You're all going to wonder what happened with him, here's the full story.

Earlier today, JigSaw, myself, Geeogree and Crawldragon started debating back and forth in this thread that JigSaw made:
Is Jesus Christ an alien?

It basically was us 3 defending Christianity / Jesus from JigSaw's theory. The discussion seemed mature but than it started to get a little heated up between JigSaw and Crawldragon and Geeogree suggested that I close the thread and even though there was no real flaming, I closed it to prevent any problems. I didn't say why I closed it to avoid JigSaw being mad at me for closing it.

Maybe a half hour later I noticed that he was no longer on MSN so either he had blocked me or logged off. I also noticed that JigSaw deleted everything in his profile and sent all his Viz to Rasen. This led me to assume that he was really mad and to protect the board, I took away his FTP and MySQL access just to make sure he didn't do anything he might later regret doing (such as going into database and with a few clicks, delete all his posts). I also sent him this apology PM:

"Sorry I closed the thread but I just didn't want to start a war and I felt bad that it was 3 against 1 so I closed the thread before things got worst. we all stayed away from saying anything harmful and I respect that you believe what you do but you were initially attacking my belief so I was just defending myself.

Sorry it turned the way it did.

He did read it but never responded.

About 6 hours later he banned himself and posted this into his profile:

Now I'm assuming when he said "I have been terminated from trust" that he was talking about me taking away his FTP and MySQL access. Now here's the thing about that, I didn't tell him I took those away so what kinda concerns me is that he in fact was headed to the database because that is the only way he would have known and why else would he be going there right after all this happened while he was still angry? I hate to think the worst but it's best to prepare for it and I think I made the right choice of taking his FTP and Database rights away for the time being until things cool down.

Maybe a week from now he'll be over all this and will be back. Please note that I did not ban him and will unban him upon request and he is definitely welcomed back.

I'm sorry this all happened, I definitely didn't want to see JigSaw leave, he's like a brother to me. I'm not angry at him, just want to make that clear, I just hope his anger cools down so that he can come back and we can move on as if this never happened.

that pretty much sums it up. I watched online users after the thread was closed and let David know what Jigsaw had started doing because it looked like what someone would do when they were preparing to leave a board. He was clearing out his profile.... no more items, info, or anything. At this point David decided to take away the ftp and mysql access because it was obvious something was going on with Jigsaw and we couldn't get him to respond.

My suggestion to close the thread came after Jigsaw called Crawldragon's replies "smart ass" and figured at that point the conversation had 1 direction that it was likely to go. For reasons David and I can't figure out or understand the closing of that thread he made set him off. If he would have stuck around and talked I'm sure this could have been resolved quickly, but Jigsaw just up and left.

I agree that if/when he comes back that he's totally welcome. He did nothing wrong and isn't being punished. I still personally don't see why he left, but maybe we'll get an explanation when he comes back as to why this whole situation caused the reaction it did.

I personally hope he returns. I don't always agree with Jigsaw but he's a good guy and has done lots to help develop Vizzed into the board it is today.

This may not be my place to post but I think that it is stupid of jigsaw to completely leave the board that he has done so much work on as has David and others. Over a argument that was about religion and knowledge or at least what jigsaw calls knowledge which these kinds of arguments have killed friendships, relationships, etc for years. I also think that David had the right to close the thread on his board before it snowballed into something worse. also jigsaw has the right to do what he did but I think he blew it out of proportion. I am personally a firm believer in the bible, but I think that jigsaw had a few good points in that whole argument.


David if you feel my opinion was not needed in this thread then you can delete my post.

you're part of this board just like everyone else. If David didn't want your opinion this would be in the staff forum and not here.

And it doesn't really matter who had good arguments in that thread. The fact was it was a few posts away from becoming a flame fest. And maybe it wouldn't have if everyone was able to stay mature about the situation but in most cases a thread like that goes out of control pretty quickly.

Either way what happened has happened and hopefully Jigsaw can come back and feel welcome here. I don't think anyone here hates him or wanted him to leave.

There's enough drama for a staff member to ban himself?

I hope that Jigsaw will come back soon. It would be sad to lose a member of this board. It was a little childish for him to ban himself but I hope he gets over it soon.

I feel sorry for Jigsaw to leave like that. After all that he did, he's gone (hopefully not forever). It's like losing a member of your family.

All we can do is wait until he comes back. I just hope it's soon.

Aw s***. I just signed in. I noticed that the bot named Vizzed sent me a message. I saw that he had sent me a gigantic amount of Viz. I thought it was maybe a surprise gift? Then, I saw he was banned. Now, I've read the entire thread.

All I can say is: damn. Seriously, he's one of tbe best members of the board, not to mention an amazing developer. Hopefully he will return, but there is no sure way to know.

Are you sure you need all that Viz, Rasen?

But anyway, like I said, Jigsaw leaving is like, letting the Vizzed fire die.

Have you tried talking to Jigsaw in person about this, or talked to him on the phone, David?

i wish i would have seen that thread before it closed.. i have a couple points i would like to raise on both sides of the argument, but i guess i have to hold my tongue now, it would be kind of pointless lol.

also, whats going to happen to GYR? isnt JS the co-owner of the site? do you think he might try to do something over there to hurt it in his anger?

Man, the whole board feels kind of 'empty' without him. I hope he comes back soon, pretty much everybody misses him (I'd be surprised if anyone didn't miss him, then again, everybody should/does miss him, I'm sure).

I feel like I'm personally responsible for JigSaw losing his temper. I didn't try to rile him up or anything, but he did call me a smartass. So if he ever sees this, I want him to know I apologize. Or one of the people who knows him can pass this on.

1sam: Well vizzed isn't going to die from this, I'm still the lead developer and still am and always have been the owner, it'll just be tougher now though because I'll have to be on more to make up for it. I've never met him in person and he doesn't like talking on the phone so I doubt I'd call him.


Chronobis: Yes JigSaw is the co-owner of GYR but he hasn't really done anything on the site for a very long time and so it really wont be a huge loss for GYR. He'll continue to receive money from the ads though, his ads will of course stay up and he still has FTP access to GYR. So in other words, he'll remain the co-owner of GYR. In fact, I may let him become the full owner of GYR and so he can have all the ad money, I've got vizzed but he doesn't really have a big successful site, plus he could use the extra ad money.


Crawldragon: Don't feel bad, you were only defending your own faith, we all got a little carried away in that thread.

I think that this was sad, I hope he comes back, I think he over reacted or something, or maybe it all started with something in his personal life.

another thing to point out... this board has had half a dozen other people do development to some degree or another on it in the last 5 years (maybe more, but I can name 4 off the top of my head) so losing one isn't the end. Someone else will step up and help develop new features in the future. It's just a matter of time.

That is assuming Jigsaw doesn't come back. We still don't know what's going to happen with him.

Even if he does come back, I think he needs a break from development. I don't want it to seem like we only want him back to add more features, I could care less, it's just great having him around, the features are just icing on the cake. If needed, I can take care of all the features from here on out (and he probably needs a break from things anyway), especially if I can make a little extra money off ads for myself than I can afford to spare the free time to add features.

fair enough... that was basically my point.... whether or not he comes back to make features for the board someone will step up to continue with development.

I want him back regardless of what he chooses to do.

Wow, I really hope he comes back.
Although he has made a massive amount of features for this board. He is also one of the most helpful people I've met on here as well.
He will be missed if he doesn't come back.

Just like everyone here has already stated, I don't give a flying frick whether or not he makes features anymore. The features are cool, but I'd rather have him as a poster than a developer any day of the week. He's just an awesome guy.

He brings something to the board that you can't get anywhere else, a completely unique personality which contributes to the overall vizzed board family. I wouldn't expect him to make any more features, I honestly think it'd be selfish for me to even ask him to do it again since it's my board and my responsibility, plus we're at the point where we really don't need to many more features. Again, I just want him back for how he contributed to the board and for his assistance as an admin when I wasn't around (like being able to take care of stuff that only admins can take care of). I've got so much trust in him and it shows since he was the only admin.

That post was kinda random , but thanks for telling me (I was talking about vizzed) .

His post was totally relevant, he was saying why MVash wouldn't come back as an admin.

Hm. So that's what happened. I thought Jigsaw changed his name color for fun, as some high-ranking staff members have done in the past on other Acmlm boards . I didn't see the debate thread you guys were in, and I'll take a look in it sometime, but is a debate really worth banning yourself for? It doesn't seem like something that would set someone off unless they're normally pissed all the time. I don't see him as that kind of person. So, I'm wondering if there is a personal problem going on that put him in a bad mood in first place, and whatever you guys talked about put him over the edge a little.

I've been pissed off here before, but never that bad. I think the most I did was quit staff and leave for a year or so... but there was also a lot more than just one debate thread disagreement behind that.

I'm really not surprised by Jigsaw banning himself, I mean this is the same guy who banned me when I criticized his idea.

I don't think it was the debate itself that he banned himself over. I think it was the fact that his thread was closed without any explanation.

But that thread (in my opinion) was 1 or 2 posts away from going downhill. Sure, if everyone in the thread stayed mature about it then it could have been fine, but more often than not when only a few people post in a thread like that it starts to get personal (which it did start to with the smartass comment)
