This is a RPG.  Yep, this is defiantly an RPG.  I don't have much else to add to this game, nothing really stands out from it.  There game is very rudimentary, like a more basic version of Lunar Legend.  I don't really have much to say about the game, so let's just get started.

Graphics (7):  The game looks pretty good.  The character animation is interesting, the special abilities look interesting, and the main character inexplicably turns into a cat for certain scenes (it happened in the anime as well).  However, the graphics don't look as good as Final Fantasy games.  It's not quite as good, but it still doesn't look terrible.

Sound (8):  To be fair I didn't listen to much of the music, but what I did hear was great.  The music reminds me of classic arcade games, and if all the music is like what I did listen to it's easily the best part of the game.  However as I only listened to a small selection so I can't give it higher ranking.

Addictiveness (6):  The game has a bit of draw to it, but there's really no reason to try and play again.  There's nothing to really gain from a replay.  the game really lacks the draw to it that the other classic RPG's have.  The levels are a bit dull and that takes a bit more away from the game and the battles aren't that interesting.  The game is about the perfect length, not too long that it outstays it's welcome.  But it's also not too short that it feels like it's over too quick.

Story (5):  One word, Generic.  Three girls in Tokyo Tower get teleported to a magical land and the only way home is to beat the main villain.  The then unlock their magical power and become Magic Knights.  This game follows the plot of season on of the anime sharing it's name.  The characters are a little bland, lacking in character interaction or development, but also not falling into any stereotypes either.  This is partially the fault of the game for not having much time given to interaction.  The game does have an interesting plot twist and it would be really interesting, if it had enough build up.  The game is very simple, go here, get this, move on.  It does try and capture the highlights of the anime, and while a lot of the stuff is shuffled around it does get most of the key events in.  Something else that takes away from this game's story is the original anime has the tags of "Adventure", "Fantasy", and "Comedy".  I can give Adventure and Fantasy to this game but it has very little comedy to it.  Although there also is less tragedy compared to the anime, which was able to get some really dramatic scenes, which have not only been ignored, but rewritten so the ending is different.

Depth (4):  This is an RPG with no depth.  Or at least no depth that I've found.  There might be a bonus mission or maybe a side-quest, maybe, though it is doubtful.  There's nothing to really get, there's no equipment to find, it instead gets upgraded at key story points and then gets further upgrades through use much like Final Fantasy 2.  You can spend money to buy items and once for a plot event.  You unlock your abilities by leveling up and reaching certain story points.  The Sailor Moon RPG has more depth than this game.  The game is very short, which matches the lack of depth, if they tried to make it longer it would be very dull.  If they had done something that would have increased the depth of the game like: using points to upgrade your weapons, improving your magic by using it, getting accessories that boost stats or give you special abilities and having more complex enemies.  While very simple things it would allow the game to offer more, which would allow it to last longer and be more interesting.

Difficulty (4):  The game is rather easy, and while I died several times it's not as bad as it sounds.  The enemies are rather easy to fight, and it gets even easier after you get your healing skill.  I primarily used my melee attack only using my magic for special occasions, and did just fine.  You also  have the ability to enter a free healing point, I don't know much about it because I never used it.  After all, something that convenient has to have a catch.  Although if there was a catch I don't know.  Some people complain that the encounter rate is too high though I never really minded it.  I did game over once because I won a fight I had to lose.  That is a problem with this game, lot's of forced lost battles.  I don't usually mind that but this game manages to be annoying.  Like one fight you have to lose but if you win you restart the fight.  This happened to me twice before I just let him kill me to move on.  The game isn't difficult in the slightest, but it does have some annoying parts to it.

Overall (7):  Overall this game is average, nothing makes it stand out from the other RPG's out there.  The story is a watered down version of the original anime, without most of the humor or drama.  The game has almost no depth feeling very linear.  The game really lacks difficulty, being more annoying then challenging.  The graphics are decent though I have seen better.  And from what I can tell the music is awesome.  This game's not really as good as the original anime, but it does allow you to do things like have Ascot or Caldina in your party.  The game is not terrible, or even bad, it's just a little bland.  It is the perfect length for the depth it has, but if it had higher depth it would really have opened up the game.  That said the game is still somewhat interesting and might be worth a play through if you're new to RPG's.

Great review.
As far as the story goes, does this game follow the story of the Rayearth manga/anime?

Vanelan :   I never actually watched/read the original story before playing this game.  After watching the first episode I can say that story seems to be the about the same.  It doesn't seem to be exactly the same, for instance in the game you have to go into a forest and get a magic box in order to get your armor and magic, as opposed to the anime.  Also there's a lot in the anime that's not in the game like the Black Crystal in the Forest of Silence.  I can however say that there is more humor in the first episode of the anime then the entire game as a whole.  There also is more drama in the show, a lot of the dramatic events are taken out like the death of Presea.  You do get to play as Caldina and Ascot in this game so that's a plus.  The events are a little different here, like fighting Ascot in the Water Temple, Caldina in the Wind Temple, and Lafarga in the Fire temple, but that's because there are no events between.  The game seems to follow the anime somewhat loosely, but it seems to be the same original story.

ZanderShadowbane : Okay. Thanks for letting me know. :3
I am a little confused about the overall rating though.
You are saying it's kinda boring and bland, but still say it's interesting.

Vanelan :   It's bland because it does nothing to make it stand out.  It is in no way bad, it has some annoying parts to it but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't at least a little entertained while I played it.  The game does have some interesting features like the armor and weapons that get stronger as you get stronger.  This isn't enough to distinguish it, Final Fantasy 2 did it better but it is something that if it got developed a little more could have really made this game unique.  This game is no Chrono Trigger, or Final Fantasy but it never did anything to make me hate it either.  So overall I consider it an average game.
