. She grabbed her phone and called up Jake. After 15 seconds...
Jake: "Hey, Zoe!"
Zoe: "How did you... Oh yeah, this is my phone."
Jake: "Haha! Yeah... But what was your question? Or what did you want to say?"
Zoe: "I wanted to know if you really loved me now, because of our conversation last night."
Suddenly, Zoe heard someone yelling "Jake is a donkey!!!" in the background.
Jake: "Thanks, i really appreciate it..."
Zoe: "Haha! Who was THAT?"
Jake: "Guess and i'll be answering your question."
Zoe: "Ehm... Ryan?"
Jake: "Ding ding!"
Zoe: "Is that a yes?"
Jake: "Yep. On to your question: I liked our talk yesterday... and... I indeed have feelings for you now..."
Zoe: "Wait, what?"
Zoe was starting to get enthusiastic and was so happy to hear that.
Zoe: "So... Does that mean i got my first lover?"
Jake: "Heh heh... Yeah..."
Zoe yelled out of happiness. This day was about to be her favorite one. Zoe laid down her phone.
Jake: "Uhm... Heh heh... Okay?"
Jake heard the yell of course, as well as Lily. Lily came upstairs.
Lily: "What's wrong, Zoe?"
Zoe: "Haha! I think i got someone who loves me!"
Lily: "See? You always say no one loves you, but now you got proof it is the opposite. I always told you you were..."
Zoe: "...too beautiful for anyone, i know. Heh heh."
Jake: "Hello? Zoe?"
Zoe: "Oh, right! Jake!"
She grabbed her phone again.
Zoe: "I'm back! Sorry, i'm sooo happy now!"
Jake: "I heard something like that already. Heh. Hold on, i'll come to your house."
Zoe: "And your house? How about that?"
Jake: "Well... Okay then. Because my parents aren't here yet, they're here in 7 hours."
Zoe: "Okay, see you in 20 minutes!"
Jake: "Bye!"
They hung up their phone. Zoe went to her mom to tell her she was going to Jake and that they probably will play games again. Lily gave Zoe permission, so
Zoe went away from her home. Going to Jake.

Meanwhile...

Ted, the policeman, was going to Jess. Jess was in a prison cell, waiting for her punishment. Ted came to tell Jess it's almost time.
Ted: "It's almost time for your trial."
Jess: "Yeah... I wonder how my friends are doing."
Ted: "Well, i'm sure they're doing good."
Jess: "I hope so. You're doing your work pretty good, mister."
Ted: "Thank you, but you're not going away with this by just simply giving me compliments. Even if you saved my life you aren't going away with this."
Jess: "look, i just wanted to give you a compliment because it's true: You saved my best friend Zoe from Harold!"
Ted: "Ah yes, Zoe. Well, i'll see you in 2 days."
Ted went out of the cell and closed it. He also locked it again. He went to the other policemen.

Once Zoe was at Jake's house...

Jake heard the doorbell and decided to go open it. (obviously) Zoe was on the other side of the door.
Zoe: "Hi, Jake!"
Jake: "Hi! Come in!"
Zoe went in the house, where they went to Jake's room and were talking a bit about things. Like Jake's pets.
Jake: "Well, my cat is doing fine. Did you get his name yet?"
Zoe: "Uh, no? What's his name then?"
Jake: "Well, Max is sleeping, so i can't let him come here."
Zoe: "Max? That's his name?"
Jake: "Yeah... It's a weird name..."
Zoe: "Oh no, not at all. In fact, i think it's a funny name for a cat. I can imagine him being orange and white, with the pattern of a cow."
Jake: "Heh heh... Well... He's BLACK and white, does that count?"
Zoe: "I don't know. *giggle* Count for what?"
Jake: "I have absolutely no idea..."
They were sitting on the ground at first, but then Jake went up.
Jake: "I'll go check if there's something nice to eat in the fridge."
Zoe (who sat on the ground): "Okay."
Jake tried to walk from the room, but... he hit his foot against the bed REALLY hardly. He saw something he wanted to kick against, and he accidentally hit the bed.
Jake: "AAAAH!! (****)!!!"
Zoe: "W-what?"
Jake: "Urgh! Ow! I hit my (****) foot against the bed!!"
Zoe went up and asked if she could help.
Jake: "Yes, please... Ow. I see my foot is bleeding a bit."
Zoe: "I don't wanna see it."
She was going downstairs and grabbed a first-aid kit (of which surprisingly there was one in Jake's house) then went back upstairs again. Jake went on his bed, in the meantime. Once she was upstairs, she laid down the kit, opened it and looked for something to prevent the wound to be infected before she places a bandage on it. At last, she found it. She used it on the wound, then placed the bandage on the wound.
Jake: "Argh. Wow, you sure know what to do, right?"
Zoe: "Well, i payed attention on school."
Jake: "Ah yes. School. I thought the summer break was next week?"
Zoe stopped doing something. That reminded her of something: Some school friend of Mike and Rachel invited them, Philip... everyone to a party at the start of the summer break. Blast! How could she forget that? She wanted to save money for special clothes for that party. Some clothes no one can take their eyes off.
Jake: "Z-Zoe?"
Zoe: "Right. Sorry."
Jake: "What just happened there?"
Zoe: "Oh, nothing."
Zoe seemed to look serious, probably because she assisted Jake with his foot. Later on, she was done.
Zoe: "There, it's done."
Jake: "Gee, thanks! Do i need to do something in return?"
Zoe: "Nah, it's fine."
Zoe laid down the first-aid kit on the ground and fell on the other side of Jake's bed. There could sleep two people in Jake' bed, and Jake laid on the left side, Zoe on the right side. She sighed really hard.
Jake: "Tired?"
Zoe: "Huh?"
Jake: "Well, if someone sighes, in my house we say "Tired?". It's because it sounds as if you're out of breath."
Zoe: "Ah, then i get it now."
Jake: "Heh heh... Yeah..."
It became silent. The only sound was the ticking of Jake's clock and the snoring of Max, who decided to go to Jake in the meantime to sleep in his room. The two were staring at the ceiling. Suddenly, Zoe was turning to look at Jake. She laid one hand over his right shoulder. She looked at Jake with bright eyes.
Zoe: "So... What do you like about my body?"
Jake: "Is there a special reason why you ask that?"
Zoe: "*giggle* No, not at all."
Jake: "Well... I like your hair color... Your length... Your voice... How your black hair, green eyes and white skin color make a lovely combination... But i absolutely love your eyes. They're so..."
Zoe: "So...?"
Jake: "...mystical. And so mysterious."
Zoe: "So you love my eyes? Most people say "like", but you're one of the few who says "love"..."
Jake: "Oh really?"
Zoe: "Yep. Not much people say they LOVE a body part."
Jake: "Yeah, but it is just your mysterious eyes that make you so lovely and beautiful."
Zoe smiled at Jake. She felt wonderful when Jake said that. In the meantime she was playing a bit with Jake's hoody. Suddenly, she stopped doing that. They were looking at each other. Zoe was thinking: Okay, now is the perfect time, i think.
Jake: "You got something in your hair."
Zoe: "Oh?"
Jake had his hand behind Zoe's head and pulled out a cookie crumb, it appears.
Jake: "I don't know how you got THIS in your hair..."
Zoe: "*giggle* Yeah, me neither."
They were silent once again. Zoe closed her eyes and moved her mouth slowly towards Jake's mouth to kiss him. Well... She tried, but...
Max: "Meow!"
Jake: "Oh!"
Max went on the bed to check what Jake was doing.
Jake: "Hey, Max."
Max: "Meow! Purr!"
Max laid on the bed, laying against Zoe's belly. He felt comfortable when he was with Zoe, it seemed.
Zoe: "Aww, he likes me!"
Jake: "I never saw that happening, that Max likes a stranger..."
Zoe: "Yeah, i can be nice with animals. Except dogs. I'm allergic to dogs."
Zoe laid her hand on Max and started to pet him. Max liked it a lot. He felt comfortable, and so were Zoe and Jake when they were together. It became silent, as Zoe was still petting Max. Zoe had that thought again. Her heart started to pound faster and she was nervous, but it didn't matter now. Zoe moved her mouth to Jake's mouth once again. They tried to kiss each other once again. They succeeded now, and they had a wonderful moment there. It was clear now that Jake loved Zoe and Zoe loved Jake.

And so, 3 minutes later, they were done. For now, at least. Zoe went up and was sitting on the bed.
Zoe: "I just thought of something..."
Jake: "Like?"
Zoe: "We were kissing and have no relationship... Wait..."
Jake: "What?"
Zoe: "I can't believe i just did it..."
Jake: "What? That we kissed each other?"
Zoe: "Yeah! This was the first kiss i've ever had in my life!"
Jake: "Well, it was nice, i'll give you that."
Zoe: "What do you mean?"
Jake: "Eh... i've kissed before. But hey, i was drunk back then, i couldn't help it."
Zoe: "So... You say you've kissed someone... already?"
Jake went off the bed and went to Zoe's side, going to sit next to her.
Jake: "Yes. But you're going to be my first girlfriend if you want."
Zoe: "You're serious?"
Jake: "Yes, i'm serious."
Zoe didn't realized what Jake asked her. Zoe was so happy when he asked that, she tackled Jake so that she laid on Jake.
Jake: "Blurg!"
Zoe: "Yes! Yes! Yes! One thousand times yes!"
Jake: "Gllg... Okay... Urgh... I don't wanna be rude, but i think you have your full weight on me now."
Zoe: "Oh! Oops!"
She went up again. Jake finally had some space and some time to breathe again. He was breathing heavily.
Zoe: "Oh come on, it was not an elephant that laid on you..."
Jake: "You're right... I was just joking around."
Zoe: "*giggle* I know!"
The two started to talk about several subjects again, this time as boyfriend and girlfriend.

Later on, when it was turning dark...

Jake and Zoe were going to say goodbye.
Jake: "Well, i'll see you... tomorrow?"
Zoe: "Oh, i can't. My mom needs me tomorrow for some tests at the hospital."
Jake: "Oh... Then we got a little problem. On school?"
Zoe: "Absolutely."
Zoe kissed Jake a little bit again and hugged him tight.
Zoe: "I'm gonna miss you, after everything we did in these 5 hours i've been here."
Jake: "Zoe, i'm not gonna die or something. If i'm leaving or going, i'll tell you."
Zoe: "You promise?"
Jake: "I'll promise."
Zoe: "Okay. Then i'll promise to do the same thing."
Lily came to Jake's house to pick Zoe up. Lily went to Jake's house with her car.
Zoe: "Well, i guess i'll see you Monday."
Jake: "Yep. See you then!"
Zoe: "Bye!"
Zoe went in the car and they drived home again.

Once she was home, she ran upstairs to her room. Lily thought: What's up with her? Meanwhile, Zoe turned on her PC to send an e-mail to her friends. And while she waited, she was playing a game on her phone. 4 minutes later, the PC was done starting up. Zoe clicked the inbox for her e-mail adress and was sending an e-mail (with excitement) about her first relationship. She included Jake in the e-mail, and set the people who could read it to only Mike, Rachel, Philip, Jordan, Ryan, and some more people. However, she accidentally set that as the SUBJECT, meaning EVERYONE from school could read it. Zoe didn't see this, until...
Zoe: "Oh wait. Oh, snap! Oh help, i didn't mean to..."
The e-mail was already been sent to everyone. Zoe let her head fall on the desk, making a loud sound. She was disappointed in herself that she actually did that. She moved her head up again.
Zoe: "Oh god... There goes my reputation... *sigh*"
She went up and walked downstairs. She heard a lot of laughter coming from the living room.
???: "And i said: "Quick! Get him some ice cubes! I think he's fainting because he thinks he's the loose-er!!"
A person said that and he and Lily were laughing a lot.
Zoe: "Huh?"
Zoe recognized that voice. She heard that voice for the last time when she was 6... Could it be? She looked at the living room. There was someone sitting there, but... he had only one leg. He had green eyes and black, short hair. And he was quite tall.
Zoe: "D-d..."
???: "Ah, there she is."
Lily came out of the living room, to see Zoe.
Lily: "Do you know who he is?"
Zoe left a tear and looked very happy.
Zoe: "D-d-dad?..."
???: "Yes, it's me, at last. I was..."
Zoe ran towards her father to hug him tight. She was so relieved that her dad returned at last. But... Wasn't he dead? Didn't Maria told Zoe that her father died? That he got killed?
Zoe was crying and said while crying: "Dad! I was so worried about you... I thought you'd never returned..."
Nathan: "I was wondering how you were as well, princess... I'm so happy to see you two now, although i've lost my leg."
Lily: "Want some coffee?"
Nathan: "Yes, please."
Zoe was still hugging Nathan and didn't seem to let go. She was happy her father returned. They were very close to each other. They always were. Since Zoe was born.
Zoe: "But... Dad... Grandma said you..."
Nathan: "I know, but everyone made that up and spreaded lies about me. Apparently they told grandma those lies too. Sit down, i'll tell you two the truth"
Zoe and Lily went to the couch and sat on it.
Zoe: "Did mom knew this already?"
Nathan: "No, i wanted you to come down first."
Zoe: "That reminds me: I got a problem."
Nathan: "Do you want to hear the truth first or tell your problem first?"
Zoe: "I'll be listening."
Nathan: "Okay... Here it goes, and this is all true: I was snowboarding on the Himalaya's, and once i was too far from the hotel, a snowstorm went up. I couldn't see anything. And after, apparently, 15 minutes (which felt like 3 hours) i got knocked out and went in a coma. I couldn't remember anything of this, but apparently i had a camera mounted on my snowboarding suit. And it even said the time: 14:52 PM, on the 15th of January, 2008. That was two years after i... *sigh* left you guys... And i regret going away all the time..."
Zoe: "...2008?"
Lily: "Nathan, honey. Don't think so bad about this. At last, you couldn't help the snowstorm. And i'm glad you're here now, that makes this situation alright."
Nathan: "*sigh* I guess you're right... Well then, Zoe."
He laughed a bit.
Nathan: "I still can't believe i'm here. But princess, i have a question for you: What happened in the time i was on that horrible vacation?"
Zoe: "Dad, you don't wanna know how much good things happened, and how few bad things!"
Nathan: "Tell me the good things first."
Zoe went up.
Zoe: "Right. First of all, and mom doesn't know this yet, but... I got a boyfriend!"
Nathan: "Oh really?"
Lily: "Wow..."
Nathan: "And... what's his name? And where does he come from? How old is he? Where did you guys..."
Zoe: "*giggle* I get it. His name is Jake, he's from nearby, he's 17 and we...?"
Nathan: "*whispers* You gotta click on my play button..."
Zoe: "Dad... I'm not 6 anymore."
Nathan: "I get it... You're in a hurry, am i right?"
Zoe: "For what?"
Nathan: "For your date."
Zoe: "I have no date planned for now."
Nathan: "You should be proud of yourself, princess: You just got your first boyfriend, right?"
Zoe: "Dad!!"
Nathan: "...?"
Lily: "Zoe, i know you're getting angry. Control it and go to your room to relax a bit."
Zoe: "I'm not getting angry, but if he keeps on going with his stupid jokes, then i regret being HERE!"
Nathan: "Oh, so i make "stupid jokes", right? Do you think i cannot be serious since you were born?"
Zoe: "Yes, since you were always joking."
Nathan: "GET TO YOUR ROOM! NOW! I DON'T WANT TO SEE YOU HERE TODAY!"
Zoe: "*gasp*"
Out of frustration and fear, Zoe ran to her room a slammed the door, making it close. She locked it as well. Meanwhile, Lily and Nathan were argueing. Nathan grabbed his suitcase and began packing some stuff from him.
Lily: "Nathan, i think that was a bit too harsh."
Nathan: "Oh, now it is ME who does the wrong things?! Look, Lily, i just wanted to live here again. I better pack my stuff and leave, since Zoe isn't happy that i'm here."
Lily: "So... You did this all just for Zoe?"
Nathan let his head fall on his suitcase.
Nathan: "Yes... And if she doesn't appreciate me or my attention to her... Who am i then besides an useless father?"
Lily: "You're not useless, and i'm sure she appreciates it all. She just needs to get used to you being here again. It has been 10 years since you left, after all."
Nathan: "I'm so happy that i came back... I just can't get over it, but i want to stay if that's okay..."
Lily: "You're welcome here. And i'm sure Zoe thinks the same way about that as i do."
Nathan: "Thanks..."
They hugged each other. Suddenly, the phone rang. Lily didn't recognize the number.
Nathan: "That may be Lola and Dean. I said they could call me if i returned home safely."
Nathan picked up the phone. He was talking with his two friends Lola and Dean, both as old as Nathan is: 33. Lola had kids on her own, Dean didn't. But Dean was incredibly good in designing video games.

The next day...

Zoe woke up, realizing she had her normal clothes on, laying on the ground. And the PC still was turned on. That's going to cost a lot of money... Zoe didn't feel her right hand, because she appeared to lay on her hand. She didn't quite realize she had her other hand laying on her thigh, slightly more below her thigh. And that she had been painting stuff last night. And that the paint was on her left hand.
Zoe: "H-huh?..."
She went up from the ground, but indeed saw some black paint on the floor when she pushed herself off the ground.
Zoe: "Oh, right. I was painting last night..."
Someone knocked the door. Zoe looked at her pink alarm clock: It was already 12:41 in the afternoon.
Zoe: "Yes?"
It appeared Jake was in the house.
Jake: "Hey, Zoe."
Zoe: "Jake!"
They hugged each other.
Zoe: "I'm so happy you're here!"
Jake: "That's why i'm here: To make my day good! But for you, even better: I decided to go to the Netherlands with another 3 people! And i heard your mom wanted to go there with you, so... No need to pay money!"
Zoe: "Jake... I... Don't know what to say... *giggle* It's great!!"
Jake: "I know, right? Your mom already knows, and your dad does too."
Zoe: "Did you meet my dad already?"
Jake: "Yeah, he was pretty nice to me."
Zoe: "Cool. When are we going?"
Jake: "I think it was upcoming Friday!"
Zoe: "Wow, that's pretty soon."
Jake: "Yep, better pack your stuff then!"
Zoe: "Yeah, i might do that later on. Anyway, i had an appointment at the doctor today, i thought it was at 2:00 PM."
Jake: "Ah, i see. For what is it, if i may ask?"
Zoe: "Well, i have to give the result of some urine test."
Jake: "Oh, is it important?"
Zoe: "well, it hurts a bit if i... you know..."
Jake: "Yes, go to the toilet. I know. Heh heh. Don't worry about me."
Zoe: "Riiight... Heh heh..."
She kissed Jake quickly.
Zoe: "See you later, Jakey!"
Zoe went out of her room.
Jake: "See you!"
Jake went out of Zoe's room too. He was right behind Zoe, because he said he was going home already.
Zoe: "Why can't we walk together to the doctor?"
Jake: "Uhm... Okay, then. Let's go."
Lily: "Oh, Jake! Don't sneak in if Zoe..."
Jake: "I know, i'll give her her privacy."
Lily: "Good."
The two were going to the doctor. On their way, they talked about a lot of things again. But something else happened as well: Jake walked in somebody.
???: "Ow! Hey, you weirdo! Watch it!"
Jake: "Sorry, i didn't see you there!"
Zoe: "Is there anything we can do for you?
???: "Yes, bring this to Birchwood street 4."
The person gave a letter. Surprisingly enough, it was for Jake.
Jake: "But... I live there."
???: "Oh, then YOU are Jake! I'm Kimmy O'Brian!"
Zoe: "Hey, i've seen you at my grandma's house... You were throwing food at Mike, Philip and Jordan!"
Kimmy: "Eh... Yes? That's right?"
Kimmy looked at her watch.
Kimmy: "Look, i'm actually in a hurry. See you two on school!"
Jake: "Bye!"
Zoe: "..."
Jake: "What's wrong, Zoe?"
Zoe: "*sigh* Why do we always WALK into someone new..."
Jake: "I don't know. We can also run, but that's more painful."
Zoe: "Ah, we're at the hospital."
They were indeed at the hospital. They were looking for the doctor Zoe had an appointment with: Doctor Smith. They found her easily. Dr. Smith, Zoe and Jake were going to Dr. Smith's office(?) to give the result.
Dr. Smith: "Welcome back, Zoe!"
Zoe: "Thanks!"
Dr. Smith: "And who's this? I haven't seen him the first time you came."
Jake: "I'm her boyfriend."
Dr. Smith: "Ah, that makes a lot clear. Anyway Zoe, i had to give you the task to bring some urine. Do you got the bottle with you?"
Zoe: "Uh, yeah. It's in my bag."
She was looking for her bottle. At last, she found it and gave it to the doctor.
Dr. Smith: "Thank you. I'll hand it over to the researchers(?) and then they will find out why it hurts when you go to the toilet. Do you go a lot of just not at all?"
Zoe: "Well, on school i don't use them because they're very gross, and at home... Well... It's not quite comfortable."
Jake: "Zoe, you need to go to the toilet more often. Otherwise you'll get an infection."
Zoe: "I know, Jake. But i just can't go to the toilet very well..."
Dr. Smith: "Well, don't you have a bathroom with a toilet at your house, Zoe?"
Zoe: "Uh... Actually, no."
Dr. Smith: "You got some black paint down there, by the way."
Zoe: "Huh? Oh, yeah. I was painting last night and apparently fell asleep really quickly."
Dr. Smith: "If you want, you can wash it off here. I already called one of the researchers(?) to bring results from another patient. And they'll take the bottle with them as well."
A person indeed opened the door and brought some papers. He also took the bottle.
Researcher: "Is this your urine, miss?"
Zoe: "Uh, yeah. That's correct."
Dr. Smith: "Our Zoe here has some problems and i wanted you guys to find out what the source is."
Researcher: "Okay, i'll work on it."
The researcher went out the room and closed the door again.
Dr. Smith: "Well, i guess i'll contact you whenever we know something about this situation, Zoe. Is your mom home?"
Zoe: "Yes, she always is. And my dad lives there too since yesterday."
Dr. Smith: "Your dad? Nathan?"
Zoe: "You know him?"
Dr. smith grabbed her bag and looked for something.
Dr. Smith: "Well, i was friends with him for a long time, but in 2006... We had to say goodbye."
Zoe: "What's your first name? Then i'll say you said hello to him."
Dr. Smith: "That's sweet of you. My name is Alice Smith."
Zoe: "Hmm... I heard dad calling someone named Lola and someone named Dean yesterday! Do you know them?"
Dr. Smith: "Ah yes, Dean and Lola... I should invite them to my son's party."
Jake: "Your... son?"
Dr. Smith: "Yes, i have a picture of him."
She showed a picture of... Martin? Martin was the classmate who appeared in chapter 2. It was pretty cool that Martin has a doctor as mother, and even better: Zoe and Jake met her. Martin always had permission to celebrate the summer break with all his schoolmates. It wouldn't be surprising he was pretty popular.
Zoe: "We know him! He's on our school!"
Dr. Smith: "Really?"
Jake: "Yes, it's true!"
Then the same researcher(?) came back, again with some papers. He gave it to Dr. Smith.
Dr. Smith: "Thanks, Richard. Oh..."
Zoe was thinking: Oh no, looking at Alice's expression, it's not good news.
Dr. Smith: "Zoe, according to these papers, you have an urinary infection."
Zoe didn't knew what she heard. Jake looked at her. Then he looked back at the doctor
Jake: "Is there anything she can do about it?"
Dr. Smith: "Well, above all: Go and take your time on the toilet more often, Zoe. And i'll give you something for it as well..."

When they were heading back home, they saw Kimmy again, this time she had spaghetti with her.
Jake: "I didn't knew Kimmy helped in an Italian restaurant?"
Zoe: "We've only met her today, Jake..."
Kimmy seemed to throw the spaghetti. She aimed for Jake.
Jake: "Wait, is she...?"
Kimmy threw the spaghetti and hit Jake with it.
Jake: "Aah, Kimmy! What the (****) was THAT good for?!"
Jake's face was covered with spaghetti.
Kimmy: "I had to do that for Jordan, who will probably laugh a lot when he hears this!"
Jake: "I don't care, that was NOT cool!"
Kimmy: "Yes it was. If you wanna be cool, then stay cool. And be yourself, of course. And as you saw: being myself means throwing spaghetti a lot."
Zoe: "Jake, it doesn't matter what she says, just ignore her."
Kimmy: "What? "just ignore her"? You know, i'm the mail... eh... I bring mail to anyone from school, so you cannot ignore me! Nananana!"
Zoe: "How old is she again? 5 years?"
Jake: "Probably..."
They were going to home again, while Jake still had spaghetti on him.
Kimmy was yelling mean stuff from the distance. But then she stopped with that. She started talking in herself
Kimmy: "I hate it when people think they're cooler than me. I have to stay awesome, stay being the best! Yes, that's it! Tomorrow, i'll learn them a fantastic lesson. I'll have to make Rachel believe that... And that e-mail... Yes, that's my plan!"
A man walked passed her and said: "You DO know you're talking to yourself, right?"
Kimmy: "Do i know you? No i don't. So stop judging me!"

I'm curious: Should i make a bonus chapter without any crime and where they go to the Netherlands and have a fantastic time? Or should they just stay in the USA? (I can rhyme, i know!

Chapter 5 - The very first time

Downstairs, the phone rang. Maria looked at Zoe.
Zoe: "UGH, i get it: i need to take that phone!"
Zoe walked downstairs. She was grabbing the phone, but she recognized the number. If it was the person of who she thought he would call, then this is the moment of truth.
Zoe: "H-hello?"
???: "Hello, miss. With who am i speaking?"
Zoe: "With Zoe..."
???: "Zoe?! I thought i called up your grandma!"
Zoe: "Heh heh, well... I had to stay over. But who am i speaking with?"
???: "Ryan Grant, of course!"
Zoe: "Ryan... Grant?"
Ryan: "Yeah, we spoke earlier this evening!"
Zoe: "Oh yeah! But... How did you get this number?"
Ryan: "Well, let me... HEY! Lay down that plane, Dick! It's not a toy, it's a masterpiece!"
Zoe: "Dick? You just called someone... Dick?"
Ryan: "Oh, don't misunderstand me, but that's his actual name. My brother's friends can't leave my collectable planes alone, they NEED to touch it. But back to your number: I got it from a friend who's next to me."

Did he said "Kisses"? Wow. Maria was downstairs the whole time. She was reading a book and once Zoe clicked the red horn on the phone, Maria went up.
Maria: "Going to bed?"
Zoe: "Yeah, it's already 11:52 PM. *yaaawn* See you tomorrow, grandma."
Zoe walked up the stairs. Maria was going to the kitchen to get something. Meanwhile, Zoe fell on her bed, sighed heavily and believed everything is good now, because Jake loves her too. Wait, does he love Zoe? Or did they just say nice things to each other? Zoe started to think about that. But she couldn't hold the thoughts she had: She fell asleep quickly. That night, she dreamed about her and Jake having a wonderful life with each other. That they had a relationship with each other, that they were married, that they had a family... And the dream ended when Ryan was chased by the two kids Zoe and Jake had in the dream.

The next morning...

Zoe woke up, but not as usual: There are a lot of noises outside. She heard a couple of people yelling things, and a lot of laughter was outside. She took a look, and saw Mike, Rachel, Jordan (The classmate in chapter 2) and... someone else? They were throwing food towards each other. It seemed fun, so Zoe dressed back to her normal clothes to join. However, Maria said no and even prepared the car to use for going back to Zoe's home.
Once Zoe was back at home, Lily hugged her tight because she didn't liked it when Zoe ran away.
Lily: "Please don't do things like that again..."
Maria: "I guess i'll be going home again."
Lily: "Okay, be careful, mom."
Maria: "Oh, dear. I can watch out for the road, but the road doesn't watch out for me, if you know what i mean!"
Maria was going back to her car.
Zoe: "Bye, grandma!"
Maria: "Bye, sweetheart!"
Maria got in the car and drived away.
Lily: "I heard there was some party at one of your friends their house."
Zoe: "Oh?! I've seen Philip, Mike, Rachel and... someone at grandma's home. They were throwing food to each other!"
Lily: "Oh wow. You should join them one day."
Zoe: "Nah. I prefer doing so with Jess. Speaking of Jess, has she been sentenced yet?"
Lily: "No, not yet. In 2 days, she will be."
Zoe: "Okay, i want to help Jess from staying away from prison so i NEED to know that."
Lily: "You're... what?"
Zoe: "Jake, Mike, Philip and i are letting her being outside of prison!"
Lily: "But... she murdered someone, Zoe. He's DEAD!"
Zoe: "But it could also be Harold, who was there as well!"
Lily: "I don't think that's true, but if you are the witness of a crime one day, you may say that."
Zoe: "How lucky: I indeed was the witness! I was looking for my watch..."
She looked at her arm. She didn't had her watch.
Zoe: "...of which i don't have right now. But i was looking for it after i saw Jess, Harold and Eric, then i heard two loud gun shots and i came back and i saw Harold laying on the ground, and the victim, Eric, laid there too. And he was dead."

Zoe saw that Lily didn't took Zoe seriously. She sighed.
Zoe: "Never mind then. I hoped you believed me..."
She walked upstairs. She grabbed her phone and called up Jake. After 15 seconds...
Jake: "Hey, Zoe!"
Zoe: "How did you... Oh yeah, this is my phone."
Jake: "Haha! Yeah... But what was your question? Or what did you want to say?"
Zoe: "I wanted to know if you really loved me now, because of our conversation last night."
Suddenly, Zoe heard someone yelling "Jake is a donkey!!!" in the background.
Jake: "Thanks, i really appreciate it..."
Zoe: "Haha! Who was THAT?"
Jake: "Guess and i'll be answering your question."
Zoe: "Ehm... Ryan?"
Jake: "Ding ding!"
Zoe: "Is that a yes?"
Jake: "Yep. On to your question: I liked our talk yesterday... and... I indeed have feelings for you now..."

Zoe was starting to get enthusiastic and was so happy to hear that.

Zoe yelled out of happiness. This day was about to be her favorite one. Zoe laid down her phone.

Jake heard the yell of course, as well as Lily. Lily came upstairs.

Zoe: "Haha! I think i got someone who loves me!"
Lily: "See? You always say no one loves you, but now you got proof it is the opposite. I always told you you were..."

She grabbed her phone again.

Meanwhile...

Ted, the policeman, was going to Jess. Jess was in a prison cell, waiting for her punishment. Ted came to tell Jess it's almost time.
Ted: "It's almost time for your trial."
Jess: "Yeah... I wonder how my friends are doing."
Ted: "Well, i'm sure they're doing good."
Jess: "I hope so. You're doing your work pretty good, mister."
Ted: "Thank you, but you're not going away with this by just simply giving me compliments. Even if you saved my life you aren't going away with this."
Jess: "look, i just wanted to give you a compliment because it's true: You saved my best friend Zoe from Harold!"
Ted: "Ah yes, Zoe. Well, i'll see you in 2 days."
Ted went out of the cell and closed it. He also locked it again. He went to the other policemen.

Once Zoe was at Jake's house...

Jake heard the doorbell and decided to go open it. (obviously) Zoe was on the other side of the door.
Zoe: "Hi, Jake!"
Jake: "Hi! Come in!"
Zoe went in the house, where they went to Jake's room and were talking a bit about things. Like Jake's pets.
Jake: "Well, my cat is doing fine. Did you get his name yet?"
Zoe: "Uh, no? What's his name then?"
Jake: "Well, Max is sleeping, so i can't let him come here."
Zoe: "Max? That's his name?"
Jake: "Yeah... It's a weird name..."
Zoe: "Oh no, not at all. In fact, i think it's a funny name for a cat. I can imagine him being orange and white, with the pattern of a cow."
Jake: "Heh heh... Well... He's BLACK and white, does that count?"
Zoe: "I don't know. *giggle* Count for what?"
Jake: "I have absolutely no idea..."
They were sitting on the ground at first, but then Jake went up.
Jake: "I'll go check if there's something nice to eat in the fridge."
Zoe (who sat on the ground): "Okay."
Jake tried to walk from the room, but... he hit his foot against the bed REALLY hardly. He saw something he wanted to kick against, and he accidentally hit the bed.
Jake: "AAAAH!! (****)!!!"
Zoe: "W-what?"
Jake: "Urgh! Ow! I hit my (****) foot against the bed!!"
Zoe went up and asked if she could help.
Jake: "Yes, please... Ow. I see my foot is bleeding a bit."
Zoe: "I don't wanna see it."
She was going downstairs and grabbed a first-aid kit (of which surprisingly there was one in Jake's house) then went back upstairs again. Jake went on his bed, in the meantime. Once she was upstairs, she laid down the kit, opened it and looked for something to prevent the wound to be infected before she places a bandage on it. At last, she found it. She used it on the wound, then placed the bandage on the wound.
Jake: "Argh. Wow, you sure know what to do, right?"
Zoe: "Well, i payed attention on school."
Jake: "Ah yes. School. I thought the summer break was next week?"
Zoe stopped doing something. That reminded her of something: Some school friend of Mike and Rachel invited them, Philip... everyone to a party at the start of the summer break. Blast! How could she forget that? She wanted to save money for special clothes for that party. Some clothes no one can take their eyes off.
Jake: "Z-Zoe?"
Zoe: "Right. Sorry."
Jake: "What just happened there?"
Zoe: "Oh, nothing."
Zoe seemed to look serious, probably because she assisted Jake with his foot. Later on, she was done.
Zoe: "There, it's done."
Jake: "Gee, thanks! Do i need to do something in return?"
Zoe: "Nah, it's fine."
Zoe laid down the first-aid kit on the ground and fell on the other side of Jake's bed. There could sleep two people in Jake' bed, and Jake laid on the left side, Zoe on the right side. She sighed really hard.
Jake: "Tired?"
Zoe: "Huh?"
Jake: "Well, if someone sighes, in my house we say "Tired?". It's because it sounds as if you're out of breath."
Zoe: "Ah, then i get it now."
Jake: "Heh heh... Yeah..."
It became silent. The only sound was the ticking of Jake's clock and the snoring of Max, who decided to go to Jake in the meantime to sleep in his room. The two were staring at the ceiling. Suddenly, Zoe was turning to look at Jake. She laid one hand over his right shoulder. She looked at Jake with bright eyes.
Zoe: "So... What do you like about my body?"
Jake: "Is there a special reason why you ask that?"
Zoe: "*giggle* No, not at all."
Jake: "Well... I like your hair color... Your length... Your voice... How your black hair, green eyes and white skin color make a lovely combination... But i absolutely love your eyes. They're so..."
Zoe: "So...?"
Jake: "...mystical. And so mysterious."
Zoe: "So you love my eyes? Most people say "like", but you're one of the few who says "love"..."
Jake: "Oh really?"
Zoe: "Yep. Not much people say they LOVE a body part."
Jake: "Yeah, but it is just your mysterious eyes that make you so lovely and beautiful."
Zoe smiled at Jake. She felt wonderful when Jake said that. In the meantime she was playing a bit with Jake's hoody. Suddenly, she stopped doing that. They were looking at each other. Zoe was thinking: Okay, now is the perfect time, i think.
Jake: "You got something in your hair."
Zoe: "Oh?"
Jake had his hand behind Zoe's head and pulled out a cookie crumb, it appears.
Jake: "I don't know how you got THIS in your hair..."
Zoe: "*giggle* Yeah, me neither."
They were silent once again. Zoe closed her eyes and moved her mouth slowly towards Jake's mouth to kiss him. Well... She tried, but...
Max: "Meow!"
Jake: "Oh!"
Max went on the bed to check what Jake was doing.
Jake: "Hey, Max."
Max: "Meow! Purr!"
Max laid on the bed, laying against Zoe's belly. He felt comfortable when he was with Zoe, it seemed.
Zoe: "Aww, he likes me!"
Jake: "I never saw that happening, that Max likes a stranger..."
Zoe: "Yeah, i can be nice with animals. Except dogs. I'm allergic to dogs."
Zoe laid her hand on Max and started to pet him. Max liked it a lot. He felt comfortable, and so were Zoe and Jake when they were together. It became silent, as Zoe was still petting Max. Zoe had that thought again. Her heart started to pound faster and she was nervous, but it didn't matter now. Zoe moved her mouth to Jake's mouth once again. They tried to kiss each other once again. They succeeded now, and they had a wonderful moment there. It was clear now that Jake loved Zoe and Zoe loved Jake.

And so, 3 minutes later, they were done. For now, at least. Zoe went up and was sitting on the bed.
Zoe: "I just thought of something..."
Jake: "Like?"
Zoe: "We were kissing and have no relationship... Wait..."
Jake: "What?"
Zoe: "I can't believe i just did it..."
Jake: "What? That we kissed each other?"
Zoe: "Yeah! This was the first kiss i've ever had in my life!"
Jake: "Well, it was nice, i'll give you that."
Zoe: "What do you mean?"
Jake: "Eh... i've kissed before. But hey, i was drunk back then, i couldn't help it."
Zoe: "So... You say you've kissed someone... already?"
Jake went off the bed and went to Zoe's side, going to sit next to her.
Jake: "Yes. But you're going to be my first girlfriend if you want."
Zoe: "You're serious?"
Jake: "Yes, i'm serious."
Zoe didn't realized what Jake asked her. Zoe was so happy when he asked that, she tackled Jake so that she laid on Jake.
Jake: "Blurg!"
Zoe: "Yes! Yes! Yes! One thousand times yes!"
Jake: "Gllg... Okay... Urgh... I don't wanna be rude, but i think you have your full weight on me now."
Zoe: "Oh! Oops!"
She went up again. Jake finally had some space and some time to breathe again. He was breathing heavily.
Zoe: "Oh come on, it was not an elephant that laid on you..."
Jake: "You're right... I was just joking around."
Zoe: "*giggle* I know!"
The two started to talk about several subjects again, this time as boyfriend and girlfriend.

Later on, when it was turning dark...

Jake and Zoe were going to say goodbye.
Jake: "Well, i'll see you... tomorrow?"
Zoe: "Oh, i can't. My mom needs me tomorrow for some tests at the hospital."
Jake: "Oh... Then we got a little problem. On school?"
Zoe: "Absolutely."
Zoe kissed Jake a little bit again and hugged him tight.
Zoe: "I'm gonna miss you, after everything we did in these 5 hours i've been here."
Jake: "Zoe, i'm not gonna die or something. If i'm leaving or going, i'll tell you."
Zoe: "You promise?"
Jake: "I'll promise."
Zoe: "Okay. Then i'll promise to do the same thing."
Lily came to Jake's house to pick Zoe up. Lily went to Jake's house with her car.
Zoe: "Well, i guess i'll see you Monday."
Jake: "Yep. See you then!"
Zoe: "Bye!"
Zoe went in the car and they drived home again.

Once she was home, she ran upstairs to her room. Lily thought: What's up with her? Meanwhile, Zoe turned on her PC to send an e-mail to her friends. And while she waited, she was playing a game on her phone. 4 minutes later, the PC was done starting up. Zoe clicked the inbox for her e-mail adress and was sending an e-mail (with excitement) about her first relationship. She included Jake in the e-mail, and set the people who could read it to only Mike, Rachel, Philip, Jordan, Ryan, and some more people. However, she accidentally set that as the SUBJECT, meaning EVERYONE from school could read it. Zoe didn't see this, until...
Zoe: "Oh wait. Oh, snap! Oh help, i didn't mean to..."
The e-mail was already been sent to everyone. Zoe let her head fall on the desk, making a loud sound. She was disappointed in herself that she actually did that. She moved her head up again.
Zoe: "Oh god... There goes my reputation... *sigh*"
She went up and walked downstairs. She heard a lot of laughter coming from the living room.
???: "And i said: "Quick! Get him some ice cubes! I think he's fainting because he thinks he's the loose-er!!"
A person said that and he and Lily were laughing a lot.
Zoe: "Huh?"
Zoe recognized that voice. She heard that voice for the last time when she was 6... Could it be? She looked at the living room. There was someone sitting there, but... he had only one leg. He had green eyes and black, short hair. And he was quite tall.
Zoe: "D-d..."
???: "Ah, there she is."
Lily came out of the living room, to see Zoe.
Lily: "Do you know who he is?"
Zoe left a tear and looked very happy.
Zoe: "D-d-dad?..."
???: "Yes, it's me, at last. I was..."
Zoe ran towards her father to hug him tight. She was so relieved that her dad returned at last. But... Wasn't he dead? Didn't Maria told Zoe that her father died? That he got killed?
Zoe was crying and said while crying: "Dad! I was so worried about you... I thought you'd never returned..."
Nathan: "I was wondering how you were as well, princess... I'm so happy to see you two now, although i've lost my leg."
Lily: "Want some coffee?"
Nathan: "Yes, please."
Zoe was still hugging Nathan and didn't seem to let go. She was happy her father returned. They were very close to each other. They always were. Since Zoe was born.
Zoe: "But... Dad... Grandma said you..."
Nathan: "I know, but everyone made that up and spreaded lies about me. Apparently they told grandma those lies too. Sit down, i'll tell you two the truth"
Zoe and Lily went to the couch and sat on it.
Zoe: "Did mom knew this already?"
Nathan: "No, i wanted you to come down first."
Zoe: "That reminds me: I got a problem."
Nathan: "Do you want to hear the truth first or tell your problem first?"
Zoe: "I'll be listening."
Nathan: "Okay... Here it goes, and this is all true: I was snowboarding on the Himalaya's, and once i was too far from the hotel, a snowstorm went up. I couldn't see anything. And after, apparently, 15 minutes (which felt like 3 hours) i got knocked out and went in a coma. I couldn't remember anything of this, but apparently i had a camera mounted on my snowboarding suit. And it even said the time: 14:52 PM, on the 15th of January, 2008. That was two years after i... *sigh* left you guys... And i regret going away all the time..."
Zoe: "...2008?"
Lily: "Nathan, honey. Don't think so bad about this. At last, you couldn't help the snowstorm. And i'm glad you're here now, that makes this situation alright."
Nathan: "*sigh* I guess you're right... Well then, Zoe."
He laughed a bit.
Nathan: "I still can't believe i'm here. But princess, i have a question for you: What happened in the time i was on that horrible vacation?"
Zoe: "Dad, you don't wanna know how much good things happened, and how few bad things!"
Nathan: "Tell me the good things first."
Zoe went up.
Zoe: "Right. First of all, and mom doesn't know this yet, but... I got a boyfriend!"
Nathan: "Oh really?"
Lily: "Wow..."
Nathan: "And... what's his name? And where does he come from? How old is he? Where did you guys..."
Zoe: "*giggle* I get it. His name is Jake, he's from nearby, he's 17 and we...?"
Nathan: "*whispers* You gotta click on my play button..."
Zoe: "Dad... I'm not 6 anymore."
Nathan: "I get it... You're in a hurry, am i right?"
Zoe: "For what?"
Nathan: "For your date."
Zoe: "I have no date planned for now."
Nathan: "You should be proud of yourself, princess: You just got your first boyfriend, right?"
Zoe: "Dad!!"
Nathan: "...?"
Lily: "Zoe, i know you're getting angry. Control it and go to your room to relax a bit."
Zoe: "I'm not getting angry, but if he keeps on going with his stupid jokes, then i regret being HERE!"
Nathan: "Oh, so i make "stupid jokes", right? Do you think i cannot be serious since you were born?"
Zoe: "Yes, since you were always joking."
Nathan: "GET TO YOUR ROOM! NOW! I DON'T WANT TO SEE YOU HERE TODAY!"
Zoe: "*gasp*"
Out of frustration and fear, Zoe ran to her room a slammed the door, making it close. She locked it as well. Meanwhile, Lily and Nathan were argueing. Nathan grabbed his suitcase and began packing some stuff from him.
Lily: "Nathan, i think that was a bit too harsh."
Nathan: "Oh, now it is ME who does the wrong things?! Look, Lily, i just wanted to live here again. I better pack my stuff and leave, since Zoe isn't happy that i'm here."
Lily: "So... You did this all just for Zoe?"
Nathan let his head fall on his suitcase.
Nathan: "Yes... And if she doesn't appreciate me or my attention to her... Who am i then besides an useless father?"
Lily: "You're not useless, and i'm sure she appreciates it all. She just needs to get used to you being here again. It has been 10 years since you left, after all."
Nathan: "I'm so happy that i came back... I just can't get over it, but i want to stay if that's okay..."
Lily: "You're welcome here. And i'm sure Zoe thinks the same way about that as i do."
Nathan: "Thanks..."
They hugged each other. Suddenly, the phone rang. Lily didn't recognize the number.
Nathan: "That may be Lola and Dean. I said they could call me if i returned home safely."
Nathan picked up the phone. He was talking with his two friends Lola and Dean, both as old as Nathan is: 33. Lola had kids on her own, Dean didn't. But Dean was incredibly good in designing video games.

The next day...

Zoe woke up, realizing she had her normal clothes on, laying on the ground. And the PC still was turned on. That's going to cost a lot of money... Zoe didn't feel her right hand, because she appeared to lay on her hand. She didn't quite realize she had her other hand laying on her thigh, slightly more below her thigh. And that she had been painting stuff last night. And that the paint was on her left hand.
Zoe: "H-huh?..."
She went up from the ground, but indeed saw some black paint on the floor when she pushed herself off the ground.
Zoe: "Oh, right. I was painting last night..."
Someone knocked the door. Zoe looked at her pink alarm clock: It was already 12:41 in the afternoon.
Zoe: "Yes?"
It appeared Jake was in the house.
Jake: "Hey, Zoe."
Zoe: "Jake!"
They hugged each other.
Zoe: "I'm so happy you're here!"
Jake: "That's why i'm here: To make my day good! But for you, even better: I decided to go to the Netherlands with another 3 people! And i heard your mom wanted to go there with you, so... No need to pay money!"
Zoe: "Jake... I... Don't know what to say... *giggle* It's great!!"
Jake: "I know, right? Your mom already knows, and your dad does too."
Zoe: "Did you meet my dad already?"
Jake: "Yeah, he was pretty nice to me."
Zoe: "Cool. When are we going?"
Jake: "I think it was upcoming Friday!"
Zoe: "Wow, that's pretty soon."
Jake: "Yep, better pack your stuff then!"
Zoe: "Yeah, i might do that later on. Anyway, i had an appointment at the doctor today, i thought it was at 2:00 PM."
Jake: "Ah, i see. For what is it, if i may ask?"
Zoe: "Well, i have to give the result of some urine test."
Jake: "Oh, is it important?"
Zoe: "well, it hurts a bit if i... you know..."
Jake: "Yes, go to the toilet. I know. Heh heh. Don't worry about me."
Zoe: "Riiight... Heh heh..."
She kissed Jake quickly.
Zoe: "See you later, Jakey!"
Zoe went out of her room.
Jake: "See you!"
Jake went out of Zoe's room too. He was right behind Zoe, because he said he was going home already.
Zoe: "Why can't we walk together to the doctor?"
Jake: "Uhm... Okay, then. Let's go."
Lily: "Oh, Jake! Don't sneak in if Zoe..."
Jake: "I know, i'll give her her privacy."
Lily: "Good."
The two were going to the doctor. On their way, they talked about a lot of things again. But something else happened as well: Jake walked in somebody.
???: "Ow! Hey, you weirdo! Watch it!"
Jake: "Sorry, i didn't see you there!"
Zoe: "Is there anything we can do for you?
???: "Yes, bring this to Birchwood street 4."
The person gave a letter. Surprisingly enough, it was for Jake.
Jake: "But... I live there."
???: "Oh, then YOU are Jake! I'm Kimmy O'Brian!"
Zoe: "Hey, i've seen you at my grandma's house... You were throwing food at Mike, Philip and Jordan!"
Kimmy: "Eh... Yes? That's right?"
Kimmy looked at her watch.
Kimmy: "Look, i'm actually in a hurry. See you two on school!"
Jake: "Bye!"
Zoe: "..."
Jake: "What's wrong, Zoe?"
Zoe: "*sigh* Why do we always WALK into someone new..."
Jake: "I don't know. We can also run, but that's more painful."
Zoe: "Ah, we're at the hospital."
They were indeed at the hospital. They were looking for the doctor Zoe had an appointment with: Doctor Smith. They found her easily. Dr. Smith, Zoe and Jake were going to Dr. Smith's office(?) to give the result.
Dr. Smith: "Welcome back, Zoe!"
Zoe: "Thanks!"
Dr. Smith: "And who's this? I haven't seen him the first time you came."
Jake: "I'm her boyfriend."
Dr. Smith: "Ah, that makes a lot clear. Anyway Zoe, i had to give you the task to bring some urine. Do you got the bottle with you?"
Zoe: "Uh, yeah. It's in my bag."
She was looking for her bottle. At last, she found it and gave it to the doctor.
Dr. Smith: "Thank you. I'll hand it over to the researchers(?) and then they will find out why it hurts when you go to the toilet. Do you go a lot of just not at all?"
Zoe: "Well, on school i don't use them because they're very gross, and at home... Well... It's not quite comfortable."
Jake: "Zoe, you need to go to the toilet more often. Otherwise you'll get an infection."
Zoe: "I know, Jake. But i just can't go to the toilet very well..."
Dr. Smith: "Well, don't you have a bathroom with a toilet at your house, Zoe?"
Zoe: "Uh... Actually, no."
Dr. Smith: "You got some black paint down there, by the way."
Zoe: "Huh? Oh, yeah. I was painting last night and apparently fell asleep really quickly."
Dr. Smith: "If you want, you can wash it off here. I already called one of the researchers(?) to bring results from another patient. And they'll take the bottle with them as well."
A person indeed opened the door and brought some papers. He also took the bottle.
Researcher: "Is this your urine, miss?"
Zoe: "Uh, yeah. That's correct."
Dr. Smith: "Our Zoe here has some problems and i wanted you guys to find out what the source is."
Researcher: "Okay, i'll work on it."
The researcher went out the room and closed the door again.
Dr. Smith: "Well, i guess i'll contact you whenever we know something about this situation, Zoe. Is your mom home?"
Zoe: "Yes, she always is. And my dad lives there too since yesterday."
Dr. Smith: "Your dad? Nathan?"
Zoe: "You know him?"
Dr. smith grabbed her bag and looked for something.
Dr. Smith: "Well, i was friends with him for a long time, but in 2006... We had to say goodbye."
Zoe: "What's your first name? Then i'll say you said hello to him."
Dr. Smith: "That's sweet of you. My name is Alice Smith."
Zoe: "Hmm... I heard dad calling someone named Lola and someone named Dean yesterday! Do you know them?"
Dr. Smith: "Ah yes, Dean and Lola... I should invite them to my son's party."
Jake: "Your... son?"
Dr. Smith: "Yes, i have a picture of him."
She showed a picture of... Martin? Martin was the classmate who appeared in chapter 2. It was pretty cool that Martin has a doctor as mother, and even better: Zoe and Jake met her. Martin always had permission to celebrate the summer break with all his schoolmates. It wouldn't be surprising he was pretty popular.
Zoe: "We know him! He's on our school!"
Dr. Smith: "Really?"
Jake: "Yes, it's true!"
Then the same researcher(?) came back, again with some papers. He gave it to Dr. Smith.
Dr. Smith: "Thanks, Richard. Oh..."
Zoe was thinking: Oh no, looking at Alice's expression, it's not good news.
Dr. Smith: "Zoe, according to these papers, you have an urinary infection."
Zoe didn't knew what she heard. Jake looked at her. Then he looked back at the doctor
Jake: "Is there anything she can do about it?"
Dr. Smith: "Well, above all: Go and take your time on the toilet more often, Zoe. And i'll give you something for it as well..."

When they were heading back home, they saw Kimmy again, this time she had spaghetti with her.
Jake: "I didn't knew Kimmy helped in an Italian restaurant?"
Zoe: "We've only met her today, Jake..."
Kimmy seemed to throw the spaghetti. She aimed for Jake.
Jake: "Wait, is she...?"
Kimmy threw the spaghetti and hit Jake with it.
Jake: "Aah, Kimmy! What the (****) was THAT good for?!"
Jake's face was covered with spaghetti.
Kimmy: "I had to do that for Jordan, who will probably laugh a lot when he hears this!"
Jake: "I don't care, that was NOT cool!"
Kimmy: "Yes it was. If you wanna be cool, then stay cool. And be yourself, of course. And as you saw: being myself means throwing spaghetti a lot."
Zoe: "Jake, it doesn't matter what she says, just ignore her."
Kimmy: "What? "just ignore her"? You know, i'm the mail... eh... I bring mail to anyone from school, so you cannot ignore me! Nananana!"
Zoe: "How old is she again? 5 years?"
Jake: "Probably..."
They were going to home again, while Jake still had spaghetti on him.
Kimmy was yelling mean stuff from the distance. But then she stopped with that. She started talking in herself
Kimmy: "I hate it when people think they're cooler than me. I have to stay awesome, stay being the best! Yes, that's it! Tomorrow, i'll learn them a fantastic lesson. I'll have to make Rachel believe that... And that e-mail... Yes, that's my plan!"
A man walked passed her and said: "You DO know you're talking to yourself, right?"
Kimmy: "Do i know you? No i don't. So stop judging me!"

I made this chapter as a poll, because there's a part here where it says Jake, Zoe, Lily and Nathan are going to the Netherlands. I'm curious: Should i make a bonus chapter without any crime and where they go to the Netherlands and have a fantastic time? Or should they just stay in the USA? (I can rhyme, i know!

)
