Right here.

I'm not exactly the best at it, and my best placing/record so far in a regional was when I went 5-2 on my way to a top 128 finish, one match away from making it out of my pool. I'm a Kirby player just trying to push my character as actually viable, and have actually been complimented for being close in talent to the likes of MikeKirby or Poyo (which I think is a HUUUUGE overstatement, but okay...), the two most well known Kirby mains in Smash 4.

I also used to compete in Melee and Project M before finally fully switching off to Smash 4.

I know about both of those guys. I'm an admin of a competitive Smash page and a friend of mine from there almost beat Poyo, and this girl I know is actually online dating Mike Kirby (strange, but whatever works). I'm a Fox main myself, started playing in Texas but I've moved back to my hometown in Alabama, so our only known top level player is TheReflexWonder. However, I'm hoping to break that mold a bit. I'm actually in Dallas noway and the last Shockwave I went to I placed 13th. The one today I'm hoping to do better at. Good to see a fellow competitive Smash player! Reading the other threads (Palutena as OP, what?) discouraged me.

I don't yet...But I'd really like to! I'd say I'm pretty good. But I usually either just barely lose, or get completely destroyed in For Glory. But I keep hearing that FG isn't really like competitive Smash at all. But I'd say I'd at least be...Decent in a tournament? Hard to say, I've never been! Just don't expect me to go toe to toe, er, footsies with ZeRo or M2K anytime soon.

I wonder what the character limit on this thing is.

I would say I play decently competitive, I mean I play a very technical game and can rek on for glory any time I choose, I mostly train on Anther's ladder (great site btw) and by myself in the training room.

As I've stated I play peach so It's excusable how much time I spend in there

I only really struggle when you put me in matchups I haven't played before... and that's like all of them.

If I was in a more dedicated area I'm sure I would be a good player, it takes about a year before you start not playing like complete trash and develop a good understanding of how people will react to your actions and reactions and the ability to decipher it and take full advantage of their habits.

I would put myself on a scale of 1/10 with 1 being scrub, and 10 being M2K/Nairo, I would give myself a 4 or 5, probably a 6 if I had a lot more mu experience.

I have a pretty legendary Sheik, but I do not enjoy playing this game. I don't like the stagelist in competitive Smash 4, I don't like the stock count ruleset in competitive Smash 4, but the biggest thing is the reason why we can't have 4 stock tournaments like in Melee. The reason is that SSB4 is so freakin' slow. Knockback is too low, weight is too high, and there aren't enough combos. It's definitely better than Brawl, but I still can't stand how long each match takes and how little comparative hype it generates watching.

However, I am a huge fan of competitive Melee and Project M.

pray75 : Oh, is that so?

And you're lucky to want to be able to be pretty known in your state.

Meanwhile, I'm a part of south Florida (although I'm currently in north Florida for college), and although I'm pretty decent for a Kirby player, I fall short of even mid-tier due to the high depth we have down here. I mean, I'm known rather well for being a Kirby player to begin with, but as far as actual results? Eh.

I want to play competitively. I want to so bad. But when you live in the middle of nowhere, it's hard to use anything but For Glory as practice. And For Glory really isn't much for practice.
I'm not entirely sure how well I'd do at a tourney, probably depend on size. With any luck maybe I could get past the first round? Beyond that I'm doubtful, especially when I still have trouble with more common matchups like Sonic.

Gamin'Gal : Sonic is actually becoming less of a common matchup, in comparison to many of the more viable characters in Smash 4.

Also, mid-tier players in competition actually have a wide spread of characters that they'll play as. I, myself, once again, play as Kirby, and that's only one of the many characters played within mid-tiers (even though seeing a good Kirby player in general is, well, not expected). Palutena and Little Mac are other rather popular choices, as well as Toon Link and Game & Watch.

I play this game on For Glory all the time. I may not have the money to go to tournaments, but I try to get better and better. I main Shulk, but I may get into using Corrin or Bayonetta soon. I used to play For Glory on Smash 3ds all the time, but I sold it in order to get Fire Emblem Fates. I'd say I fight very well against the likes of Mario, Villager, Cloud, and Zero Suit Samus. I still need to work on my game against Rosalina and Sheik, and Bayonetta is starting to be a problem to handle, so I am going to practice working against her.

tyranit : I'm going to stop you right there and say that For Glory is not a very good measure of your skill for a good number of reasons (player base and inconsistent connections, to name the most severe of the reasons).

There are plenty of alternatives if you really want to get better at the game; I've not really gone on For Glory unless I'm severely bored one day and have, quite literally, nothing else to do.

Since you talking about not being able to go to tournaments tells me you don't really have a valid means of transportation, I'll just name some alternatives you can take advantage of sitting right in front of your computer!

  1. Search up a website called Anther's Ladder. It's a neat site that allows you to meet with other players who want to fight online. You add them as friends and you can play matches in sets, much like tournament matches go. It's a great site, and the player base at large is very friendly, which is a huge plus.
  2. Go to Twitch and try to find some streamers who are doing viewer matches. This is very inconsistent, and usually results in a lot of waiting, but does have some merit.
  3. If all else fails, Tournament Mode is better than For Glory if you can actually enter a bracket now that will even have enough people to start it up. Unfortunately, it's got very little activity now, but it does have a more quality player base than For Glory.

I'd say that I'd be willing to fight you to help you improve, but I don't have my Wii U up in college for now, and you said you sold Smash 3DS, so I can't really help directly. Sorry.
