So, I'm looking for a Trustworthy source for 3DS emulation and Roms. I'm extremely cautious when downloading or running anything on my computer, and since this is the only site I've ever used for emulation, have no idea where else to look that's reliable. Anyone with experience in this area would be of great help. The main games I am looking to play first are Bravely Default (and Bravely Second when it's released) and also the new Fire Emblems.

Thank you in advance for your time.

I looked into it a while ago, and found out that there is no reliable 3DS emulator. Citra is the closest thing to a working 3DS emulator, it seems. All others may be scams.

Mynamescox44 : 3DS emulation is in an early alpha state at best. If you can even play any of those games, you'd better have a lot of patience, since the framerate will be less than 1 per second. Your best bet would be to use a flashcart, although you should be very cautious about where you try to download ROMs from and about how you use the flashcart. At this point, it's honestly such a hassle to do things like this that you might be better off just buying the games. I know it sounds disappointing, but it's also the truth. 3DS emulation might become more viable in the future, but it's incredibly cumbersome and difficult to use as of right now.

Sorry for bumping but I think it needs to be said: Aside from flashcarts, 3ds cfw's are now well developed. Many tools for homebrew or hacking has already been perfected or improved a lot. Your best bet is to buy a 2nd hand 3ds and set up a cfw if you want to save a lot of money. Take good note though, that setting up cfw takes a lot of time and patience and definitely not beginner friendly. If you have someone offering cfw services over there, it might be the better choice. Second, if you can't be bothered with cfw, use flashcarts. The only reliable flashcart around is currently Sky3ds+ (Gateway has always been shady and known to have brick code= a code that bricks your console once you use a rival or a different flashcart) but its simplicity comes with a hefty price. Take note that it can't play roms outside your region nor games exclusive for eshop, so it's pretty limited but very simple to use.

Juliet : Your post basically covers everything quite concisely ^^
About the ROMs, you can't ask for them, but there are a lot of scams out there for 3DS stuff, so be cautious. Perhaps deal with it on PMs, since discussion of ROM sites publicly - even naming them - isn't allowed on a lot of forums.
