Oh.... money. It makes the world go round. In a capitalist society, money is absolutely necessary for survival. Sometimes, it helps us reach our end goals. Other times.... it really inconveniences us. It's give and take. Some of us are a bit too obsessive with it.... Consumerism comes to mind. Money definitely leads to a lot of things. In truth, I'm selfish with it. While I don't intend on spending rather rapidly, I keep it isolated in my bank account, and I'm truly cautious whenever it is used.

What do you think of money and it's impact on our society? Do you like or hate it? Thanks for tagging along.

I've just learnt to accept it as a natural part of being a part of most Western societies. I work enough to secure a reasonable income that allows me to get the basic necessities and have enough of a buffer for unexpected expenses that arise from time to time. I don't even feel the need to seek much more of it, and outside one or two luxury items I wouldn't mind, I have no use for it. (speaking from childless point of view, having a family would change those priorities)

Love it? No. Need it? Yeah. And I think everyone feels the same.

For society to function normally, we need money, yet we feel it's such an inconvenience, which it is sometimes. To motivate people to work hard and benefit their country/place of residence, they need money, or the government is bound to fail. Without money (or something to barter with), no one would actually work from the good of their heart-- and that's human nature! Yet, it causes such differences in society. A caste system of finances (impoverished, middle-class, rich, etc...), isolation due to their situation, crimes fueled by lust of richness (identity theft, burglary), and loss of opportunities (college, school, sporting academies) all come from money, and it sometimes affects people who don't deserve that. Really smart and honest people can be denied basic human rights/privileges like healthcare by being born into poverty or being scammed.

Nothing is perfect, and money is a prime example.

I might be treading on Econ 101 stuff here but let's play a game:

Imagine a machine where you can put anything with value into it, including services like doing things, and on the other end, out pops anything you want. That's what money is.

Money is an expression of value for goods and services that is shared around the world. If we were in the barter system, and I build cars and you make corn, how many bushels of corn equals one car? It's tough to chop up a car or give you only 10 bushels of corn worth of car at a time for payment.

Money, and the value it represents, simplifies all that. Money is the ability to quantify every single person's value of labor and production. It makes trade easy, it encourages creativity in the workplace, and it's a great tool.

Do I love it? Yes, because of what it represents. It's an awesome idea.

Do I love it as in "I need to have a ton of money"? No. It's helpful and it keeps life very nice for me but I don't have to get as much as possible.

We need it but I don't love it.
Love comes to me as the most important aspect of myself, then people, then my board. Money's somewhere not in that list.

I was reading a book someday and saw money was invented in the Romanian times, to make trading more easier. It sure makes it all easy, but most people are obsessed with it, like robbing a bank to get everything, or wanting a lot of money without stealing. That kind of stuff.

I wouldn't say i hate, let go LOVE it. I just like it, but i surely don't love it, because if i said "I love money", then i would say i'm one of those creeps in the world who loves money. No, i'm not a creep like that.

Love it? Nah. In fact, I'd rather live without money...but it does serve as an object lesson. In a perfect society, money isn't needed, in my opinion. But we aren't perfect. We have to deal with it until we are (at least). And that won't happen in this lifetime. But children should love money, proven by this video:

I don't love money, but I need it. These days, sadly, everything is money. If you don't have money, you're dead .  People are focusing on money too much.

Once, in my country, there was a woman giving birth in a hospital, but the doctors didn't help her. Why? Because she had no money. Can you believe it?! They think money is more important than health, which is not at all.

I'm no money lover but I am sure as in heck in need of it. To help my family with things and such. As Luigi said in his post nowadays its all about money and when people want money they go crazy for having ways to obtain it. Its quite sad when you think about of how the world has come to. To do with money and all. :/

I think it would be cool to be rich, but I think it would get boring after a while to have to much money to spend. My work does make me more money I need. As long I'm getting enough money to live I'm just as happy as the rich or even more happy. My life now is just perfect. A perfect girlfriend that I just moved in together. For me that's worth more then what money can give me

The only reason I really have any desire for money is the fact that I can do good things with it. If (and that's a really, really big if) I can make a living, and maybe even get wealthy from a legitimate venture without ripping people off, I could do any number of things like opening orphanages or adopt foster children or donate food or help with disaster relief.... That list goes on. I'm very, very often caught up in my own selfish wanting, but I catch myself and try to kick greed.

supernerd117 : I'm intrigued. Walk me through this society where there's no money and no tradable form of value for goods and services? How's that go?

Is this a trick question? Seriously? Everyone loves money. With enough money, the world is yours. Money makes all countries possible. You must buy and sell stuff, why not have an item that everyone accepts. It would be a hell of a lot easier than bartering. Money is a double edged sword, yes we all need it,but it can also be the root of all evil.

No, this isn't a trick question. I'm asking you, man to man, if you personally like the concept of money. Do you like working hard to acquire it? Or is it just a burden that consumes your life and destroys it when not having it, but you try to get it anyway to save your skin? That is the question.

Ghostbear1111 : Certainly! People have stuff, but no official money, such as dollar bills. If someone needs something, you give it to them. If you need something, they give it to you. Basically, it's a selfless society that sustains itself through the honesty of the people.

I don't really LOVE money, but I definitely like it :3. It helps me get what I want, and it gives me some more freedom on what I can get. Too bad I rarely ever get money (except on holidays). Oh well, at least there's the market system to allow me to get steam games for viz, which satisfies my money spending compulsion :p.

There are some people who take money loving to the next level though. Which is probably why they turned evil or something xp. Or something like that, idk how to read much deeper into this plz halp :c. (other posts explain it much better than me plz read those xp)

I don't see how you can love an object... Sadly money/currency is a needed thing... Humans are a selfish creature... So as much as people want to say that life would be great without it... it won't stop people lying/cheating/stealing etc.... and will cause more problems then it will solve... after all who would pay for repairs to roads and such if there was no money.... I don't see people doing a hard days work for the mere satisfaction of it lol.

Money actually is a large driving force when it comes to motivation and dreams too... ~

I don't love money... but it is necessary.

Yah I love money, my favorite thing about money is that I can sit at home and know that I can get something nice to eat the next day, which I think about every night lol.

Of course I love money. I guess if we're being technical, I love having the ability to get whatever it is I need or want. It's not so much about the money itself, as it is about fulfilling my desires and necessities.

I would much rather have the guarantee of getting a lot of things I want, and everything I need over having tons of money. Money is only as valuable as society deems it to be, so if society no longer places any value in a certain form of currency, then having that money is pretty much worthless. Plus having money in excess can change a person. I'm not sure I'd like what I'd turn into if I had riches beyond what I'd need to live comfortably.
