PS+ Lineup For May 2016

If by some off chance you haven't picked up the PS+ games yet, here's a quick rundown of them:

PS3:
Bionic Commando Rearmed 2: This one sounds like the gem of the PS3 lineup this month, though I've yet to see it in action. Any sidescrolling platformer gets my attention, though I have seen that the game got less than amazing reviews, I personally grabbed it and will download it upon getting a PS3.

Click here to see it's Wikipedia page
Yes a wiki link. This one contains a ton of information though, much more than I could give.

LocoRoco Cocoreccho: thank goodness for copy and paste with that name.

This one is quite odd and appears to be a very laid back puzzle game. The goal is basically to get the LocoRoco to follow your butterfly to the exit without letting them be eaten by enemies. Can't say it's an overdone concept anyway.

PS4:
Tropico 5: a game I've personally had in my Amazon "save for later" section for about a year now, I was thrilled to see it hit PS+ this month and picked it up without hesitation.

Wikipedia describes the game as a semi-democratic construction and management simulation video game. Basically you build and run a country, and you can guide it through multiple eras along the way. It smells vaguely (or not so vaguely) of the Civilization series, though I've never played it or seen it in action personally, I have been sold since I first heard of it. This easily wins my pick this month for best PS+ title.

Table Top Racing: World Tour: this is about what it sounds like. You race miniature vehicles around everyday surfaces such as benches and tables in kart racer style matches. Not so sure what this one will be like yet, but I'm downloading it as I write this. We shall see.

Switch Galaxy Ultra: ahh... A game that wants to be good...it really wants to...but it just isn't. It plays like a mobile game, an endless runner (but it does end) to be exact. It actually looks quite enjoyable in videos and plays well enough, but the story scenes are so long and unbearably dull that it kills all interest before you begin. And the gameplay just doesn't hold up for even a single level, and since a level can be as short as just over a minute, that isn't saying much.

In the game you accelerate automatically and simply switch from one track to the next, trying to avoid barriers. It could have been good fun in short bursts for a quick unwind, but somehow it feels like they tried to grow it too much and it ended up a slight mess. Sad thing, really. I'll not be giving up on the developers just yet though as they actually had a good enough idea here. Maybe a little more practice and they can really nail it next time.

PS Vita:
God of War: Ghost of Sparta: I won't discuss this one as I know nothing of it and with the God of War series being as popular as it is, I suspect that anyone who would be interested in the game already knows what this is.

Switch Galaxy Ultra: See PS4 lineup for information.

A Sad Farewell

My apologies for the utter lack of content in this month's VSM, but frankly all that most sources I find want to talk about is Uncharted 4 (which looks absolutely magnificent) and PlayStation Neo, the former not being a VSM topic really, and the latter being something I absolutely refuse to discuss in an article because most of us are probably nearing being literally sick of hearing about it.

But that was more than a signoff header, it was a send off. That's right, as of May 2016 - exactly two years after the first VSM - I am retiring the article as a whole. No more VSM. I'm sorry to do this, and as the few I've consulted with can tell you, I hate to let it end as it's become a part of who I am on Vizzed considering how I've been making the VSM for roughly half of my time as a member of the site, but I simply cannot keep up with it anymore and it's starting to result in a terrible drop in quality for what was once an article brimming with content each month. Unfortunately life has begun taking too much of my time to allow me to continuously track and break down all of the sales and release statistics each month, and that's the main point to the VSM. Rather than drag it out or strip it bare, I feel retiring it gracefully is the best way to go. I've truly enjoyed (most of the time) writing the article that was a go to source for PlayStation news for the few followers I had with the VSM, and I appreciate you guys very much.

I will continue writing articles - and mostly PlayStation based articles at that - every month, so don't worry, Vizzed will still be kept up to date with PlayStation news. And with E3 being just around the corner, PSVR debuting this Autumn, the many huge games slated for 2016, all of the plans Sony has already laid out for PS4, and yes, PS Neo (I think I threw up a little when I typed that), there will be no shortage of PS news articles from your's truly anytime soon.

And so it is that we bid farewell to the VSM, ladies and gentlemen. Again, thank you for reading. As always, Keep on gaming, and keep it Sony.

Sucks to see the VSM going down. It was a great source of information and a staple in the site. It will be greatly missed.

I thought this month would have few releases, but seems I was mistaken. Nice to see that we're not going to have a very slow month before the summer and the E3 bring awesomeness to the world of gaming.

Could I request the next article to be about PS Neo Gran Turismo Sport? It's being unveiled next Thursday in London, UK, and seemingly it has some events going on that would make worth of an article (even if Gran Turismo has fallen really behind as a game since the appearance of Project CARS). If not, I can wait for E3, unless they fool us again and show nothing about Tekken 7 for the second year in a row, ruining all the hype.

But seriously, what is this PS Neo you hate so much? I've never heard of it, sounds like the substitute for VITA and the rival for NX, but I doubt you would hate it that much if it really was what it sounds like to me.

EX Palen : Thanks for saying so. And I agree it's sad that it had to happen, but it's just too time consuming to keep up with now that I have so many other things that I have to balance. It's been a great run, but I can't justify half finished articles any longer (no screenshots, etc) and it really doesn't do the VSM justice.

Yeah there actually were quite a few games this month, and I'm fairly certain I missed a few still. It was good to see that many, and to see some PS Vita support. And I must admit, the TMNT game has me excited. Lol

Yus, PS Neo. What else is there to talk about? Okay, I've actually been hearing some stuff about GT Sport, so I could check it out and see what I find out about it.

PS Neo is also being called PS4.5 and PS4K, though the latter is based on a ridiculous assumption that it'll support 4K gaming (I'll make zanderlex eat his hat if it does ): It won't. Basically it's a rumored upgraded PS4 that will have better specs and output better graphics than the current PS4. Sony has yet to confirm or deny that it's a real thing, so it probably is, but I would just as soon believe it's a hoax personally. In the end though I won't care as long as we can finally quit hearing people talk about it soon. I'm as sick of it as I am of the NX talk and that's saying a lot. Lol

Eirinn : So, the PS Neo is just an upgrade like the Playstation VR but a lot less cool? Honestly, I also think it's a hoax, specially knowing how much time and money they've invested into VR and launching it this year. If it ever happens, it still has a long way to go, so if Sony doesn't hurry up and silence the rumours they will keep going on for a long time.

Let me know about that GT Sport article happening or not. Remember that I should technically make articles as well, but I'm only asking you because you have better sources and a lot more experience in making this kind of posts, so if you don't want to make it I'll be there to cover the void.

PS Vita does have few releases, but hey, it's always better than the single release the PS3 will have in the whole month. I really hope the VITA gets more support in these summer months, having it drop out of the market could potentially make Nintendo focus only on handhelds as their indisputable ruler and forget about putting up a fight with the PS Neo PS4 and XB1.
