The Seven Deadly sins are a notorious group of vices used by Christian officials to evaluate human ethics and confession. The sins have been around since 4 AD, and currently consist of Lust, Pride, Greed, Envy, Sloth, Gluttony, and Wrath. The sins are thought of to deprive one of their grace, charity, liberty, and inherent purity. Lust represents excessive desire and ill intent, and could lead to a desire for mass wealth and power. Gluttony is overindulgence to distasteful waste, and embodies turbulent selfishness. Greed is excessive desire for abundant material possessions, and could be identified through violence, trickery, manipulation, and theft. Sloth is inherent laziness, and leads to omitting key responsibilities. Wrath is unbridled rage, and symbolizes revenge and complete misanthropy.  Envy is also quite undesirable, in a similar sense to Lust and Greed previously. It symbolizes an uncontrollable desire to surpass someone who is perceived as morally superior. It is basically jealousy. Pride is the worst.  It basically leads to one to believe they are inherently superior to everyone else, and disregards others’ feelings. The reason why I’m discussing these is because I felt very envious in my forgotten childhood. I won’t go into much details, but I had a successful older sibling who was “better” than me. It was quite daunting. Do you have similar past experiences? It would be interesting to know.
What is your sin? Please share your pleasant thoughts.

I would have to say my personality probably fits into more than one. But if I had to pick one that stands out more than the others, it would be Sloth. I've always contented myself with doing the bare minimum to get by, even when I know I'm capable of much more. Or I'll put in minimal effort to just be better at something than those around me, instead of really trying to push myself. Overall my life is relatively well balanced, but that would be the one that effects me more than the others.

I am guilty of a few of them.

Lust : Who does not lust after things or people?

Pride: Nothing wrong with being proud.

Greed: Greed is good,it keeps you from being complacent.

Envy: Are we not jealous of someone or something?

Sloth: Who is not lazy?

Gluttony: We all want more than our fair share.

Wrath: Do we not have anger?

Mine are usually Lust,Envy,Gluttony, and especially Wrath.

The idea of sins being "deadly" isn't biblical. I highly suggest to take a look at the explination given on this site:

First, mines would have to be greed. All my life I have always wanted more and more things. I was never satisfied with what I already had. A example of this would be during that time this site was having a special event that involved being active around the like every since day to temporally win a change of color in your username called tdv. Tour de vizzed for short I think. Even though I already managed to win a banner once, greed got the best of me, and I made another account in a attempt to easily win one again. However, it didn't take very long for the globals to find out about. Ultimately, that account got banned, and I lost all of my trust points. I was very thankful that I was not banned myself considering what I did. I hope everyone was able to forgive me for my foolish actions back then.

Second, would be wrath. I remember being extremely angry at various points. I didn't want to bother anyone with my problems that were troubling me, so I kept it all inside of me. And as a result, it eventually turned into this sin. It lend me to do a lot of bad and rather senseless things simply because I was just feeling bitterness. Looking back on all of it now, It probably would've been better to seek out help from those were just trying to lend me a helping hand in my time of need.

Lastly is envy... Not even my own friends are safe from this one. Whenever I thought about what others had that I didn't too much, I would become extremely envious of that person. Even going as far as to hold a personal grudge against them. While at the same time I liked my friends a lot, I didn't think it was right for me to be friends if I actually also resented them, so I kinda distanced myself from 'em. I really need to let go all this resentment towards others or I could end up losing everything in the progress.

As for the other deadly sins, I probably am guilty of them, but compared to the three I listed above, it's pretty minor.

So the "sins" aren't any deadlier than any other atrocity? That's fascinating, thanks for the insight.

While I can't say that I inherently fit into any of these sins just because of the extremes they're represented at, I'm probably closest to envy, as I often want to pass people up, not so much out of admiration as I want to be able to match up with them, so I guess that's my closest one. I came in thinking gluttony, because I eat a good deal of food, but I don't actually waste very much of anything besides my time, so I don't really fit into that particular category. Sloth would work for me to some degree, as I am a lazy person, but I get done what I need to get done, normally, and like to relax, so I don't feel that I'm to far off from most people in that regard.

I don't fit into lust or wrath. While I can be guilty of both at times, it's never to the extent described here and never really more than a passing notion. When I'm angry, I am angry, but I'm generally pretty good at keeping my cool and letting off steam in healthier ways. Greed doesn't fit me at all, I don't like having a lot of stuff because, honestly, I lose it and if I don't use something then I don't see the point in having it, really. I wouldn't say I'm guilty at all of pride, which is probably the source of my envy, to an extent.

Interesting thread and topic in general, really.

P.S: Is it sad that when I hear any of these I think of their respective Full Metal Alchemist characters? Dx

I have to go with lust and gluttony. I'm not an angry person, I'm not by any means lazy, I try to contain my pride and I keep it away from other people, and I don't think I'm especially greedy since I don't cheat others to better my situation.

Gluttony: Yeah. I like food and I drink way too much alcohol. I drink beer, wine, whatever and I'm eating all the food I shouldn't be. Luckily, my metabolism keeps blasting away and I'm extremely physically fit and I am non-stop when it comes to being a dad, being at work, running or exercising, or staying fit. I imagine a majority of the folks here sit around and play video games in their spare time and drink Mountain Dew. I do neither of those things.

Lust : I won't go into this but I really enjoy my wife and our relationship a lot. I mean a lot. And we match each other so it works nicely. That's an important element to our life and it keeps us busy and active and trying to look attractive for each other. I'm guilty of looking at her when she doesn't notice. She's really hot. That's all I have to say about that.

I have certainly exhibited all of these 7 deadly sins at one point, but I feel like gluttony and pride are the ones that least describe me. I'm not  a very big eater at all, and I'm fine with basically any reasonable amount of food, since I'm so skinny. Pride definitely doesn't describe me. I'm not a very confident person at all, which makes it pretty hard to be arrogant. I feel like I exhibit lust sometimes, but it's definitely not one of my most expressed deadly sins. I don't get mad that often, but when I get mad, I explode, so wrath is one of the more moderate ones. I think sloth, greed, and envy can be like a tie for first place. I'm not lazy when it comes to certain things (like doing thinks that I like to do), but if it's something I don't want to do, then I procrastinate it because I'm too lazy to do it. I get jealous of people a decent bit especially when they get things that I don't have or seem to do better at something than me, even though I work harder and put more into it than them. I also show greed, but not really for materialistic purposes. I keep wanting more, whether it be grades, sports results, etc.

More than likely sloth. As with cox I'm always satisfied with doing the bare minimum or not doing anything at all, even if it's required of me sometimes. I'm an extremely lazy person.

If I had to choose another it would probably be gluttony. Love me some food ;p

I'm not pride, I don't think highly of myself but I am happy with who I am and what I can achieve.

I'm not greed, I like to think of myself as a generous person. I buy gifts for people all the time so they can be happy.

I am not particularly envious. Perhaps if I find someone is dating my secret crush I will be a little jealous, but I don't let it get to me.

Gluttony is a tough one. It shares some characteristics as greed. According to Quora, greed is a failure of foresight, while gluttony is a failure of self-control. I try not to give in to gluttony, but I just can't help myself if there's an entire steaming hot cheese pizza in front of me.

Wrath is probably my least prevalent sin. I work hard on controlling my temper and thinking about how others feel. As far as I know, I do a good job of keeping in my anger.

That leaves lust and sloth. I definitely lust for things. A common misconception about lust is that it's always about love or sexual desires. If you search for lust on Google images you will get pictures of lips and sexy women. By definition, lust is a strong desire for anything. My desires are not particularly strong, but I do lust for specific things (e.g. my desire for video games, love).

As for sloth, I feel like it's something almost everyone exhibits. Everyone is lazy at times and sometimes lets it get the better of them. I know how to work hard and I try to get things done, but I am a certified pro at relaxing and doing absolutely nothing. I sit at the computer for half my day because there's nothing to do.

I am guilty of all of them, all of the time. I'm never innocent of any of those. Even when I went to defend a man from getting mugged, I was still lustful, prideful, greedy, etc. Luckily, I'm not alone. I don't believe good people really exist. We are all consumed by selfishness, and we can never escape our moral depravity alone.

If I were to try and work on my worst, I honestly wouldn't know where to start. Maybe sloth. Maybe lust. Maybe wrath. I think those are worse than the others, but maybe it's that I think these are worse I'm actually more aware and better, but my gluttony, envy, pride, and greed are actually worse?
