Since there are too many of them, following the Republican race for the primaries is kind of tedious. However since Donald "We Shall Overcomb" Trump entered the race, it seems like there is never a boring day.

He attacks Mexicans - they come to rape our women, I will build a fence and have Mexico pay for it -, veterans - McCain is not a real war hero, his supporters are nuts -, etc.

That had some people claim he is merely a troll. I gave it some thought, but I think he is dead serious in his inflammatory remarks. After all, especially when it comes to immigration, his views DO represent what some people think - to what extent I can not say, but I hope it is a VERY small fringe of the population.

So, Donald Trump: troll or dead serious?

I have to figure that he's serious about his bid for president, or at least using it as a way to keep himself in the news. Either way, he has to at least understand the attention he's getting.

He's always been kind of full of himself, so it's hard to get a good read on him. I've always thought of him as being not the most well spoken individual. I've never listened to him speak and came away thinking that he was very intelligent, but that's just my own personal opinion.

Why exactly is Ronald Donald doing this? It might as well be Bill O Reilly or something, and if anything he should make racist comments and diss our veterans AFTER getting elected. Do you think Trump card will be shocked upon losing? I mean, this is coming from a guy who doesn't know the difference between the Dominican and Communist parties.

Oh Trump is serious about this bid, all right. Even a guy that.....clueless wouldn't blow this much on a potential bid for nothing.

After a polarized Democrat tenure I have little reason to doubt the Republicans will win. However, they certainly won't nominate a borderline (if not fully) racist candidate if they're trying to secure a multi-ethnic vote as they've been attempting recently.

Boxia : Of course he will not win. Not so much about his racism but just about his character. I hate neo-cons like John McCain or Ted Cruz, but at least they look more... authentic. Trump almost looks like a walking parody.

Mecha Leo : I was discussing the subject with my father recently. He believes he could run as an independent, sucking out strategic vote enough to be a nuisance for the Republicans like Ross Pero was in 1992. I personally doubt it - Pero was advocating against NAFTA, whereas Trump merely advocates for himself - but one never knows.

I don't think Trump's comments about border security were racist. Merely honest. He might not be the most eloquent at expressing his thoughts at times. But you can't have people with unknown backgrounds free to enter and leave the country at will. Not when you're trying to have gun laws for one thing. Or control a heroin epidemic. Or control disease transmission. Vaccination south of the border isn't what it is in the states. I just don't understand why it's racist to want an actual border. It isn't. That doesn't mean that the vast majority of people trying to enter aren't good. I've worked with plenty of Mexicans in my life and I always told them the same thing - if I were them, I'd do the exact same thing so how could I blame them for coming here? That doesn't mean it's good policy though. Especially when you have San Fran ignoring the law. But as far as McCain goes, what he said I'm sure didn't come out right and if you listen to the whole sound bite it's not really that bad. Besides, look up McCain's record. It isn't spotless. There's a reason why he's not pressing Trump on it I think. Just my thoughts. I can't vote for any man(or woman) with a clear conscience either way.

i do agree that Donald Trump may have over step his CEO rank over a veteran but he's trying to fix that so maybe it might go away (na it wont).

As far as Donald Trump is concerned, I believe this whole Presidential run is a big publicity stunt. He's just trying to get media attention with this whole run. That's all he cares about: attention. He's not going to win the election and he's not even going to be the Republican candidate. He's already ruined any chance of that happening with his John McCain comments. He should just drop out of the race, but he won't because he wants media attention, even if it's bad attention.

Well I didn't know much about Donald Trump other than his name before earlier this year but when I looked him up I remember mostly being like "wow is he an actual real person?" And I'd have to agree with your comment of him being like a walking parody lol.

With that said I am inclined to think he is serious. Like you said he actually has some people supporting him so I think that in itself proves it's very much possible, though it is one thing I wouldn't mind being wrong about. It's times like this I prefer living in Sweden over the US

Unless you think the human race is ready for a one world government. Why is the United States the only country in the world that isn't allowed to have a border? Why is the US-Canada border what it is? I don't know, why are North and South Korea separated? Why does Iran have a border? Nearly 4 percent of the population of the United States are here illegally. No other respectable country is even at one. I'm really not sure where you're going here.  Politics these days is about who can stir up the most emotion anyways. That's why it's such a joke. janus : no you fail to understand why it happen, the government made the banned on drugs because they believed it was unhealthy. the government thought it had the manpower for it but didn't, most drug deals were not for money it was for the stress relieving and they don't care about the money.

again you did not check the history in the 19th century, the usa first did not allow everyone to join and that was a sign that should had first seen. also people have problems in many countries just like in the usa with problems of keeping up with demand of usa resource.

Even with what Trump said about the Mexicans and McCain, I still think he will make for a really outstanding president because he's got a lot of interesting ideas and I view him winning the whole thing over everyone else in the election.

Sure, a lot of the other republicans wants to run down Trump because he's showing that the Republican Party is a bad party by disliking Mexicans, Gays, Women, etc, but the Republicans basically live and breath that, so I don't think that they should of bashed on Trump saying the things that he said that the Republican Party has been for years.

I'm not sure, this time in 2007, I was thinking the same thing with Obama, but Obama has turned this entire country upside down, and I'm not sure on if I even trust anyone anymore, until I seen Trump and he speak his mind, and hope him speaking his mind lands him the presidential seat.

Trump is serious and a troll. He's a distraction. His comments give attention to the Republican party. Then they'll deny him the victory at the primary, and the negative backlash will go away. All that will be left is lots of attention on the Republican party. He's doing a great job. Bomb oil fields? Screw the rapist Mexicans? That's some good s***.

Trump I have analysed a Dozen times and I still can't quite put my finger on it. I have to agree with Zlinq on one thing- He seems like an actual person.

He connects to hug amounts of people because of his ability to talk of good game, and because of his ability to insult, take insults and then trash them right back! Trump is a good player in some ways. He may not understand the Politicians side of politics, but he does understand the business side and how politicians interact with businessmen. He's cut a lot of deals in the back for information just so that his enemies can't touch him like they should. In the end, I don't know what Trumps true objectives are, but I think he's doing this for fun. . . . and because he thinks he can help.

I don't necessarily agree with everything he's saying though. And I don't think he always knows what he's talking about. But he's got a lot more common sense than most politicians. And that's the thing.

He can talk- like a real person. And people are fed up with politicians. He's someone that they can rally behind in rebellion to the government that they hate.
