A couple of years ago I was blessed with appendicitis. I was pretty sure it was just another really bad stomach pain (something I often deal with) until it got really bad and started puking.

Sometimes I'm stupid.

I got to the hospital in time and the surgery and recovery was uneventful. I suppose I was lucky my stupidity didn't make it worse.

I've had two surgeries. One was when I was just a few days old. I had a hernia, which was repaired.
The other one was a few weeks later. It was something to do with my neck and a cyst or something. My Mom's never really told me all the details.

When I was 15-16 I had to go under three times because of cancer. The first two I had to go through chemo because they were malignant. The 3rd time wad a non cancerous tumor in my right sinus cavity. Also fought leukemia between the second and 3rd operation.

I've been in remission for nine years now. November of this year(2016) will be my tenth.

I've had 5 surgeries. One to remove my spleen, one to remove a cyst on my neck, one to remove a cyst on my forehead, one to remove a cyst on my right cheek, and the (currently) last one to remove the cyst on my forehead again. Tricky thing about cysts: they'll grow back if you leave any left. That was like 3 1/2 years ago, and my health's gotten much better, knock on wood. All in all, 0/10 would not recommend. At least the ladies like some facial scaring. Got a pretty big scar right on my forehead

The only "surgery" that I have had was to have my teeth pulled back when I was in 6th grade so that I could get braces. That experience wasn't that bad, and wasn't as painful as I thought it was going to be, and wasn't as bad as people had tried to say it was going to be.

Other than that, I've never needed surgery, so I've never had it.

However, my wisdom teeth may or may not come in, so I may or may not have to get those removed. Hopefully they don't move in, or if they do, come in moderately straight.

When I was a baby, I needed surgery done on my right foot because I had a clubbed foot. The only thing that I can remember that by is the scar surrounding my right foot. (and the occasional pain I have when I've been on my feet all day).

Yes I have, my toenails managed to curve while growing which caused them to grow into my skin and soon it became infected. Though it got better after the surgery and now it looks like it never happened.

Reading everyone's experiences makes me feel glad that I haven't went through a single surgery. And I'd like it to stay that way o: Doesn't sound pleasant.

18mlivingston :
Ah, and ingrown toe nail. Such a common thing. It's happened to me plenty of times, but I've never really needed a surgery for something that minor haha

As a toddler I had a cyst grow in between my nose and one eye that got to be almost the size of a golf ball before it was removed. I was told it was so big it kept me from opening my eye. We still have pictures of it as well. When I was a kid, I had 8 cavities at one time that had to be fixed, but they were all baby teeth so it was a temporary issue (and a good learning experience lol). And most recently when I was 15 I had to have all 4 wisdom teeth removed, but other than headaches from not being able to eat, it was completely painless. And they had prescribed me plenty of Vicodin so even that wasn't an issue, although I didn't start taking them til like 3 or 4 days after the surgery.
My parents made me do the wisdom teeth surgery 3 days before Thanksgiving, so I couldn't eat anything that year and had to watch the entire family pig out in front of me. Talk about cruel

Mine wasn't really a surgery, they put me out for a few hours so they can set my broken bone back together. I still remember, it happen like in 1989  I was about 6-7 years old and family had a party. People were playing volleyball and I was running around pushing people cause I wanted to catch the ball and I ran into my older brother, (who has trouble walking ) and we both fell into a brick wall and he ended up landing and breaking my right shin bone. Very painful and I ended up at the hospital for a week.
