Hello to all the wonderful game lovers here! My name is UhuraRaine. I have been registered on this site for almost two months now, but have not introduced myself properly yet. So here I am! Let me share a little about myself. I am 36 years young and loving it, from Indiana, and have been an avid gamer since gaming started to become popular. I remember playing Wheel of Fortune on the Commodore, I loved Asteroids, Pole Position, and made Galaga roll over the high score many times on Atari. I have been hooked ever since, and have owned many different systems throughout the years such as NES, SNES, N64, PSX, PS2, and PS3. I regret not still having my older systems (the oldest one I still own is the N64). I am an avid rpg player. I am a huge fan of the Final Fantasy series, and have several of the games, but not the complete collection regrettably. I have many other games in the rpg genre in my personal collection, but not having all of the older systems means that all the games that I used to love to play growing up have seemed lost to time....until I found this site!!! I am not usually one to chat in the forums, but I may upon occasion. I am all about the gaming and spend most of my time on here doing just that. I have been slightly curious about the netplay feature, but have been hesitant to consider it. I think I would have to play the games beforehand to know all that I need to give a good netplay viewing...just my thought on that. So there it is.. A slightly longer hello than I was expecting, but once I started my fingers had a mind of their own lol... Anyway HELLO to all you out there!! And thank you for having such a wonderful site to be able to revisit the awesome games that brought about what gaming is today!! OH!!! One small tidbit about myself that I left out! My user name--UhuraRaine---well the Uhura is actually my middle name, not just a rip of the old Star Trek...and I have always thought that it was awesome lol! Let me share a little about myself. Wow, an excellent introduction, Uhura. I feel like we actually know a little about you now which is great.
I myself started gaming at around age three (I was actually cute then), and my first game was on the Atari VCS/2600/Whatever you want to call it. Sadly I can't remember what game I played first, but I can say that the first games I remember playing were on the NES, and were Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda, Gauntlet would soon follow. So since you said you were an avid RPG player, may I ask if you only play turn based RPGs, or if you play all kinds? I myself love a good Action RPG as well as Simulation RPGs (like Harvest Moon). Indeed, I feel like Action RPGs are probably my biggest weakness, though sadly I've yet to find any true action RPGs with the deep inventory and Skill Tree systems that I love so much on a console or handheld even, and I don't have much tolerance for PC gaming. As for your game system trends, it seems you followed the same exact pattern as I, favoring Nintendo until the PSX (so good to hear someone get it right, instead of calling it PS1 lol), and then favoring PlayStation. I personally have owned: NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, PSX, PS2, and PS4. I also owned a Gameboy and Gameboy Pocket Color, but now all I have is a PS2, GameCube (only recently got this as a gift) and a PS4, as I sold the others sadly. :/ Also you mentioned the old games that you thought were lost to time prior to finding Vizzed: what games were you looking for when you found us? I (as you might guess) was looking for Harvest Moon. lol Anyway, thanks so much for saying hello to us, and I hope you do show up around the forums now and again. Also my apologies for asking so many questions. Have fun, and let us know if you need any help or have any questions. Eirinn : Thank you and I am glad to hear that. I was starting to think I was rambling on. I wanted to answer your questions the best I can. I play all kinds of RPGs, although I do admit that turn based seem to be among my favorites. I found Harvest Moon on here while looking through for the games I was searching for, and enjoy it very much! As far as a more action oriented game I truly love the Champions of Norath series. I have found myself picking it back up and playing it many times, and went to search out the predecessor Balder's Gate as a result of my enjoyment of Champions and the sequel Return to Arms. I also enjoy playing the Dragon Age series, as well as Assassins Creed and Skyrim. I came here in search of the first Final Fantasy games, which are very hard to find, and when I have seen them (usually online), a small fortune is required to get them. Once I found this site, I looked up other games that I remembered loving such as the Dragon Warrior series, and Zeldas. I am currently having a Chrono Trigger flashback and have been playing it non stop for a bit now....my poor crops are feeling neglected as a result lol. Welcome to the boards!! It's not easy to break the ice and say hello to a community you just joined. Some can take even years to say hello, so you made a very big step forward with this thread. You should really give a try to netplay. Of course, that feature is more focused towards multiplayer games than RPG, but you can still play games in cooperation mode. Not all systems support netplay, curiously the ones you mentioned (NES, SNES, N64 and PSX) all can be used for netplay, plus a few more here and there. Even if you're not one to chat in the forums, you can end up being a big poster. I wasn't a friend of posting at the beginning, barely scoring 50 posts in my first full year around here, and look at me now. I recommend you look at all forums, who knows where will you find an interesting thread to post in. Happy gaming, and remember, staff are here to help should you ever need it. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed Harvest Moon. It'll always have a special place in my heart as I found the first one as a kid (ten or eleven I believe), and you know how childhood classics always hang on and tug at your nostalgia feelers.
I don't know which Harvest Moon you tried, but I suggest Back to Nature for the PSX, or Friends of Mineral Town for the GBA (or More Friends of Mineral Town if you wish to play as a girl). Of those games that you listed, I have only played one: Assassin's Creed. I played about an hour of one of them, and it was certainly enjoyable. Skyrim is one I've heard endless praise for, but have never been able to try. Does it offer an in depth inventory system and all of that fun stuff that makes Hardcore Action RPGs so great? If so I'll have to try it sometime. As for RPGs in general, have you tried Dragonstomper on the Atari 2600? Yes, it's an RPG on the 2600, and it's really quite impressive what they managed to accomplish on the system. The only problem is learning what each item does, as some classic RPG items weren't classic back then, so many of the terms are used differently. For example if memory serves "Potion" increases your attack rather than refilling your health. At any rate it's a great little game. Not sure if they ever fixed the copy of it on here, but it's worth a look. Zelda I have a love hate relationship with. I love love LOVE certain aspects of the series and they always pull me in, but I hate how they aren't making any more like Twilight Princess and keep missing the series potential I feel (here's to hoping the next one will really make use of Open World abilities and blow us all away). Still, the games are good as is, and I can't help but enjoy my time with them. I'd also suggest looking up Lufia: Ruins of Lore. I'm not too big on most turn based RPGs, but that one even managed to pull me in. Loved it. And if you enjoy blending RPG with Strategy games, Zoids Legacy is another good one. Chrono Trigger is one I have never played but know I should. lol Hopefully you're loving it every bit as much this time around as you did last time...and water those crops before they wilt! lol I don't know which Harvest Moon you tried, but I suggest Back to Nature for the PSX, or Friends of Mineral Town for the GBA (or More Friends of Mineral Town if you wish to play as a girl). Hello and welcome to vizzed! So, What's your favorite Final Fantasy game? Mine would have to be Final Fantasy VII. Another question, what's your favorite N64 game. Would it be the amazing Ocarina of Time or an excellent platformer like Super Mario 64? (I personally say OOT) Anyways, I hope you'll enjoy all the games this site has to offer. |

That is quite a gaming background. Welcome to Vizzed! I hope that you will enjoy your stay here. I don't really get into RPG games, but I do enjoy Chrono Trigger. If the forum is not really your thing, you can also stop by the chat room and chat with some people who stop by as well. If you have any questions about the site or the features, let us know! gamerforlifeforever2 : Hello and thank you! You have posed a question that has truly made me think. I really have a difficult time saying which would be my all time favorite. Each one has a special place for me. I would at best say that it's a toss up between FFVII and FF Tactics. I love them all, but those two are pretty well tied when it comes to how many times I have went back to play through them again throughout the years. I was extremely excited here a year or so ago when I had finally came across a copy of Tactics at a local gaming store, and they only wanted $20 for it! I had the game for PSX years before, but it had been stolen as well as the first system I had, which oddly enough has happened with every first edition Playstation console that I have had. All the ones I now own are the newer editions of each system. As far as my favorite N64 game it would definitely be the Ocarina of Time. It is a wonderful game on all levels in my opinion. Sadly I do not have a copy personally anymore, but plan on revisiting it on here soon. Hello and thank you! You have posed a question that has truly made me think. Eirinn : Hello again and I will make sure those crops get watered lol! The first Harvest Moon I checked out was the SNES version, and have looked into some of the other ones as well. I will be sure to check out the ones you have suggested. Skyrim is a truly awesome game that any RPG lover should have the joy of playing. There are many ways to build your character, and so may quests and side quests that you can easily spend several hundred hours just doing the quests that aren't even the main story line quests. And the leveling is amazing as well as you have to think about how to level your character and what you are going to learn to progress your character how you want them. To get some of the best weapons and equipment in the game you have to spend quite a bit of time finding materials and forging to build up your blacksmithing capabilities to be able to access the higher levels which they do not sell at any store that I have found. I recommend it for sure! But beware it is highly addictive once you start lol! And I agree totally with you about the Zelda situation...One can only hope, and enjoy the games that are out now.. I have not played either Dragonstomper or Lufia, but will be sure to look them up here and check them out as I find time away from the countless others I have already found and said "OOOHHH I have to play that lol". And I do enjoy the blending of strategy and rpg and will also check out Zoids. You should definitely check out Chrono Trigger, and if you enjoy it (and I think you will) I would also suggest it's sequel Chrono Cross. Hello again and I will make sure those crops get watered lol! I want to say thank you to everyone that responded and commented to my hello! It feels good to have others interested and ask questions, and make someone feel welcome in a community like this! I have tried to personally reply to any and all questions that have been asked, and will be happy to answer any more as they come along. I am now glad that I decided to make the effort to say hello to everyone, and hope that I will be around here for quite a long time, which I can pretty well guess that I will be with so many wonderful games to go and revisit, and countless others to check out for the first time. I will also check out some of the forums as I have time and am not obsessing with a game lol! That is the hard part there, as I usually am finding myself being pulled into each of the games that I have found and started to play here. I have scanned through the main list of forums, and have had a few catch my eye and made me think that I may be interested in checking them out, so who can tell as of yet as to whether I will be posting on some of them. So for now I want to wish everyone Happy Gaming! I will also check out some of the forums as I have time and am not obsessing with a game lol! The way you described Skyrim it certainly sounds like a game I would love. I'll check it out when I get a chance for sure. Thanks!
I'll look into Chrono Trigger sometime as well. Again, thank you. And hopefully you enjoy one of the games I suggested as well. They are all amazing in their own way.
