I love permadeath runs. Basically, you play any video game you consider yourself to be good at, and you try to get as far as you can without dying once. When you die once, you have to start the game over from the beginning. This is often paired with other self-imposed limitations of turning offf the game HUD so you don't see the amount of enemies on your radar, can't see how much health you have left, don't know when you're hurting for ammo, etc etc. It really makes you value life a lot more, knowing that one slip-up can cause to your death, just like in real life.

Personally, I've attempted a Far Cry 3 permadeath, and tonight I'm starting a permadeath run on Grand Theft Auto V in first-person camera mode.

Have you tried this once? If so, what's your favourite game to permadeath?

RunDST : Never tried perma death mainly because I haven't had any games with that option. The closest thing I've done is hardcore mode in Fallout and Minecraft.

It is something I've wanted to to. However I'd probably only do it after I've thoroughly played the game normally. I like to mess around when I want to and such and I couldn't do that in perma death. It does make for a good challenge and actually gives dying a consequence.

I used to love to do perma-deathruns, but alas I can't do it anymore... Not literally, but emotionally. When I lose my last life nowadays, I almost blow up in anger.

But back when I could
control my anger, I liked doing it on the GameBoy Mario games. Sometimes I go and purposely killed myself to get down to my last life, and then I started the run.

Recently I tried it on GTA IV and V... And once online... Pretty fun... until I almost through the controller at the TV... xD

But yeah, a while ago I loved to do perma-deathruns...

I love permadeath that is in games, I been playing a indie game called Wasted, it is on Steam, and is published by Adult Swim Games, and if you die, your character is never coming back, and I can understand the frustration behind that, but at the same time, I love it.

I say.... Destiny. When you are on a good run you'll know. I always count my deaths and don't if I have not died. When you have not died it means you have been put on a really good stable team for vanguard missions.but there will be some days a not so good player will appear and mess up everything for you.as in make you do all the hard work die and don't revive you when they should. Then they end up dying ending the mission because they was not using their common sense. Heck I was once a beginner, but I took day mission's to build myself and my confidence to play the game as well. So most of the time I don't let my team down. '-'

I've played a couple games with the option of Perma-Death.

Diablo 2 and 3 have the "Hardcore" mode, where if your character dies just once, they basically get erased from the game and can never be used again. This can be extremely frustrating when you invest 200 + hours in to a single character, only to die near the end of the hardest difficulty because one of the bosses are completely OP lol. The games are set up where you must complete each difficulty to progress to the next one, and each one is infinitely harder than the last, going up in 4 tiers ( Normal, Nightmare, Hell, Inferno ). If you can make it to Inferno with a Hardcore character, you are truly a master of the game, as completing Hell at level 100 is still a very tough challenge, especially not dying once. And even playing on-line in Hardcore is infinitely harder than the normal mode, since they reset the servers which deletes every single character every so often, which is about 6 months to a year, not allowing you to build up items / supplies over a long period of time ( the Hardcore servers are separate from the Normal ones ).

I've played a games like Resident Evil 1, 2, 3, and especially 4 doing Perma-Death runs. I can some what easily get through number 4 on Professional mode with out dying once ( though I'll admit the cinematic action sequences can give me some trouble at times. Looking at you giant boulder that chases me Indiana Jones style >.< ). Considering most of these titles are all about survival, it's pretty fun to play them in a way that makes you value your characters life even more than before.

I tried doing a run like this in Metal Gear Solid - Twin Snakes and number 4. Did not play out very well ha ha. I did much better in Twin Snakes, which was the Game Cube remake of the original title ( and oh my god is it an amazing re-make. Any fan of the franchise should play it the first chance they get! ). Number 4 was quite a bit tougher simply for my lack of experience with the game, as I had only played through it once before trying the Perma-Death run. The next time I have a chance to play it, I would really like to try Snake Eater ( 3 ) in a run like this.

There's been a handful of other games I've done runs like these in, but it's getting harder and harder to dedicate my self to the restrictions. I'd much rather just enjoy playing the game than frustrate / stress my self out to that extent lol
