How's it going brothers and sisters in gaming? Its me again, and I was wanting to ask for a bit of help from all if that's okay.

You see, I've been on Vizzed for quite some time now, and I've been doing some good ole reviews on some classic games, heck if you check my review list you can see how I have changed and evolved my style. But the thing is...I don't know if I'm doing real well on them. No one has checked on them and rated them, and it makes me feel as a gamer and a potential reviewer that I'm failing at my job.

So if everyone can, please go to my page and check some reviews that I have done, it would mean a lot to me. And if you can, please do me a solid and give me some advise on my reviews!

Thanks, and remember, keep you sword sharp, for the revolution is coming. Later!

After looking at your recent reviews I'll say that I found them a little confusing. Not that I don't understand what you're talking about but I got quite lost in the massive amount of text. A solution would be to use formatting tags (bold, underlined text, etc.) and to change the text size for subtitles.

I did enjoy the content of the reviews a lot, I just got a bit lost in the structure.

Keep in mind that I am in no way an expert when it comes to reviews so this might just be me.

Hey, I was looking through some of your reviews, and this might just be me, because some might say that I am a harsh critic of reviewers, but I think you need to start considering to move away from the structure of game components. Your reviews are starting to look generic and it is not making your reviews stand out. There seems to be moments where it isn't necessary for you to write about certain categories. Like if there is a game that has no story, just don't talk about story. Some aspects of a game are not necessary to make a good game. Be organized and reasonable with your support on the review, but bring out your style of writing and have fun with it.

As play said, you shouldn't try to make up something out of nothing. If a game doesn't deliver anything in one aspect of the game, then don't mention it because it will more than likely create confusion. There are plenty of games out there that don't have an intense story/plot or a measurable amount of depth, and aren't considered bad for something they never had in the first place.

You should also try to be concise with the approach you take to your review. If you are praising a game, then make sure that you are clearly explaining why each aspect contributes to the overall greatness of the game. You can compare the game you are reviewing to another  (perhaps of the same game if it is a sequel or remake) to show growth and provide a clear comparison. For a uniform review, you should avoid yo-yoing back and forth in your stance on the game because it will also more than likely confuse the reader on how you feel about the game as a whole. It can also lead you to contradict yourself inadvertently.

For general organization, you should avoid having massive blocks of text, try to break it down into categories and go from there discussing them. By doing this, your reviews will appear much more professional, not to mention much easier to read. Altogether, you should present your review in a way that is uniquely yours and get creative with it. I hope this helps, I would definitely check out play4fun's thread for any further tips on reviewing. There's plenty of useful stuff in there.

I am no expert on writing reviews, but I try to follow the category system. Overall, graphics, sound, etc.

I write at least a paragraph on the subject and try to explain why I gave it that score. If the idea is good, but the execution is flawed, say so. We gamers like an honest review. Now reviewing older games is tricky, you do have to put your rose-colored glasses on and try to be a tad forgiving.

Do not be afraid of trying to be a little personal in the review. Say why you love or hate it,share a memory of the game that you had. But,by the same token,do not,as Beavis and Butt-Head would say,"polish a turd". Be honest, but fair. No game will ever be perfect. As long as you try to be honest and fair,we will be gentle with you. But woe to you if you lie about a game.

play4fun is right; most of your reviews do not really stand out of The crowd. You have good structure, but you barely elaborate as to why you like / do not like that particular component, An advice I usually give: do not be afraid to make comparisons with other games, be they of The same genre or from other consoles so people who did play these others games might get interested (or not) in The one you are reviewing
