what songs are associated when you were young?

What did you used to sing or your mom or pop.

What songs were on TV big at the time?

What was the music of your childhood?

What songs define your generation? Does it smell like Teen Spirit was a big one for some pople I know.

Were you a musical youth?

I say most Disney music. Such as the little mermaid part of your world or others as well like a goofy movie stand out. I sing songs that describes how I am feeling or what I may be going through. To help encourage me. Those are the type of music I sang when I was really young. I also sang some of the Barbie films songs like Barbie as the princess and the pauper the end song on my way. Or the cats meow. It was really fun back then singing songs I adored that kept me at peace. And helped me to keep going in life.

PART OF YOUR WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO*cough* *hack* *choke*

Anyways I'd have to say a lot of Mr. Bungle, Slipknot, and Slayer are the most memorable. My dad played it a lot. Though anymore I just prefer like, classical.

Um, this is a little embarrassing but apparently my parents would blast the song "Honkey Tonk Bedonkadonk" on the radio when I was really young, I don't remember it, but they seemed proud of themselves.

Later when I got Internet I listened to and mesmerized The Ultimate Showdown.

I really don't remember most of the music from my childhood but I know that Another One Bites the Dust was a song I heard a lot and I always enjoyed listening to it when it came on. Most of the songs I do remember from my childhood are old hymns that my church would sing like 10,000 Reasons. But now I go to a different church and I don't hear those songs much. I hear newer songs that I can also remember easily and like singing along to!

Jack Jackson - Upside Down is definitely a song from my childhood. I remember hearing it from a Curious George movie that my mother bought the soundtrack for. It was an odd bedtime story but that was definitely my childhood song, I listened to it almost 24/7.

Well, my mom's very southern christian, so we pretty much had gospel music going every second that there was music playing. I liked it at the time, and I even had a CD of it. My dad, who lived in Ohio as opposed to my mom in Tennessee, introduced me to a type of music that I liked much, much better in country. I still like country and gospel, but I only occasionally listen to the former and very, very rarely do anything but sing the latter in church.

Finally though, along came my stepdad when I was around seven years old. That was when I heard my first rock song. Linkin Park: Breaking the Habit. I was instantly hooked, and I love the genre, I listen to it almost constantly, probably for at least an hour and a half a day. Since then, obviously, I've introduced myself to alot more bands and songs, but Linkin Park and Skillet were my first two rock bands, and I still think they're both awesome.

Most of what I remember from when I was really little Is stuff that my parents listened to when they were younger (and still do)
These were songs like; Barrets Privateers by Stan Rogers, Farewell to Nova Scotia by The Irish Rovers, and so many other songs of that nature
As for the songs that were actually popular back then, Not really too sure...

Well, as for what my parents would listen to when I was younger, it was either Country ( mom ) or big hair era Rock n Roll ( dad ) . As for me, it was always Hard Rock ( and maybe a slight touch of Rap ), which was much more modern than what my dad liked, though he did also enjoy listening to a lot of the bands I liked, and vice versa.

My mom always loved listening to guys like Garth Brooks or Alan Jackson, and still does to this day. Both of her parents were from farm country in Kentucky, so the whole Country culture associated with the music is how she was raised for the most part. I don't know for sure, and I don't think she ever did grow up on an actual farm, but she always lived in a very rural area her entire life, and even now where we live is just a pretty small town despite slowly growing over the past 20 years. I mean we have a mom and pop run farm that's maybe a 30 second drive from our house lol. And it's a pretty good sized farm too. Nothing too huge, but they have a ton of stuff they grow and sell, running a shop that sells mass home grown / home made products, similar to what you would see in an Amish community. So yeah, she's always been all about that Country music
My dad has always been a bit of a rebel / trouble maker, though he makes sure not to let it get the best of him since he had kids. Bands like Guns n Roses, AC-DC, Van Halen, Queen, and stuff like that have always been what he really likes. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy them too, but they're definitely not my favorite. Back when he was younger, my dad was really into the whole Rock n Roll lifestyle, wearing his hair like they did and everything. One year for a Halloween party he even dressed up as Gene Simmons from KISS, since they had very similar hair at the time and they're one of his favorite bands. He also really liked stuff like Black Sabbath / Ozzy Osborne and things like that.

As for me, I always loved listening to bands like Linkin Park, Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold, and Godsmack. I really took after my dad in terms of what music I loved to listen to, but really preferred the more modern music of the same genre. I was a really depressed and cold hearted kid for the most part, and a lot of the music I liked reflected that. I never let it show, but I always felt that way, kind of like how I am now. I really like music that expresses how sad life can be, and sings about all the things in life that bring us down. Sad and / or angry music is what I have always lived to hear

I've grown up listening to stuff my dad listened to such as grunge, alternative, punk and thrash metal. Of course going to my grandmothers a lot, I listened to Elvis Presley's entire discography and being subjected to any pop or rap my cousin enjoyed. The first song I can even remember hearing was "Suspicious Minds" by Elvis.

when I was young I listen to alot of Disney movies so I grew up on those songs along with what ever my parents were listening to on the radio which made me bored since their taste in music is very dated XP

one of the movies my parents put on repeatedly when I was little was the 101 Dalmatians because it was my favorite of the ones I had and they said it kept me quiet and entertained

My dad used to taunt me with Werewolves of London when I started crying, which just made me cry more. I've grown to hate and love the song because I hate it and my friends also make fun of me with the song, and it's ironic in a way so I can't help but smile and laugh and encourage it myself. Maybe I'll do it to my son in the future, I don't know. All I know is that I don't enjoy that song for particular reasons.

Anyone who taunts me with it is dead :V You have been warned!

It's been 900 posts since I posted the above, and this thread is closed.. I'm reopening it for TDV.

Another song from my childhood is probably Dead Seeds by Rocket From The Crypt. My dad played it a lot way back when.

A song from my childhood is Harvester of Sorrow by Metallica. It was my first Metallica song I heard, and what made me fall in love with the metal genre, and led me to start learning how to play guitar, and now I'm trying to produce my own covers.

Back when I was young, in my single digits days.... I remember playing "Scatman (Ski-Ba-Bop-Ba-Dop-Bop)" on loop on a Sony boombox. I don't even really know why, really. I guess I thought the song was funny. I still like it today, though.

My mom used to play the early No Doubt albums all the time as well, so I listened to those a lot. I think Tragic Kingdom was the most frequent. In the song "Spiderwebs", I used to mishear the lyric "Sorry I'm not home right now" as "Sorry I'm a woman now", so that became sort of a weird in-joke. Sorry, I'm a woman now.

Of course, who could forget video game music? Sometimes, I would "wah" along with Rave Rush from San Francisco Rush, and probably drove a lot of people in the house crazy. I sure was an annoying kid

Of course, who could forget video game music? Sometimes, I would "wah" along with Rave Rush from San Francisco Rush, and probably drove a lot of people in the house crazy. I sure was an annoying kid

Some songs that I used to sing all the time were Goofy Goober Rock from the spongebob movie and the icarly theme song.

Some songs I also knew were Pressure Point, The IrocZ song, and funny little feeling from MVP Baseball 2004.

I always get nostalgic whenever I hear Just What I Needed by The Cars. For some reason I remember hearing it a lot when I was younger, and it just takes me back.
