Well, for me, vizzed helped me overcome my inner pain and depression. Many members like jygin, rday13, plasticinanity, eniitan, lunardarkness, and supernerd took of some of there time to check out on me when I was feeling down. I was very joyful that there was someone who cared about me. Now I can handle my depression a lot better now thanks to them. How about you all?

All the time. Whenever a bad situation comes upon me, I come to Vizzed and the community usually helps me sort it out. In fact, Vizzed helped me cope with my depression last year, and if it weren't for the community, I would have probably killed myself by now. Sorry for making this post take a dark turn. XP

I don't know if being on Vizzed has ever helped me in real life directly but more indirectly.

There are so few members here who are even remotely close to where I'm at in life that it is hard to come here with my problems and get any sort of real advice except from a handful of people.

What I find is more often the case for me is that Vizzed is a place I can go when I don't feel great about something going on in my real life and I can spend time here and at least not have to deal with it for a short time. Let's me unwind and relax for a bit until I have to go be a grown-up again

Yes it does. Almost all the time (unless there's some drama I've involved with, which isn't that often), when I come on here I'm happier . Funny story, I registered on here during a period of time where life was just awful and not that great (no details because ew), and it made me happy. I was taken aback by how welcoming the people where here to me, and one of the first friends that I've ever made has become one of my closest . I fully intend on staying here.

ZeroTails : That sounds a lot similar to how it was for me as well. When I first registered on vizzed, I was in a pretty tight spot in life, and really depressed about many things. I was really surprised at how welcoming everyone was when I first came here. I meet a lot of intelligent and nice members like you. I also intend to stay for as long as I can.

Not really. 

I'm very self reliant, and very sceptical and analytical. Hence why in some of my posts i come across as a bit of an ass. When in reality all i'm trying to do is convey different ways the problem can be looked at it. It's happened on several occasions where people have got upset with me quite badly, only for them to actually talk to me to understand that i was trying to help. Just not in the generic "You'll be okay" post. 

I would say that I like to help other people and ignore my own problems and that is what makes me happy. When other people are happy. 

That probably seems weird coming from me, If you don't know me that well. but meh... That's the joy of a forum... It takes a while to truly understand ones character. 

Either way I'll leave it at that as i'm moving away from the actual question. 

To summarize. 

I used Vizzed to communicate and to try and help other users, Though my posts sometimes get misunderstood. I just believe that me simply adding a generic "you'll be fine" post to the dozen already there, doesn't contribute anything at all.

Don't get me wrong. Giving support is great. But that isn't all that is needed to help an issue out. Just because you face a brick wall and someone believes in you doesn't mean you can run through that brick wall now etc.

Yes. Almost exactly 5 years ago (it will be tomorrow I believe) when i first found the site I started struggling with depression and had attempted suicide but was stopped before I could go through with it. I was being heavily bullied at the time by several people and felt very lonely and hated pretty much having no self esteem. This site helped me feel like I fit in, like I had some place to go where people didn't instantly dislike having me around. Playing games offered an escape from reality and later when I got more into the community side of things like playing on the minecraft server I started feeling like I was making friends. While the site alone didn't cure my depression, it did help with eventually making my outlook on things more positive.

Things got better for me in life. I haven't really struggled with depression in the same way for several years now, I'm still a pretty big introvert though Now Vizzed is part of my daily routine. There are a lot of people on here that I talk to at least semi regularly to regularly so it's where I get a lot of my daily social interaction. It's a nice place to talk with people, goof off and unwind from the social pressure and duties of real life. Without it I'd imagine I would start feeling quite bored and maybe even a bit lonely.

No. I am fairly new though so that could change, but I'm also very reluctant to ask for help when I'm dealing with a problem. Stubborn as a mule in that way.

I think this board has helped me improve... but generally thanks to real life idiots, I'm finding my self esteem so low, and generally feel insecure... I can actually speak my words here, unlike in real life...

I meant to reply to this thread a few days ago, but I just kept forgetting. Vizzed has helped me with real life problems. Over the last few months, which have been probably some of the worst times of my life, I have turned to Vizzed activities, and more importantly users to make my mood better. Some users listen to my problems and give me good advice. I agree with Lunar. I don't think I'd be where I am right now without Vizzed. I never had issues with depression until an event that I don't want to talk about publicly around the beginning of March, or so. I can count on my friends to help me through the bad times in my life, and I hope I help them in some way as well.
