So a girl i know and respect and have known her for years and trust her and she feels the same about me wants me to help her with some studies for her Creative Writing college course,but also my good friend from Canada who i have not seen for 6 years is back in town and just like some silly comedy movie,he is here the same day i am supposed to spend my day helping my other friend study,so what to do,see my canadian friend or help my longtime female friend who i actually find attractive and always wondered if it would get to be more than just friends,decisions decisions,what would you do?

Any chance you have time to do both? Like help your friend during the day or early evening and then hang out with your buddy later at night?

How long is your buddy in town and how quickly does this girl need help? Do they absolutely have to overlap?

Anyway, I think there should be a way to hang out with both if you can manage it. If not then I would totally help the girl . A guy you haven't seen in 6 years versus the girl you actually are around more than once every 6 years doesn't seem like a big decision to me

If you CAN see both then I think you should but if there is no way to manage that then I would go for the girl since she is more likely to be a bigger part of your life.

I'm not going to tell you what to do but I will provide some ideas and options.

Geeogree has it down.  If you can split time and share with both of them, do that.  But there's a hierarchy with who gets your attention.

If your friend from Canada made you aware he's showing up at least a week ago or longer, you need to make him a priority.  He won't be around long and he's off and running to his own country.  I assume this girl is close enough that you can say, "Hey, my long time friend is here and I want to spend time with him."  If that upsets her, maybe she's not as nice as you thought.  She should be cool with it and say, "Okay, let's hit another date."

If your Canadian friend just kinda popped up, he has to know he's playing second fiddle to the time you established with the girl.  I'm not saying pick a girl over a guy, I'm saying the person who had the time scheduled first wins.  If it were a guy you were studying chemistry with, you keep that date over your friend wandering in.

But you'll make a good decision either way.
