So I bought this bag of Jolly Ranchers a while back at a CVS because I love them and so I would not have to make as many trips to expensive candy stores (such as Dylan's Candy Bar) to get them and get other candy with them. They are sitting in the back of my closet in my room so I wouldn't go crazy with them and only eat them sometimes.

But just today I went to the doctor and found out that I have a yeast infection, so I must diet.

Giving this bag of candy to someone else isn't an option right now because my parents would kill me for candy in the house (I bought them myself and I usually have a bag with me) and I'm an independent contractor for Amazon Mechanical Turk (work online for not much $), so I don't usually have time to see friends.

I don't want to throw them out unless you guys say to do so because there is still like half a bag of them and it'd feel like a waste of food and money to me

I'm also afraid of throwing them out and even tossing them in a bin at Goodwill for someone else to eat because I've heard that going into diets cold-turkey is a set up for failure.

So, opinions?
What would you do with this bag of candy if you were me?
Should I just finish it and then start dieting?

I would say just keep them. I don't think they go bad. So just put them to the side until you can have them again.

You could hide them around your house in random places so that way if you were really desprate then you could go and try to find them.

Since it is candy you can not have it go to waste (unless it is infested in some way). Although you say you do not meet many people, I say keep them in a safe place so you can offer them to guests or friends when they come/ when you go to their place.

Thanks. And yes, a single Jolly can do bad for me because even just that amount of sugar can encourage more yeast growth, which is the LAST thing I want right now!

Save them, one day they'll become super rare! Maybe... Probably not.

Seriously though I would say eat them, I mean it's only half a bag so I doubt it would make too much of a difference. If you're really scared of it making it harder for you to diet or encouraging more yeast growth then you may want to consider throwing them out still, or like you said yourself tossing them in a goodwill bin since it doesn't seem like there's much else to do with it, and at least then you could take your mind off it

You should save them until your able to have them again. I mean it's what I would do.. there is no need to waste things like that especially when you spent your own money on it.

Good choice to save the Jolly Ranchers. I wish you good luck on your required diet, I'll be praying and I know you can make it through this

PacmanandMariofan : Thanks! I've been doing well so far. Not feeling too deprived because there are still lots of good things I can eat! For pasta, I eat buckwheat noodles and for chocolate, I eat dark, with Stevia as a sweetner, as opposed to sugar.
