What the---? How'd I get here? I knew I shoulda taken that left turn at Albuquerque!
Yes, I love the old cartoons, especially Merrie Melodies and Looney Tunes! I used to watch Bugs Bunny cartoons in particular in bed while drifting on too sleep. It's very pleasant the way all the animation is set to the music, and it adds a lot to the comedic timing of both series. It's too bad you don't really see to much of that these days (Or rather I don't). YAY to old cartoons!

TheTrueUlti : having watched a lot of the old cartoons when I was younger such as bugs bunny, huckleberry hound and the flintstones I find that they are some of the best that I have watched in fact whenever I want to watch any cartoons I go to u tube just to look for some of the oldies since they no longer make them or show them much anymore on t.v.

I forgot to mention this one, but Looney Tunes is also still enjoyable even after all these years, and my 6 year old brother also enjoys it, to my surprise, even the ones in black & white, which I was never expecting from him.

Lexatom : Ah, that's nice. I have a 7-year old niece who watches a lot of those old cartoons. It's funny to see little ones' reactions over the simple shows. Haha.

TheTrueUlti :

It sure is! Most of the time I just see him on his tablet and on Youtube, which I didn't have when I was his age. The tablet part I mean, but still, I didn't know Youtube even existed until I was 7.

While I can appreciate what the older cartoons bring as value to the entertainment table, I can't like them all that much. The ones that stick with over the top violence for their laughter get old real quick. Okay, the coyote got blown up, run over, he fell, his tricks exploded in his face, the parachute didn't work, ACME is a terrible company, I get it. I get it. It gets old after the first 10 minutes. The music is brilliant and light-hearted and often very clever and telling a story without dialogue is always challenging to do but after a while... meh.

The same goes for Tom & Jerry and others.

The older cartoons with dialogue, like the Flintstones and Jetsons, are so bathed in casual racism, sexism, and familial violence, I can't stand them either. Haha, a wife is supposed to keep the house clean and gets into an argument with her husband if she doesn't do it. Or fathers and dads are inept and can't get anything right and the wife or mother swoops in and saves the day at the last second. That's played out too.

I like the new stuff. Archer, Rick and Morty, those cartoons that are social commentaries will never lose their edge. Old cartoons are good for nostalgia but after five minutes, I'm flipping the channel or finding something else.

A definite yes since these are pretty much the cartoons that pretty much all should at least fit some sort of standard and is also a good escape from the horrid decay of those abominations...  Anyways, the saving grace for going back to those oldies would be through Boomerang which is god for escape and the right location on the internet to watch your favorites.

When I was a child, I would watch tom & jerry all the time to where I owned compilation DVD's of them.

And I would watch boomerang a lot when I was 11-14 because those cartoons fascinated me.

Nowadays, I would still consider tom & jerry to be the best oldie cartoon because of how hilarious it is.

Retro cartoons from the 20s to 40s are my favorite. My absolute favorite has to be Felix the Cat. The silent animations, not the terrible 50s version. He was way better in the 30s and 40s.

Tom & Jerry is also great, which is also the 40s. Proof why the 40s were the best animations.

Popeye the Sailor and Betty Boop are cool too.

Heck yeah! not only did I watch a lot of them with my dad growing up! He watched a lot of them too as a kid, so that's probably why!
I also find that anything wartime when it comes to animation is neat, especially if it mentions the wars as I am a total nerd when it comes to that kind of stuff!

As for anything later it really depends on what it is. I really like road runner and the like, and often times find myself looking back on those cartoons as inspiration for some of the art that I do!
as well, Ever since my art teacher pointed out how good watching the road runner cartoons can helo with learning to draw perspective I have found it useful for when I don't know how to do something. I watch ten or fifteen minutes of it, have a good laugh, and then go back to see if they had examples of the technique I was trying to use
