The Video Game Music Room is already 6 months old and has made a lot of progress since its launch. It now has nearly 100,000 songs among 5000+ games for nearly 30 different systems with new songs being added weekly. If you still haven't used it, be sure to check it out here:

Because the Video Game Music Room has so many songs, we need as many ratings as we can possibly get in order to help the good songs stand out and for the bad songs not to. I'll give anyone who is willing to help rate songs up to 50,000 Viz! A great opportunity to earn more Viz for the Vizzed Market. All you have to do is search for music and rate it. I've temporarily made it so that you can get CP credit for rating 100s of songs during this offer and I also made it so that the default order of songs is based on overall rating in order to mix things up (too many SNES songs were showing up in the default order and I want more than just SNES songs rated).

Here are some rules in order to qualify:
-Don't rate everything the same rating (this would lead me to assume you didn't listen to anything).
-You will only get credit for songs that you earned CP from (you can see how many you've been credited for in the 'Song Rating' section on your Contributions Page).
-Songs must be at least 15 seconds long to count to prevent users from rating tons of jingles and sound effects.
-There must be a 25 second gap in between rating songs to prevent users rating random songs without listening to them.
-Only ratings made on and after 6/14/2016 count.
-This offer ends June 30th.

Here's how much Viz I'll give you guys based on how many songs you rate:
+25 Songs = 10,000 Viz
+50 Songs = 25,000 Viz
+100 Songs = 60,000 Viz

Tips:
-If you have a preference on game system then search for games based on system
-You can find collections of songs by searching through user playlists

Once you've rated enough songs to qualify you for Viz, be sure to let me know in this thread and I'll send you the Viz. Keep in mind that you'll also be automatically earning CP and Viz when you rate these songs so you'll be getting my bonus Viz on top of the regular Viz.

What is the cap for how many CP actions you can get from rating songs? I'm just kinda curious since I never count how many I rate and I only notice when I stop getting CP for it

Also do you mean after 6/14/2016 as in 6/15/2016 or do you mean only submissions after this post is made?

yoshirulez! : According to the CP page, as a trusted user you stop earning CP after 375 ratings in one day, which is a lot.

As mentioned in my post, I temporarily increased the daily CP limit for Song Rating. It's pretty high so you wont have to worry about being affected by it.

Is this a one-time thing? Do we get only one take on it? Just want to make sure since someone can choose stop right there at 50 song ratings for example and redeem their Viz, or they can go all the way up to 100+ and check after that so the person can redeem dem 60 big grands. Not sure how this would work since I'd gladly rate over 100 songs even if we didn't had a Viz prize at all (I already started rating a few minutes ago, starting with the Sonic franchise soundtracks I loved).

As managers of the VGMR, do gamerforlife and I qualify, even if we just happen to to rate enough songs without even trying? I didn't want to assume so, and it would seem like a waste to pass it up if we do hit the mark.

Also, I've had problems rating certain songs. For example, every song I tried to rate (about the first 4 or so) of the Donkey Kong 64 soundtrack, the system didn't register my rating (or so it seemed) and when I checked to see if more Viz was given, it hadn't been. Also, the Golden Sun: Dark Dawn soundtrack. After #69, I tried rating a few and none went through. Just giving you a heads up. Thanks!

I've rated a fair few today (maybe two hundred) so for whatever I earned - thanks, though it was really just a pleasure to hear certain music again.

Took me a while but I really loved this long, couple-of-hours nostalgia trip. I rated 101 songs so far, in case proof is needed - I'm not sure, forgot to ask but either way better safe than sorry - I took a screenshot a few minutes ago: http://i.imgur.com/6Sj5RbR.png

Now I hope the Video Game Music database grows more and more with the time, there's a lot of great tracks that could fit there, for example, the rest of the Crash Bandicoot franchise, especially Crash 2. As far as I recall, Josh Mancell posted on his SoundCloud (then mass-posted in YouTube) the majority of the Crash trilogy's original soundtrack before it got heavily compressed to fit PlayStation 1's limitations, labeled them as "pre-console" music. If nobody does that, I think I'll do it myself given enough time, 'cuz they sound as great as the compressed ones :3

Davideo7 : But some of the times I waited for those were in excess of a minute. In addition, they didn't seem to even register, unlike one of the earlier ones I did, which provided a message saying I hadn't waited long enough. These did not.

Davideo7 : Ha ha, even without knowing that I rated 250 songs yesterday as I like to listen VGM and because that is a great way to make vizs ! So I'm happy that I'll receive 60 000 vizs 60 000 more vizs . Thank you a lot for this David. I'll still continue to rate those songs like I started more than a week ago.

Davideo7 : Hey Davideo finished rating over 100 songs. Also think I know what supernerd117 is talking about. A lot of songs in the games individual play lists. List the songs as 0:00 or 0:01 in length. Even though most are longer. So when you rate them it's considering them as less than 0:15 and not giving cp, viz, or credit for rating them. Not sure if that's a configuration error or if these have to be manually entered for each song.

I almost made the mistake of going to Youtube the other day when a Sonic Adventure song (Welcome to Station Square) was stuck in my head, but then I remembered this feature! Guess I'll just have to listen to the entire soundtrack and give them proper ratings now. Too many below a 4 average from what I see. I'll edit this with your summon when I'm done (if that works).

Davideo7: I "should" have now rated at least 50 songs, but may only qualify for the 25 Song reward as I recall many instances where it didn't seem like my vote went through. I even watched the total number of votes for the song and it remained unchanged. I have no idea why some would go through and not others. I would often listen to the track in its entirety before click "Rate/Add" and only received acknowledgement about 70% of the time. 

Also, I would like to take this opportunity to point out that neither Sonic Adventure or Sonic Adventure 2 on the Dreamcast are the complete soundtracks for their respective games. I found it odd that neither contained the little jingles and whatnot like most songs and didn't think much of it at first, but eventually noticed a lack of certain sounds. Off the top of my head for evidence for SA1 I notice the main title theme (Open Your Heart) is missing, along with It Doesn't Matter and numerous others. It only seems to contain the themes for Sonic's stages, but multiple characters and themes are present in this game. I can think of less evidence for SA2, but I know for certain the theme for Pumpkin Hill is missing and the secondary (sped-up) music from Metal Harbor is also missing. Also, this game should contain a remixed Green Hill theme since that stage is playable after getting all 180 Emblems. 

I went ahead and rated well over 100 songs over the last 2 days. This was a good idea, it's getting users more involved with the video game music room, which I still say was by far the best new feature of 2015.

Completed my 100 now. It took a while because I'm defeatist and always lose interest but after remembering some nice soundtracks I went ahead and rated those. Weeeee

i just started Rating Songs and adding the ones i do rate to my playlist....

SO many games  so many Memories....

Im going down Memory Lane.....
