Earlier today I was actually shocked to see that Jason Statham was confirmed in a main role in the next Fast and Furious movie, for multiple reasons. First off, I don't see him topping what he did in Furious 7, he was arguably one of the coolest villains you have seen in a while and had an outstanding performance, and I just don't think that theres any way to top that, especially some of the stunts that he pulled off. What is there even left for him to do to try to get revenge that would be even better?

Secondly, him being in the movie would mean that he needs to escape from possibly the greatest guarded prison in the world, and in order for it to be part of the real main series, it can't actually happen to late.

What do you think? Do you think they put in too much into 7 to the point that future movies might not be able to match up with it? Can Statham have a better performance, either with action or just storyline? How do you think he will escape?

If you watch all the fast and furious films in one go like i did recently 7 doesn't stand out at all.. Also you'll realise that not many of the villain's stay around for longer than one film as well...

If i was to guess I'd say that it wouldn't surprise me if statham played a role of a bad guy that realises he is being played and reverts to the good side (well kinda, they steal cars and stuff after all x3 and break every road safety rule ever)...

Fast and the furious has always had insane stunts and some have been pretty insane... but i wouldn't say they are done at all.. I mean most of the stunts are done with CGI after all x3...

i don't think the next movie will have any problems  matching up to 7 at all..

As for him escaping... it could be a number of film things... key in cake, government recruits them, gets bailed out, breaks his way out with his knowledge and stealth.. Or simply he ends up working/blackmailed by someone corrupt.. Like the government again etc...

They can go a number of routes... i think the thing you have to keep in mind is that whilst the movies do make a story.. It's not a very well formed one.. Meaning there's plenty of room for plot development.. It's not based off a book either so honestly, the story lines available are pretty numerous indeed... hope this helped...

sonicmcmuffin : Even though all the stunts are cgi, I really find it hard to believe that they can top driving cars out of a plane or jump between buildings hundreds of feet up. Though if they can do that, they will probably have the greatest looking movie ever.
