Do the stats start over now for october or no?

TristanTehGamer1 : Yeah, they start over this month. However, after three months we'll not only tally up the third month's points, but also see who won the most months worth of each category and add it all together.

So basically we'll have a quarterly "Most Bronze" "Most Silver" etc. just like we have for weekly and monthly totals. But yes, this week everyone starts over at 0.

This week
Eirinn : wins most bronze by a landslide, but the rest of the competition is dominated by
MattyIce : who nabbed the only platinum, and squeaked by with Most Silver and Most Gold by date acquired in both cases. And finally
TristanTehGamer1 : Steps up, ranking in two of the four categories, and barely missing first place in Most Gold.

Don't worry everyone. I am about to really slow down here, at least until Black Ops 3 comes out. The only game that I currently have that I haven't got the platinum for is Madden 16. I've completed every other game I have so far, except for Assassin's Creed: Unity as I started playing the DLC Dead Kings. Lately, I've been playing the hell out of Warframe. I've gotten all the trophies for it already, but that game is just so fun to play for some reason.

I mean, I'm seriously not even trying to participate here. Its kinda funny actually

I'm going to be moving, so I doubt I'll be playing much in the way of games.

Whatever I do play will be the "Tales of" series of games, and anybody who has played those knows that trophies are more grindy in those games.

Don't expect me to place at all this month, or even next.

Maybe later, I'll do an unofficial overall leaders post like I did a bit back.

I'm definitely earning a spot in this competition this week. I don't know if it will be a big one or not, but I'll surely exploit to any known limit some of my games to neat me as many trophies as I can.

For all who are interested, do you guys still want to stick with points being awarded by trophy rank, or by overall rarity? I remember this was a discussion topic a few weeks back. If we go by rarity, the "Most" categories will all be worth equal points, and I will introduce a new scale next week. Please reply with your opinions.

If we do it by overall rarity, we could end up giving more points for certain Bronze trophies than Gold ones. Plus, how rare a trophy is is also determined by the amount of people that own and play that game. I don't see fair giving more points for a trophy that nobody got, even if it's absolutely simple, rather than giving more points to the more difficult to earn by yourself, which are generally Gold.

Just my two cents, but I think the way we are currently doing this is the fair way.

EX Palen : Since you were the only one to reply last week: I could be mistaken (and maybe you know more about psnprofiles and can correct me on this), but I think trophy rarity is determined by dividing how many people own the game by how many people have earned the trophy. If so then if two people own a game and only one gets a certain trophy, that trophy's rarity is 50%. Whereas if 500,000 people own it and only 50,000 get a certain trophy, that trophy's rarity is 10%. If that's so, then popularity doesn't affect the game's trophies rarities so much, and rarity is more of a matter of difficulty or perseverance.

The idea being that some games have bronze trophies that are harder to get than most games golds. Batman: Arkham Knight for example gives almost exclusively Bronze even for very difficult challenges that would normally be much higher ranking. Also some games award a gold --or even a silver-- for 100% completion rather than a platinum, despite difficulty and rarity. I actually have several games like that on my Vita which is why I haven't platinumed in a few months. :/

However, I'm not opposed to keeping the current system at all.

I checked my trophies, and one of the rarest I have is simply participating in a determined number of battles, while other, much more difficult trophies have a higher percentage of achievers. By changing the system, I simply have to focus in the rarest to earn trophies instead of the really difficult ones which technically should be the gold ones to get a lot of points. Not fair.

Even if a trophy is rarer to earn, we should keep the current system. Take note that the rarity of a trophy may change if a lot of people end up earning it, so that would change the value of each trophy depending on the time you achieve it, but with the current system each trophy has the same value over time. 

On a side note, nice to see my streak was that successful. I don't know if I'll be able to earn more trophies in my PS3, as all the remaining trophies need hours of playthrough and time isn't on my side. 

EX Palen : And that is a good point on rarity changing over time. It would mean that an early adopter of a big game would get fewer points for the same trophies that someone who picked the game up a few weeks later would (more players = less trophies per player = higher rarity = more points). That's one of my biggest concerns. Another concern is that it would add another step to point tracking which already takes an hour or two. I do wish something could be done about my platinumfree games, but meh I'll just have to work harder on Silver and Gold (though two of my games don't even have gold trophies. -__- Seriously?).

Yeah, your few days of participation bringing in that many trophies makes me fear your abilities when you get to enter full time. xD
