I'm curious will there be ds emulation on vizzed? I know some of the games have network or lan something that lets them connect to each other in real life. I think it be great for online multiplayer that dont require as much rom and cpu to run like actual pc games (I know some of those pc games require a high performance computer)

Rashama Izouki :
pharroh :

I have actually toyed around with a couple DS emulators. Unfortunately, they actually take more power to run than anything else on Vizzed except for maybe Dreamcast emulation. I get a pretty bad amount of lag with just Ace Attorney, and things like Pokémon are so bad it's unplayable. Furthermore, I doubt Nintendo would be very happy about it. Even forgoing either previous point, the owner of the site hires someone he knows to do work on the plugin, which is VERY expensive, so my guess is that it will be quite a long time before we ever see DS emulation here on Vizzed. You can find several DS emulators online if you still want to try them, but I can't be anymore descriptive than that due to it being frowned upon to promote external sites.

Rashama Izouki :
pharroh :

Probably not.

Due to various issues such as copyright or bandwidth or the fact it isn't technically retro or perhaps for other reasons that I'm unaware of.

All I know is that it's very very very NOT likely we'll be getting one.

EDIT: my brother freaking ninja'd me I hope he gets indigestion

i would say maybe. if it does ever get added...

while the games are smaller than psx but i think NDS in general may have higher system requirements. once i get the plugins sorted out i can run pretty much any psx game on my laptop with no lag or other problems yet, for the games smaller file size, NDS does tend to lag a bit (or a lot) depending on the game. so even if it does eventually get added it may be useful to set forth a set of minimum system requirements info somewhere. or just test them yourself and see how smoothly they'd run. it's certainly not PS2 but it does take a bit of power to run smoothly.

as for bandwidth, they are larger files but if things like dreamcast and psx are larger and such games can already be handled here then i'd say NDS might not be too bad.

only thing is, i don't know what emulator would be used. i use desmume myself though not all games work with it (one of the golden sun games crashes when you try starting a new game resulting in some horrible audio). perhaps mednafen if it supports NDS? i've seen that one listed on numerous consoles/handhelds around here and it seems to work fine.

The system is "too new" to be on this website. Most games here are over 15 years old and are not (at least, not massively) produced anymore.

People also talked about bandwidth. Tasvideo still hasn't been able to produce a PS 2 video because the emulator is not stable enough yet. Imagine over the Internet...

treos : I hear that NO$GBA is the best, but I honestly couldn't tell the difference between that and DeSmuME because of how bad the lag is with my crap laptop. I do know that NO$GBA worked with Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 days, whereas DeSmuME wouldn't get past the title screen.

m0ssb3rg935 : ah, pretty sure i got that game working with a bit of tinkering (or maybe it was the action replay codes i had been using that last caused it to act up. well, that's the price of cheating i suppose. you never know when such a code will break a game.). if you want i can get it later and see what settings i used to get it working and you can go from there. can't help you with the lag though.

edit: come to think of it... why yes there is anew version of desmume now. only 0.01 newer but eh, still an update. seems i need to update no$gba too while i'm at it, from 2.6a to 2.8.

Alright, well not to be a jerk, but since this has been answered and is technically against the VG forum rules (but it's cool. Was a simple mistake and an honest question. No harm, no foul) I'll go ahead and close it.

For what it's worth, I had good experiences with DeSmume when I tried it a few years ago. No idea if it's still worth a hoot or not since I haven't run an emulator in a long time, but it could be worth looking into. However I personally would suggest sticking with Vizzed instead of running offline emulators for various reasons.
