Im not harassed by this. Nor do I find it mean or am I offended. But maybe im in the wrong LGBTQ group. I found it very funny actually. And unless stated otherwise that tRIUNE is"mocking", im thinking they're fine with it too. Just because you make 1 joke doesnt make it homophobic. And homophobic's dont joke, havnt you noticed? The mass shooting per example. Wasnt a joke. The signs petitioning for the law not to get passed for equal marriage, saying actual hateful things about gays, not a joke. However, this is a joke. So... Untill then... it should be treated as a joke.

blunt, but it's not like he's resorting to what people call hate speech
or anything. It's like this... There was a mass shooting and they were
targeted because they were homosexual. It's a horrible, tragic thing,
but I can also say that the same people target people because they're
Christian or because they're white or a number of other reasons. I'm not
downplaying what happened or saying it doesn't matter, all I'm saying
is that there shouldn't be any more outrage over one group being target
than the other. Anyway, I'm not trying to turn this into a debate thread
or anything. Wrong forum for that.

I will come out too. I am a lesbian trapped in a man's body. I like women and things women do. I'm all about it and I'm not at all attracted to men emotionally or sexually. I'm stuck with a man's frame so it kinda works out okay for me.

Not a big fan of this thread, to be honest.

I know it's supposed to be a light-hearted joke and all but it's not a very good one to make after that shooting and someone actually coming out on vizzed.

imamonster : I could be wrong but I think the point of this thread was to poke fun at how people always feel the need to tell everyone in the world that they're gay and they always receive praise and attention for it. For once someone is getting attention and praise for being straight.

There was a time when being gay was extremely uncommon but now days it seems like every other user is gay so now it doesn't seem so "special" anymore. You don't really see users of different races letting making threads about being that race.

I think society needs to stop grouping everyone into categories. We should all view each other based on our common interests and stop looking at what makes us all different.

EDIT: I mean no offense to anyone so please don't take any.

Davideo7 : That's what I figured, though in most cases I find that people come out because they want people to know straight up in stead of finding out later and possibly judging them for it as many still think it should be illegal. Usually the natural assumption is that someone is straight, and that's living a lie to them. Hence why you don't see straight people coming out. Sure there may be some who do it for the attention but they're far from the majority.

As for why there seems to be so many homosexual people today it's likely because it has become more socially acceptable. People dare be open about it. In the past telling almost anyone about it was social suicide and could even lead to legal consequences. Also while the internet may make it seem like there's a lot, I don't think most people have met that many outside of the internet, and a lot probably close to no transsexual people. Since people are much more likely to be judged for it outside of the internet and face exclusion.

Really though if coming out about ones sexuality is something that makes people feel more comfortable about it I don't really have a problem with it. All that said I do wish people would spend less time labelling others like you said and really just stop treating sexuality as such a big deal in general. Whatever happened to live and let live? :V
