Hello, this is bananaeater99, who struggles to change his account name to his minecraft ign. Anyway in this post I am gonna talk a whole lot about the differences between the two versions of romancing saga on the super nintendo and the wonderswan color.

Romancing saga, a game series part of the saga series, made from the makers as final fantasy but it majorly differs from the ff series in terms of gameplay. Specifically, the non linear time frame of the game. It supposedly had "maxed the data" in its cartridge capacity in its snes format and thus many planned features never made it to the snes version, but at least it came to the wsc color version. Below are some differences of the two versions quite noticeable.

1. Music - So very obvious is the music track, though due to limits in wsc sounds. Some tracks with
obnoxious sound parts now are much smoother to hear
2. Screen size - Another obvious difference is screen size, since wsc is a handheld.

3. Movement - In the wsc version, characters can run just as fast as the horse in snes can move and
3x When riding the horse when the run button is held, though like the sequel's, running does too
Have a penalty, which is every other moving npc doubles speed as well.

4. Translation - Snes is more widely known, and it only has a english translation. Though strangely,
The wsc version's credits are in english.

5. Sewer Water - For a unknown reason, when playing Rs on the wsc version on mednafen, the sewer's
water flashes rapidly unless a graphic layer is disabled. a potential seizure inducer.

6. Sound effects - They too are different in the wsc color due to limits. Though the sounds for
spears, bows and two handed swords are the same. Swords and axes share the same new sound,
rapiers also get a new sound. Most magics retain their same sounds, but notably the sounds for
light wall, starlight web, dark wall and dark web have new sounds, which sound much more awesome
then their snes counterparts. Light and dark wall when used sound like a evil laugh when used,
which suits dark wall all too well, and the web spells start with a menacing hum, followed by
popping sounds, which make the spell all too cooler. As a side note, phoenix has its sound
slightly changed, just higher pitched.

7. Character design - Most of the characters in wsc have slight changes to their design, either
it is minor color tone changes or a couple extra pixels. Jamil noticeably does not look the same
as his snes version

8. Formation placement - Due to size reduction in wsc, the characters are more tightly compact.

9. Fatestones - We all know in the snes version you cannot get the black diamond, or the diamond, or
The emerald. In the wsc version, Hawke has the black diamond (though idk how he obtains it as pc)
which is a key point to get the diamond and emerald. Diamond found by defeating schiele, and
emerald taken from isle of evil if the second option when talking to the guy at the top is
chosen when all the other 9 fatestones is held, which then shows a scenario of the sleeping npc's
walk out of the area, followed by getting the fatestone as well as forced unequipping of other
equipped fatestones.

10. Elemental resistance - in the wsc version, instead of the elemental immunity blocking the
specific element like in snes, in wsc it makes you immune to the spells of the elemental
type. So you are immune to Blizzard and blood freeze if you hold the topaz in the wsc
version, something not possible in snes.

11. Enemy design - due to size, enemy designs needed a fix. Each giant got reduction in size,
some enemies like scar face (the red whale enemy) have altered coloring which mainly looks,
much better.

12. Background - though the map background is the same, some battle backgrounds got tweaked.
Most notably, the final dungeon has a purple battle background.

Well, those are differences I can point out, if anyone else has some knowing, feel free to post them.
Also, I tried to record video's of me combating schiele and saruin in wsc, but I need help to get
Them on to the wsc rs page. So if anyone can help me convert my mednafen video's to be added to the
vizzed yotube channel, it will be much appreciated. If you want to help me, I will pm you a link to
download my recording files in their non converted format, since idk how to do it.

Hope you enjoyed this post!

It was most informative indeed. So I presume that you would favor the SNES version over the Wonder Swan? Or are the differences really technical and whichever we play will yield the same result?

The snes version is cool with its graphics and its english translation, The wsc version lets you access the missing 3 fatestones and has cool sound effects for light wall, starlight web and their dark counterparts. Both versions are cool, and I am impartial on either side.
