While doing research for the arcade version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 I couldn't find a whole lot on it that might help me in writing this review. What I could find on it was that is was basically a prototype of Sonic 2 that came out for the Genesis that was featured on the short lived Nick show called Nick Arcade. It was featured in 2 different episodes that had aired. All I know is after playing the Arcade version I can say that it is more or less the same version we got on the Genesis. There's not really any differences I could see at all. Except for the fact the Arcade version obviously took quarters. Other then that it's the same game. So on to the real reason I'm writing this review. And see if it is worth your time or if you should play the console version instead of the arcade one.

Difficulty 9: With it being a direct port of the Genesis it shares the exact same difficulty. Nothing has changed there at all. The game is just as hard or easy just like the console version.

Depth 9: The depth of the game is the act same. Same number of levels and bad guys. Same amount of time it takes to get through the game. Nothing as changed there from the console version at all.

Story 4: The story is the same as in all Sonic games. Robotnik (Eggman) cause trouble and captures the games forest animals and its up to Sonic to stop his evil plans and save the animals. Nothing new or different so a 4 it is.

Addictiveness 10: Like with all other Sonic games it is very hard to put this one down and stop playing. Whenever I had died it just made me want to try harder to get past that point from which I died at.

Sound 10: Sound is just as good as it is from any console Sonic game released at the time. The music is very memorable and I found myself humming the tunes long after I got done playing it.

Graphics 10: Just like the console version the arcade version doe not skimp out in the graphics department. It is very appealing to look at for long periods of time.

Overall 10: Overall with it being a prototype it still gets a 10. It is the exact same version as we've played on the Genesis. Not much has changed at all. Solid 10.

Final Thoughts: As I have said its more or less the same as the console version. Not much has changed at all. The levels are the same the sound is the same. I definitely recommend this or the console version. Both are entertaining to play and well worth your time and effort.

Hun, you can actually play games you like? Inconceivable!!

Anyway, that was an OK review. I do not know if you did a review of the original Sonic 2 game, but if not you should have made one here. Since everything is basically the same, it would have been proper.
