I mean, it was such a random unfollow! I've only spoken to her briefly once in the hall at school, just saying our hi's and what's up's. We met at a club in school. Now we have class together & talk about positive things college students our age would usually talk about (school, hobbies, what we want to do after we graduate, that kinda stuff).

Then I posted this photo on Instagram & Facebook that had three frownie emoji's at the top of it and said "No matter how real your pictures are, no matter how real your quotes are, there are some people who won't hit the like button just because its you"

I found it somewhere else online & thought it was cute and relateable (& so did a number of my other friends).

I mean, she USED TO follow me back until today. I don't have too many followers, so I noticed my follower count go down & noticed she was missing!

Do you guys honestly think she took the post personally or something? Should I apologize to be honest?

I didn't mean for her to take it personally - I just posted it for fun because there are people who follow me who haven't liked my stuff in a while, including people who are closer to me than she is. I was the only person she unfollowed!

Matters to me because now she and I have a class together & I THOUGHT I was getting closer to her as a friend!

She is STILL my Facebook friend but I'm wondering if I offended her because even though she USED to follow me on Instagram, she was in the group of people who NEVER liked any of my posts!

You are not responsible for other people's feelings or reactions to what you say (or post). If you had no ill intentions when you posted that picture (which you do not look like you had), then YOU have nothing to apologize about.

That being said, if you can try to get closer and talk to her. Or contact her any other way to inquire about her reaction.

I'm going to be honest, this is silly, people unfollow all the time for random reasons, and it usually has nothing to do with the person.

Following someone on places like twitter and instagram doesn't even mean that they like you in the first place, people ONLY follow people because they give them content that they want to see, so if someone isn't giving great content or not enough content, they wont follow them.

I unfollowed my best friend on instagram for the sole reason that were only posting once a week and that's dumb. Heck, I unfriended more than 200 people on facebook, but were still regular friends, I only unfriended them because I don't gain anything by seeing what they post.

zanderlex : I am exactly the same for Facebook and Twitter. I unfollow people whose content I do not want (like union propaganda) to see and unfriend those with whom I do not have a relationship (of any kind) in real life with a VERY few exceptions. But one has to be careful now; unfollowing someone can now be considered harassment (or bullying?)

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Sometimes people just decide to unfriend people on social media for one reason or another. I doubt it is anything you did directly.

It seems that you guys don't really know each other that well. Maybe that's why she decided to unfriend you.

I do that from time to time myself if I notice that I have people friended on Social Media sites that I almost never talk to or have much in common with. I mean what's the point of friending them on social media if you aren't really that close of friends to begin with?

She still has me on Facebook but not Instagram

You need to stop worrying so much about what other people are doing. Maybe she stopped following you because of that specific post or maybe it was the culmination of 20 others and it didn't matter if it was that post or a later one but she was going to stop following you no matter what. In the end it doesn't really matter. Don't cater what you do to the whims of a handful of people on the internet who may or may not matter.

Be who YOU are and don't stress if everyone likes that. The people who do like you for who you are will be your friend and everyone else can go suck an egg

And this is why Social Media is a peice of you know what because people acts like idiots on Social Media.

It's at this point that Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, or whatever is controlling their lives. I don't let it control mine. How I put at it, if she doesn't talk you in real life, that is telling that she really unfollowed you, not behind a computer or phone screen. Social Media sucks.
