Back in the days when I had friends...Then I finished elementary school and got homeschooled...*sigh* what a waste I'm 4 years behind now.
Especially since I really enjoyed school. I really look forward to going back to school. One thing I know is that it'll probably be way harder than when ever. I mean really, 3 years barely learning anything and then still skipping a year. Yeah, it'll be difficult for me Originally I was skipping 2 years but I'd rather take classes. Seriously though, a 16 years old guy *COUGH COUGH* @parents in the second year of middle school (aka grade 10 I think?)...I am definitely far behind. But really, I don't care too much. It'll be hard, but I don't care that I'm so far behind. I definitely look forward to it...

(If everything went right I'd be in Class 5 instead of 2...I am likely the oldest person in the first grade-not-american-grades. I'll probably get bullied for this :3 )
I shall repost in October if this thread is still alive and say what I think of school that time. Truly I enjoyed school, but this is different so...who knows?

Back when I used to be in high school, I HATED it. Most teachers were bad, all of my friends were fake, everyone was immature, so much homework, have to wake up early for this... etc.

Elementary school was even worse, with bullies as well. But now, college is honestly better, except that I hate roommates. And I still have fake friends.

I liked school in 7th and 8th grade when it was pretty fun to be around people. High school sucked so.

No I don't really like school at all. I used to but that's over.

I like school enough. I mean, I really enjoy having human contact with people around my age, and I usually like most, if not all of my teachers. It also gives me something to do, and during the summer I'm usually bored and have nothing to do at all.

In fact I can't wait to get back to school. It beats staying home everyday with nothing to do.

I like learning, however, I hate the one size fits all approach that most schools take when it comes to education. I really like the idea of online classes (which I should really look into for the next semester). I absolutely hated sitting in a classroom for an hour and half just listening to the teacher trudge through useless powerpoint slides (perhaps the most ineffective way to "teach" anyone anything). The only thing I really liked about high school was getting to hang out with friends, whether it was through sharing the same class, lunch, study hall, etc. it was nice to talk to my friends every once in a while, so I suppose the social aspect of it was nice. That's about it as far as what I liked about high school and public education in general goes though.

As for college, however, I am a lot more satisfied with my schedule (Mon, Wed, Fri) because I don't have to show up all 5 days of the week and I don't have to wake up at 5:30 in the morning each day when it is still pitch black outside, which is nice. Altogether, I like the fact that I have more control over the classes I take, when I take them, and my free time in between classes (which I almost always use to get homework done). If I had to rate high school and college on a scale of 1 to 10 in terms of how much I like them, I'd give high school a 3 and college a 7. Although college is a lot better, I still don't like the pace of some of my classes. Math for instance is awful because my math professor throws like 2-3 take home quizzes at us per class while she fills up 3 white boards of information and formulas at breakneck speed...it's just annoying because as soon as information starts to sink in, new information is already being shoved down my throat and I think that is just one of many problems concerning the quality of public education.

I feel like making a more detailed reply to this now that I'm mid way through the semester (totally wasn't going to reply not realizing I already had).

I like learning, most of the subjects I take do interest me and I do find the syllabus interesting maybe because I've managed to get to a point where I'm going to a school where most of my teachers actually know how to teach their subject. They're usually also willing to help (maybe because the school I go to is smaller meaning they're able to spend more time on each subject). Which has always been a problem for me in the past living in a low income neighbourhood where it was kind of like playing the slot machine with what sort of teacher you got. Besides, as much as I long for a break I'm pretty sure I'll grow restless if I don't occupy myself with something else during that time and start missing school. That's typically what happens during the summer break if I don't get some sort of summer job. I like the social interaction too as I have friends I probably wouldn't have if I wasn't in school purely because I'm going to it.

On the other hand it's school, I hate the workload and the stress that comes from the higher grades and that has a tendency of sometimes turning things I would normally find interesting to learn about into a chore. In the past years I've always procrastinated on everything so I thought that was the sole reason I was stressed, now when I've made a bit more of an effort to stay on top of things though I still find myself constantly stressed. I'm always thinking about it and things I could be doing to use my time efficiently which leaves less actual time to do things I enjoy. It doesn't help that I also just started taking French again which is a subject I hate and somehow barely got through last year but that gives a ton of extra credit I need.

On the topic of home school though, do I prefer things the way they are? Yes. I'm able to learn several subjects I'd likely have to skip were I to be home schooled either due to it being seen as not worth the time or just not having the resources to learn it. I'd also be forced to learn trough my parents which I think would've made it difficult to develop a perspective of my own on things and overall just difficult to manage considering my mom never even graduated high school.

Also from what I've heard about home schooling in the US the actual requirments for subjects you need to learn are relatively low, just being the "core" subjects which I personally don't like, hate on me all you want. While I've had bad teachers, I still trust them more than I do online resources since some of the most popular programs or sites can be shockingly inaccurate at times. That's just my two cents though, not trying to trash people who are being home schooled, I'm sure it can be extremely efficient if you have the right preset, I'm just speaking generally here and what fits me personally.

I think the educational system in the US is disgraceful. Schools in the US spend all their cash on junk, field trips, and other things. The teachers are mind-bended, always yapping and killing the child in spiritual and physical ways. They make us do pounds of homework and don't give us a break. We are forced to line up, and stay quiet in almost every section of the freaking school. We aren't allowed to have a good time, take breaks, relax, and spend time with our families. And why is that? It's because of the atrocious school system in the US. Yes, I think we should have an education all the way from primary to high school and go to college, but the US educational system is making people stupid. It isn't the children's fault, it's their fault. The US Educational System is killing creativity, freedom, and most of all, our relationships with people. US Educational System, stop being prison. US people need to follow what the country is about. To be free. The US Educational System making our country less free, with their cursed educational system. And I think that school is terrible and should reverse it's bad actions. Oh, why could I forget standardized testing and testing in general? Tests don't test your knowledge, they make you suffer and pressure you to make home a second school for you. We already have to take a million unfair quizzes and tests each year, and we shouldn't be doing more, like these standarized tests. All standardized tests are are more unfair graded tests where you have to perfectly fill in bubbles. Why does that have to exist? To fit in just enough more stuff in a kid's brain. A kid's brain isn't a room where you keep a bunch of junk in, it's an important part of a human that helps them live life.

And all of this is true. But, even if I don't want to, I am going through every year of high school. I want to get to college, where it will get better, and I can be a little more free. I want to pursue in a good job to make a good living to live a good life. So don't hold back, stand up to school and get a good job! Even though I personally hate school and think it should change, we should all go through school. So, if you are in high school and feel like dropping out, please don't and stay in the race. You can make it, and live a good life after. It may seem hard, but it doesn't last forever, so don't worry.

School can be good or bad depending on what happens with teachers etc so it varies student by student as to whether or not you like school or not.

I think school is ok, i dont like it but i dont hate it also. I got a lotta good friends in school so thats the good thing, the bad thing are chemistry and bullies. I hate chemistry more than i hate bullies, like my current chemistry teacher is also a 'bully'. She's so demanding, if her students didn't answer her 'daily quiz' thingy thing correctly, she'll keep giving her/him questions till she/he can answer it correctly or until the student cries. She's such a jerk
