Hey there, Vizzians! Green here with another Pokaymoon thread! I'd like to ask you a simple question, fellow Pokemon fans: Do you battle competitively? You know, when you breed for the perfect Pokemon, perfect nature, and stuff.

Honestly I don't care much about IVS, EVS, natures etc... And I'm perfectly fine with those who do. I just believe in my Pokemon, and I battle just for fun. How about you? Do you battle competitively or not? I'd like to hear your voice.

Oh, and I've seen some arguments about this topic on fb (Like some people say it's a bad thing, or waste of time)... I mean, at the end of the day, we all like the franchise. At the end of the day we are all Pokemon trainers. Everyone has their own way to train their team.

I don't really battle competitively, and I don't really care about getting into it. All the moves and EVS and nature stuff seems confusing and I honestly just play Pokemon to catch all the Pokemon and level them up, not become super competitive. I guess it's to be expected since I usually like playing games solo and not so good at games that I can do stuff competitively. I did try Pokemon Showdown a bit, but it's not for me.

Yeah I do. Not as often as I used to but I still go on showdown every now and then. It's just fun to come up with teams and strategies and to see them work out in your favor. (even though my luck is trash)

Mind you I would never do competitive battling if I actually had to breed for IV's, egg moves and natures. I'm not a patient guy lmao

Nope, never. I don't really play online, much less playing competitively.

I used to. The whole reason I got into it in the first place is because I feel that the regular games most of the time don't provide much of a challenge if you're experienced with the franchise (excluding the battle frontier). Especially since the games seem to be made easier and easier with each installment. Meaning that aside from the team building part it gets kind of boring for me.

However I stopped. Not because I don't enjoy battling competitively but because of how time consuming it was to breed Pokemon with good IVs and then EV train them as well as getting items I needed. Which I didn't really find fun at all especially since I'm a very impatient person by nature. I found a good alternative for whenever I feel like battling is playing Pokemon Showdown since it essentially allows me to skip that part and go straight to team building and/or battling which is a lot more fun. 

Overall though I find myself having drifted away a bit from Pokemon and getting more into other games/rpgs compared to how invested I was in the games in the past. Feel like they don't really do enough to change things up to keep me as addicted.

I still love playing pokemon games but. The one thing I steer clear of is pokemon showdown I've learned to know what its about and stuff. I just enjoy beating team rocket or whatever villains that comes me way and also battle for the gym badge as well. I go on the hunt to play any types of pokemon hacks that I have not come across yet that would peak my interest. I am very picky with what I choose so I don't play them all.

I like competitive battling to a certain extent. I don't really go after the best IV's, but I like going after the best nature I can find for a specific Pokemon. I haven't really battled online in awhile, but once Sun and Moon come out, I'll get back to online battles again.

   Well I sort of do. I do not actually train my Pokemon in the actual Pokemon games but I do play Pokemon Showdown all the time and know the top strategies. I would never do it in the actual games though because it seems like far too much work for one Pokemon. I only tried it once and when I did it took me like two days to get the Pokemon perfect and level it up a little bit. It was a Mawile and I got it to level 50 before just giving up on the competitive team totally. That is why I will probably never try competitive Pokemon in the actual games ever again.

To be quite honest, I don't battle competitively because I'm not even close to being good enough. I used to play Pokémon Stadium on the Nintendo 64 against my brother, but the only other instance of attempting competition was showdown, and I just couldn't get into it. I only really play them to try to beat them. No, you didn't read that wrong, I said try. Not only do I lack the attention span, I actually have trouble beating Pokémon games. In fact, I think the only one I beat was Ruby. You might ask "IS IT EVEN POSSIBLE TO BE BAD AT POKEMON?!" Quite possible, apparently.

I have a team that took a couple months to make, they all have 6IV's as far as the judge told me and all have been EV trained. But i'm not that good at battling competitively, I have the weapons but I don't have the knowledge to use them effectively :3

I don't normally battle competitively specifically BECAUSE it's so time consuming trying to get those perfect EV and IVs. I think the only time I do it is on Pokemon Showdown because it pretty much cuts out all the tedium of competitive battling and lets you cut to the chase.

I used to and I used to be pretty good at it, too, if I do say so myself. I'd have all of the IVs and EVs I'd find to be useful for that Pokemon. Also, I would never use bad natures in-game, so I would definitely pay attention to them competitively. My last achievement was when I was 15, where I won 1st place at a local tournament.

However, after that, I gave up. It took way too much unnecessary time and effort (not to mention stress for those EVs ) for me when I should've been putting them towards academics and my school varsity soccer team starting position. So I let go of Pokemon and put all of my extra time onto those things, excelling in them but losing my Pokemon touch. Now, I sometimes just chill in Pokemon Showdown on Random Battles when I'm bored.

If I'm trying to create a good battle set, I still lack knowledge about the importance of IVs and EVs. This is usually my typical battle team:

Salamence
Metagross
Tyranitar
Froslass
Breloom
Jolteon (gotta have an eeveelution)

But, to simply put it, no, I don't battle competitively, just for fun and EXP

Nope, I don't. I don't battle competitively because I rarely play online at all. The only time I am online is when I'm wonder trading because either I don't have the internet to do battles, or I don't have the time to play with an actual person, especially since things could come up at any moment where playing alone I can just stop and pick up again where I left off.

As for IV's and all that stuff, I never pay attention to them, I just play.

Nope. I do not battle competitively on any video game as far as I know. It just doesn't interest me and it's not worth it in my opinion. I like playing games to have fun. Yeah, competitive gaming can be fun too, but I don't like putting a lot of my time building up the "perfect" team.

I don't. I don't even actively train them, I don't even actively try to catch them all. I only get like one or two and then beat the game like that.

I do go on Showdown and play here and there though, so hit me up if you feel like a battle. though I only do randoms, no custom teams.

When I do battle, I end up being as competitive as I possibly can, but I don't actually do it all that often. It takes too much time to get a perfect team together, and if I were to battle competitively, that's exactly what I'd want to be using. Don't get me wrong, I love Pokémon and I love to battle, it's just not something I'm willing to spend that much doing / preparing for.
