I think apple's "Only can only us your operating system on our computers" policy is stupid but that might just be me. So I thought "Why not ask the vizzed community." So here you go! Be sure to vote on the poll and If you want you can post your reason why!

Well, it plainly might not work if you tried to use something like the apple OS on a windows computer because its not built the same so so it either wouldn't work or some features wouldn't work. Apple designs their computers specifically so their os can work with them. That's like trying to put a ford battery into another car because even though its a good battery, the thing that you are trying to pit it into wont accept it because it was never built to accept it

Yes, you can hack and run it on a PC, but obviously it's illegal, so...yeah I wouldn't recommend that to anyone. lol

But I agree that it's dumb. It could be a matter of ensuring a quality experience with anything bearing their name, but I suspect it's about money. I mean it's just like their requirement to build iOS apps on a Mac (this may have changed, but it used to be this way at least). Why? I could easily make an iOS compatible app using Windows. Why? Because it ensures the sale of another $1,500 computer to every one of the many many people wanting to develop for your products. I think Apple has proven that they just want to suck every penny they can out of people, and this Mac only for OS x is likely the same thing. All businesses are about making money, but you can do that in a way that seems less...jerk-y.

I say it's a great idea only because when people get Windows PCs, they moan how it has bad performance/etc. (see: idiots trying to upgrade PCs from 2003 to Vista years ago), with Macs it would be more consistent correct?

When you buy a Mac you know its software will work with yours because there's only a few models, it's a hit or miss with Windows, particularly on emulation and games.
I am typing this from a Mac, though, but I'm no fanboy.

I'm fairly sure that Macs use Intel processors these days. I might be wrong, but a big deal was made about it years ago that they changed from the Power PC architecture.

So in theory, Mac OS should work with x86/64 processors.

Chart : It might be. Its hard to say.
5-10 years ago, I would think so since there wasn't much hardware that was mac certified or whatever they called it (basically had drivers ).
These days, a lot more hardware is supported and Macs are much easier to upgrade (So I hear) and have more/better driver support.

I guess you have to install MacOS on your PC and tell us how it works.
