I am 21, 5 foot 7, and was 145 lbs (from about 157 in July - August) last time I weighed myself a few days ago (between breakfast and lunch I believe?). My goal is to lose more weight, preferably down to about 130. This is my MyFitnessPal log for today & is a good indicator of me on a typical day. I don't usually try fancy things because I don't have much time to cook (barely enough to cook chicken and fish) and much money to buy extra stuff (I have to buy almost everything myself, I'm unemployed, with the exception of online working on Amazon Mechanical Turk (doesn't pay as much as a real job would) & in college, and I am the only one in my whole family who is on the Candida Diet, so there's not much understanding from others in my family).

Thoughts?
What substitutions can I make so I can lose more weight, without starving myself?
SHOULD I even really be losing more weight?

I do not eat things like bread, rice, and fruit (I can't even handle raw carrots!) because they all feed yeast (Candida).
I have been on the Candida diet for about 6 months because I have a yeast infection (confirmed by my gynecologist & she recommended this diet to me after she told me about my test results, over the phone).

I know what you may be thinking with 6 months.
I've had symptoms for years and still do SOMETIMES, to this second.
My gynecologist knows that and said that this is going to be a long journey to recovery for me.

More info on Candida Diet: http://www.thecandidadiet.com/anti-candida-diet/

***I just did the math from my MyFitnesPal entries and I eat about 1200-1300 calories a day (counting and subtracting exercise calories).

Uh, I don't think you should be worrying about weight, that seems fine. I'm more than 200, lbs and if I just lose like 10-15 lbs, ill be as fit as I can be. Definitely drop the salad or find one with less sodium, just two of those a day would put you past the amount you're supposed to have.

What are you having to drink? Just water?

There are so many elements that make up weight loss and make up your body's composition.  It has everything to do with what you're eating and what your activity level looks like.  If you went 35 minutes and burned almost 400 calories, I'm guessing you did about 3 miles or so.  That's not bad.

What do you do the rest of your day.  If you're sitting there in front of a computer screen or at a desk all day long, the cardio you do isn't going to be effective.  Try to break up the time but getting up to walk 5 minutes every single hour.  Or get on your feet for ten minutes every hour for some reason or another.  Must moving around is enough to do some good work burning calories.

As for your diet, I've never heard of it and I'm sure it's like all the others.  As long as you're drinking water, not drinking pop or beer, and you're eating raw foods, you're avoiding sugar and processed foods, you should be okay.  Add more vegetables and see how that feels.

It takes a lot of education and discipline to make a lifestyle change.  Keep at it and change one small thing per two weeks.  That should be enough to get you going.

xxeliza321xx : Hey, i'm 145-ish pounds too! And i'm also trying to lose weight! Although i'm not 5'7 :p

Alright, the best way to lose weight is to eat less, and move more.

Here's the thing I found about these sites. They underestimate the calories and overestimate the exercise. They're not 100% wrong, however. What I do is add 10-15% on my calories in, and subtract 10-15% on my calories out. At the very least, it helps lose it better.

Discipline is better than motivation. That's for cardio. You should also try to increase, lets say 5 minutes every week or so into your cardio. That way, you won't reach a weight loss plateau.

But, considering you're having around 1,200-1,300 calories, I find that what you're doing is good.

A lot of people get unmotivated because they don't see results. First off, weight loss comes from little by little. Starts with losing fat around your arms, then face, then finally thighs and stomach. It's a hard journey but worth it. Just keep it at, it sounds really good what you're doing.

zanderlex : Yeah, I was thinking about the salad for just a bit. I never do any dressing any more, just chicken, but I was thinking I can try just a squeeze or two of lemon with NO chicken (fewer calories, less expensive).

Depending on how active you are, you might want to cut on carbs a little. They bring little to your body but temporary energy. If your stomach digests it well, try going for the full-fat versions of your yogurts. It might seem counter intuitive, but eating fat actually helps you burning it. When you eat too many carbs your insulin shoots up and your body stores the sugar in your fat cells. Granted, you are a woman so your body naturally has more fat; nevertheless too much is hazardous.

Well, I wouldn't always be the chicken that adds the sodium and adding any kind of dressing, even healthy ones could add way more sodium so having smaller ones or no salad at all would be the best bet, or maybe a different kind.

I have a question for you.

Why are you trying to lose weight?

You are not stick thin, and that's a good thing. While it is important to avoid obesity and try to strive for general wellness, being 5'7" and 145 pounds isn't horrible at all.

At that size, you'd likely have a BMI somewhere between 18-22 or so, I don't have a calculator in front of me. This probably means as far as your weight goes, you are healthy.

Don't starve yourself. Life is too short to not enjoy food.

I know it's not quite that simple, since it's about being comfortable in your own skin. But I don't think you will find sudden comfort in suffering like that.

I'm not saying give up on a diet or any of that. If that's what you want to do, do it, just don't stress too much about losing weight. Enjoy food, and enjoy life.

I'm 5'5 and about 200 myself and 1 thing I did that cut about 15 pounds in a couple of weeks while walking to different places was to cut out soda. But at 5'7 and 145 that's pretty good. I wouldn't worry too much about Ur weight it seems like you are doing great where Ur at and its not healthy to starve Ur self
