As some of you know, Vizzed has been struggling financially over the past year after it took some huge traffic drops and now that January and February have come along (which are already the worst months financially out of the entire year), things are even worst financially. What's even worst on top of that is having to pay taxes this time of year and being self employed (since my income depends on the site's revenue) means that I have to pay in money to the government and it's usually a lot (I don't have the luxury of getting a nice tax return every year). I've been able to get site fees down a little over the past few months but they're still $1000+ a month.

If you have any money to spare, even if it's as little as $10, the donations would be hugely appreciated. If you can donate a big amount, that'd be fantastic but if you can only afford $10 then that's fine too since it adds up. If for example 100 users donated $10 each, that'd be $1000 right there which would help out greatly (and the majority of users most likely can afford $10, that's like the price of what some people spend on junk food in a week). My job is this site which allows me to work on this site full time (sometimes as much as 60-80 hours a week) so I don't really have any other source if income besides selling my possessions.

Why donate besides helping the site out financially?
Well donating grants you lots of Viz and lots of Viz can get you access to lots of nice items in the Vizzed Market. I would donate, but I too am in the middle of selling all my possessions to pay rent, and if anyone I knew had any they would've given it to help so I don't have to sell my possessions.

I have no financial accumulation whatsoever, my own family is struggling financially right now. If somehow I do make a fantastic financial income, I definitely would make a enormous donation, cause I've been able to do so much and experience so much because of vizzed. Even if some events were painful...., I just have to cope and deal with it.

Also, In my honest opinion, I think that as a near last resort, some features not that popular among vizzed that cost a good sum to run should likely be discontinued, but thats only if the feature in particular fails to accumulate a good enough popularity rate and that combined with what its running cost may be.

NovemberJoy : Users have suggested that but I kinda figured that if users aren't willing to donate through Vizzed then I don't see why donating through Patreon would make any difference. I'll still consider it though.

bananaeater99 : The only 2 features that cost the site money are the Retro Game Room and the Video Game Music Room. The VGMR isn't as high as the RGR though. Both of those features bring in traffic so they're both worth keeping around, for now at least. I may end up downgrading the RGR eventually if things don't pick up which would involve removing most of the CD games such as PlayStation, Dreamcast, Sega Saturn, etc.

I haven't cashed in my most recent check yet, I'm holding off on that until I have absolutely nothing left but once I do I'll see if I can put aside a little bit and also a bit more while I work over the summer.

Patreon could actually be a really good thing. Think about it: the people there obviously already have spare cash because they're there to support people's projects, and it would also give the site slightly more exposure to new users. Unfortunately, it could also be a double edged sword in the way that it could grab the attention of the wrong people and could mean potential litigation against Vizzed. If you think it's a low risk venture, there's certainly no harm in giving it a shot.

I'm sorry if this seems like a wasted post, but I feel this Thread should be bumped just so a lot of the users who generally only look through one page of a forum, or those who only use the New Posts search function can have a little more exposure to this. I still haven't found work, meaning I still can't donate, but I thought this was the least I could do given my current circumstances.

I had a thought a couple days ago. I noticed that a lot of sites including Wikipedia and Humble Bundle accept donations and payment with Amazon bucks and gift cards. I know Amazon cards don't put food on the table or the utilities on, but with enough of them, you could buy up tech with the donations and turn around and sell for a profit. I would also imagine that there would be people willing to donate funds that they get from loyalty programs like Bing Rewards, My Coke Rewards and Swag Bucks since they don't have any other kind of income. You could even take part in some loyalty programs of your own and post referral links on your profile, which, I would think, would get plenty of exposure. Just food for thought.

m0ssb3rg935 : Amazon bucks and gift cards actually would be great because there are every day things that I buy from amazon from time to time so having the amazon funds to buy that would mean I'd save money that I'd be able to put toward other things.

I do plan to expand the donations page and add far more donation options hopefully soon.

How much on average does this site cost monthly. I'm sure I can throw in a 20 dollar donation into the pot.

Last I checked, I think the monthly expenses were around $ 1500 + if not more than that. The $ 1500 may only be the server costs, I can't remember exactly ( the board index page says $ 1500 + for server fees by the monthly donations amount in the vertical info box on the right ). When I finally saw the actual expenses report for a full year, I was blown away by what it actually costs to keep this site up and running as it currently is.
