Hey VizzedGuy111 here, and I'm here to talk about something that could be added to Vizzed. Not that it could be beneficial or anything, but something that could be fun for people, and that thing is achievements. Ever since the Xbox, video game achievements have been popularized and forced people to do curtain tasks in games to get one. Can be a walk in a park, or hard experience for any achievements. So let's talk about Vizzed. Achievements could be quite good here and here's why. Let's talk about Viz or maybe CP points. So you know you get cool (or maybe not cool) things from doing curtain tasks right? They are technically achievements, but how about a much more proper achievement systems that people would familiarize more. Xbox achievements are quite a hit, so why not Vizzed then. You can earn substantial amount of Viz or CP whenever doing a achievement. It can be worth it in your eyes when you get an achievement. So that's my idea.
So what is your thoughts on this idea to Vizzed? Good, bad, or at least somewhat important, you decide how you feel about this idea.

VizzedGuy111 : I totally like this idea, but I feel it'd be difficult to implement.  Kind of like how achievements can glitch on a system, and you can't get the achievement or have to completely restart your game to get them.  I'd love to see it in the future, though.

While it would be nice to have that added, we have some way around them.

In Your Forum, there's a thread to brag about your post count and CP amounts. In a sense, it helps you keep track of how you and other users are faring, but indeed, it only affects people that actually post there.

If you care about your standings, you can always have a look through the Memberlist. There, you can filter results according to several parameters, so you can know your place regarding the rest of the site.

I don't see David adding something like this in the near future. Right now, all your actions do have a place in eternity, first on the memberlist and second on all the competitions we hold. If there's something you have achieved, you can always add it to your profile bio.

I do believe this is something that David wants to implement in the near future. I know he has tons of features planned but doesn't have the time to work on all of them.

Still, this will happen at some point. David has mentioned wanting to make an achievement feature at some point.

Its a good idea really. I did kinda sense David might do this in the near future when the features for it are ready. And I can't wait for that to happen when it does that's another new step of adding something big onto vizzed. This site is slowly changing for the better and it has to happen.

If he does implement the system, should there also be points relating to the system and it could be automatically added to anyone's profile once you've earn it, like Xbox when you've earn achievements, you get points. Or like Steam, you can list your favorite achievement? I mean there could be quite a lot of possibilities to the achievement system, but like supernerd117 said, it could be difficult to implement in the system PLUS the features I've told you guys.

It's nice to hear he might add these later. I see it as a really large job and would require a good number of people to add in on it.  I personally think that we should have achievements for the "Vizzed de tour" that sticks around via points (based off of what I've read. I've never attended one). I think Viz would be good reward but I think CP should be reserved for social achievements (ex. "make 5 friends" = 500 Viz and 1.5 CP; "Get Top score in [Insert Game Here]" = 2000 Viz and 0.0 CP). There could also be special achievements that can only be handed out by staff (I got an example in my head but don't want to put it out there).

As I wait, I've been adding my "achievements" to an excel sheet with little doodles of my own (its what drives me to be the best I can be with little goals).

I dunno if this would really be a good idea.



Ultimately it's up to David, but I think it would cause spam and exploiting to get the achievements, much like people do on consoles.

In theory it sounds great, but what would the achievements be for?  Would they be for, like, "You made five posts in an hour!"?  Or, "You beat X# of SNES games!"?  Or, "You beat Ms. Pacman in XX seconds!"?  Or, "You have played one game for each available system!"?

JP1run : I would LOVE to see a mix of all of those things. Although it's just a cosmetic thing to add, it gives people another reason to be an active member in the community. If it doesn't take up a bunch of time, I would love to see this and I would definitely take part in earning achievements.

JP1run : except you couldn't actually implement most of those achievements automatically. It would have to be much simpler things like owning a certain number of games on a console or owning a game on all Nintendo consoles. It couldn't involve beating games or speed running or anything like that (unless we did those manually which I can't see ever happening).

Vanelan : I'm with you. I see this becoming an issue with people doing things simply to get achievements and not actually wanting to contribute. It would greatly depend on what the achievements are before I would be excited to see this introduced as a feature.

Would it become something like the Tour de Vizzed Hall of Fame? If so one can just look at the "all members" page and rank everyone according to the metrics there (CP, post experience).

I might be up for it depending on how it is done.

I think the way things are now are fine, you know what would be cool? Maybe having a database of how many times you acquired a certain post syndrome? That would kind of work the same way and would be cool to mess around with.

A lot of the time, people post a lot or do CP actions just to get a jersey instead of contributing during non-TdV months. ^^;

I like the idea. It makes the whole site feel closer to a video game. Another great way to earn Viz, CP, and increase activity. Hardest achievements could be streaming a certain amount of hours, maybe even hours in Minecraft server- could be a good way to get everyone involved in all of those areas more.

Achievements really do sound like a great idea for a site like this. The only major obstacle would be time, which David has a serious lack of. If they could be implemented, though, they would be a great incentive to get involved in the community and use all of the many, many features that Vizzed offers.

We've talked about this sort of thing before. Not really sure how it would work, or how we would avoid people trying to cheat the system (as was mentioned above)

It would be a neat feature though, if done right.
