Back with another one.

Knack is a good game. Yes, I mean that. It was ridiculed by critics but the only reason I can find is that they wanted a mind blowing game with a bunch of next gen content and graphics at launch...and instead they got a nod back to old school games.

When you look at Knack for what it is: a simple game with straight forward gameplay that is accessible to all people, you can begin to appreciate it. I was first very much unimpressed, but by the time I got to chapter 3-1 I was really enjoying myself. It's not edgy, it's not chock full of tense moments, it's not an epic tale of power struggles and tragedy, and we don't see a bunch of bullets flying, but it is a good adventure game with undeniably solid controls and mechanics, a truly hardcore challenge (several actually) for those who want them, tons of unlockables, over 100 hours worth of gameplay for completionists, and a light hearted, family friendly, interesting tale of friendship, heroism, love, and a touch of betrayal.

Sorry folks, look at it as a game instead of a next gen tech demo, and you have a good game. I've personally sunk nearly seventy hours into it, and played it through three and a half (or four and a half) times, and plan on two and a half more playthroughs. Is it amazing? No, but it's simple good clean fun.

Ryan's Unpopular Gaming Opinions:

1. I'm perfectly fine with Nintendo's "rehashing." I enjoyed the first one, and I'm perfectly happy buying the same game with different levels. New Super Mario Bros Wii is one of my favorite games.

2. Call of Duty, Battlefield, and other generic FPS games that tend to get a bad rap don't really have bad multiplayer. The communities they have certainly aren't the best, but that doesn't detract from the experience all that often. If I were to get an Xbox or PlayStation, I wouldn't be against buying one.

3. Minecraft has a boring singleplayer experience. Even playing with friends, the default game gets stale fast.

4. Traveler's Tales' LEGO licensed game series is actually pretty good. I've put hundreds of hours into LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga.

5. The Assassin's Creed games aren't that fun past the main story.

Mine would be...

1. Bioshock 2 is my favorite Bioshock. I personally find it to have the best story as well as gameplay. I cried at the end.

2. Metroid Prime 2 is my favorite Metroid game, as well as my favorite game of all time.  I think the ammo system made the game much more tense, amazing boss battles, atmosphere, exploration, it nails it all for me.

3. I like Sonic Heroes, okay?? I played it as a kid and loved it. Same with Shadow the Hedgehog. I may be nostalgia blinded a small amount.

4. I think Manhunt 2 is fantastic. It's mostly known for its controversy, but the core game and storyline are awesome. The plot twist at the end shocked me.

5. I love Megaman Battle Network and Starforce. They're two of my favorite game series of all time.

6. I really don't like Mirror's Edge. I played it and while the atmosphere, music, and graphics were awesome, just about everything else was terrible. It was much more of a puzzle game than a freerunning platformer. Anytime you got speed going while running, you would be stopped. Also, the story was pretty throwaway.

7. I really like Spyro: A Hero's Tail. For me, it's the only post-PS1 spyro game worth playing. Along with the legend of spyro series, which wasn't too bad, either. Great plot. But not exactly a "spyro" game.

That's all I can think of at the moment. Anyone agree? Disagree?

Super mario bros. was an overrated game that played decently enough but was not a masterpiece by any means, it was graphically inferior to all the other launch titles.

Mine would be....call of duty. I tried getting into the game and I couldn't. I have seen my cousins play it. And I think. What's in the game apart from shooting and killing people? I just didn't get it, and I disliked it more when I see my brother stressing over something that shouldn't be. Halo is another one similar to call of duty.

I hope that I don't get hated for this. Another is minecraft. I dunno what's so good about the game to me. All I see is blocks...and more blocks. People that like it have their reasons. They see something that the dislikers don't see. Therefore love the game which I respect.

Eirinn : I don't mind harvest moon actually. I never got to fully play it before, but I do know that it is a nice and relaxing game to play. ^-^

People have their likes and dislikes. So the best thing is not to fight about it, and respect their opinion as of why not liking the game.

Petraplexity : I like garbodor from Gen 5, yeah I said it,

I also don't like majora's mask , at least as much as everyone makes it out to be

I like MOST  of the new Gen sonic games ( haven't played the boom series, and of course the exception would be 06)

and I'm fine with Scott Cawthon not opening the box in fnaf 4

I also think there needs to be a Steven universe game on a non IOS console

Ah, I've always liked being able to see how people really feel about popular gaming. Sometimes it feels like too many people will say something, just because everyone else is saying it. Before I get into my own list, let's just take a moment to realize that we small few were brave enough to swim against the tide-that-is popular opinion.

Below I will talk about 4 subjects.
  • Five Nights at Freddy's - Is it really that entertaining?
  • Call of Duty: Ghosts & Advanced Warfare - My 2 cents on the Call of Duty trends.
  • EA Games - I'm about to drop some Grade-A opinions on some people about EA.
  • Half-Life 3 - The game that died before it was ever released
Five Nights at Freddy's
So, if you follow some of the more well known youtubers, chances are you simply couldn't escape noticing Five Nights at Freddy's. From what I understand, this game has a very large following of people that love it. I have watched game play (I don't talk bad about things I don't understand), and I have even tried it on my phone. So, if there was only ever one FNAF, I'd probably say that it's a unique game and has it's niche crowd. Somehow, the games got multiple sequels. Okay, well at least it's changed right? Well, from what I've seen, no. The game's are almost identical. Well, if people love these games, obviously they're good right? See, this is where I'm confused. They do not seem fun. The game play is minimal, the story is arguably okay, the graphics aren't anything to write home about, and the jump scares (the meat of the game, seemingly) aren't scary after the first few.

So say what you will about the love you may have for FNAF, but I personally can not and most likely will not ever understand why it's got the following that it does. I conclude this opinion with a question for those who have played it: Question: If you have played FNAF, did you honestly enjoy it? If so, please explain what in particular makes the game appealing to you.

Call of Duty: Ghosts & Advanced Warfare
Okay, so it's ultra popular to bad talk Call of Duty in general. In specific, you almost always hear Ghosts being "the worst Call of Duty, ever." Alright, let's take a look at what we got in the kitchen for this one.

Call of Duty: Ghosts did not have the strongest story. I personally enjoyed it, but overall I can see why people disliked it. I would definitely argue that the story is by no means "bad" though. The multiplayer for me is where most of the drama seems to center. I'm sorry if my opinion bothers you, but the multiplayer is exactly what I thought I was getting. I am happier when I get what I expect, then when I get something "new" that doesn't work like expected. All maps and modes are opinion based, so I will leave that to the individual to "hate." I honestly ask though, point out what you truly hated, and I guarantee I will counter your argument with something just as bad (if not worse) from any Call of Duty of your personal choosing. I'm serious. If you hate one, you will hate them all after I point some stuff out.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare had a good story! I honestly liked it! What I didn't like, was the multiplayer. Due to the overwhelmingly large number of complaints about "Call of Duty never changing," we saw what was the biggest change in Call of Duty history. Now, you're probably thinking I'm talking about the boosters. If you thought that, you're only about 20% right. What I'm talking about is the loot system. For the first time, players would not be on a level playing field. Now, with hard work and dedication, you could get these glorious weapons sooner or later right? Well, I mean sure. This seems like an attainable and somewhat okay system that promotes replay value - and at least everyone else has the same odds. That is until Advanced Supply Drops. This is the ultimate red flag for me. You can not defend a game that you pay 60$ for the base game, 50$ for the season pass, and now you can buy the unfair advantage that is getting better weapon variants than your opponents? Your opponents payed the same $110 that you spent, but because you spend even more, you are now more entitled than them.

Summed up: Whenever I hear someone say that Call of Duty: Ghosts was the worst Call of Duty ever, I politely remind them that Advanced Warfare existed, and Ghosts really wasn't as bad as the YouTube comment bandwagon train would entertain.

EA Games
It's no secret that a large portion of the gaming community despises EA for it's business strategy. While there is merit in their complaints, I think that hating EA is simply silly.

Let's take a look at what one example developer have done this past year.

Evolve (published by 2K Games): Evolve is a game that features a 4v1 multiplayer. You can be the monster or one of the 4 hunters. Sounds cool right? Well.. Maybe if EA made it. What do I mean by that? The game came out with 20+ DLC's. Now, if I hadn't said it was by 2K, you'd immediately jump to the conclusion that EA made it. The game also features 2 season passes, which include 5 DLC each out of the whopping 60+ that have for sale. Okay, so let's pretend DLC's weren't even in this game, 2K only publishes quality games... right? No. You're wrong. The games servers are unstable at best, the game play since day 1 has been bug-filled, causing glitches ranging from incorrect textures, to you literally falling through the map and losing the game because the game said so. The amount of content in-game is low. The campaign is - just kidding, there is no campaign.

I say all that to say, if EA had published Evolve, you can bet your bottom dollar that this game would have been fixed up within a few weeks of release. There most likely would have been more content, too. Finally, the DLC of Evolve would have been more fair.

So do EA games charge you extra for extra content? Yes. Is the content of high quality? Yes. Do you feel like your purchase is worth it? Yes.
Those three yes's are why I dismiss anyone's hate towards EA games for releasing quality titles.

Half Life: 3
The running joke for some time: Half Life 3. Imagine if this game ever releases. The amount of hype built for this game is insane. This game will never be what everyone wants, and so in my opinion the game's incredible hype train has already caused the game to fail.

Let's take a quick look at those who want it really are though? How many people actually played the original two Half Life games? Not many. Which is weird, because from the astounding amount of hype, you'd expect that the game was more popular than The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. For this, I say that even if it was released, a large number of people who "wanted it" wouldn't even end up buying it - they were never really fans of the series anyways!

Concluding Statement
I have so many other unpopular gaming opinions, but it was just take way too long to state them all! If you agree, disagree, or are generally interested in something I said - let me know. I don't mind a healthy debate. If you plan on telling me EA is horrible, please have solid proof and make sure that other companies don't also do the same thing.

I'm not really sure if this is an unpopular opinion, but I actually liked the Kinect. At least, I liked it when it was used correctly. Sometimes some developers used it horribly, but sometimes it's great.

Okay, most developers.

Banjo & Kazooie Nuts and Bolts was the best game out of it's series

Krystal is the best character in Star Fox Assault.

Resident Evil 0 needed more love, would have been nice if Billy Coen made a return in a newer Resident Evil game.

Flibbith : cause I mentioned Billy Coen > . >  lol

I don't really like multiplayer. Some seem to just mash together something playable, for no reason other than to have multiplayer.

Like the PS3 Tomb Raider game. I loved the gameplay, but was massively disappointed at the Tomb Raiding aspect. You find a cave, solve a simple puzzle in, like, 5 minutes, and find an artifact that does nothing to the story. There's no reason to even collect them, unless you want Achievements. But, they spent a lot of money into making an unnecessary multiplayer, that's so unoriginal, it's just shoot the bad guys, pretty much. I'd rather they save their money, by not adding a hastily thrown together multiplayer, and put that money into making a better game.

Same with the Last of Us, great game, fantastic story, characters, everything, I love it. But they have a multiplayer option. I played a few hours, hated it, as it adds nothing new. I'd rather they make the levels in the game more non-linear or more massive, or something, instead of dumping a bunch of money into standard multiplayer matches.

It's like most games that come out, have to have a multiplayer option, or people won't even consider buying the game. That's the mentality I hate.

Also hate DLC. I know that's how they make more money, but back in my day, when you buy a game, you owned everything. Now, you buy the game, and after a while they dangle some shiny new content in your face, that you have to pay for. I usually just wait until they re-release the game, with DLC included. That way I only pay one price, instead of paying multiple times for the same game... Ugh, DLC...

To begin with, I'm not sure if any of my opinions are unpopular or not, I guess we shall see...

    1.  I hate real time strategy and rpg games, I know they are more "realistic" but I sorely miss the old turn based style.  Yes it
was a pain when playing multi-player having to wait for someone to complete their turn but I liked being able to methodically
choose may tactics and you could take your time and still finish your turn fairly quickly.  The difference between real time and
turn based is even more of a pain when playing single player in a campaign.  The computer can make lightning fast decisions
before you could even start to move.  There are very few good war strategy games to begin with, and most released are now
real time, which leaves me with very limited options...

    2. Multi-player sucks.  O.K., not completely but the current trend of releasing games with no single player campaign mode
is just dumb.  Yes multi-player can be fun but I find a game with no point other than to kill other players lacking.  In the past
I thoroughly enjoyed playing a games campaign from start to finish then, upon completion, when usually I am wishing I had
just one more stage, I switch over  to multi-player and can enjoy my game a bit longer.  No campaign equals no sale for me
(with the exception of the forthcoming Star Wars Battlefront which I am only buying because I am an avid Star Wars fan).

   3. And finally the opinion which may get me a ton of hate mail...Pokemon sucks!  I can see playing the first one and
maybe even the second but after the army of games they have released and re-released it just seems to have been
severely watered down.  Yes the first ones were fun, and probably still are but it seems to me that doing the same thing again
and again should get quite old quite fast.  Granted it along with Mario has probably kept Nintendo in business this last decade
but come on, aren't you guys a little tired of them yet?  Oh well I guess if it makes you happy play on, my youngest daughter
(18 yeas old) loves it and plays it pretty much daily and my oldest (23) also plays it often but alas, to me, it is highly
overrated (please don't kill me Poke-fans!).

Oh I dislike a lot of games that the majority of people seem to like.

I absolutely hate all shooting games. Call of Duty, Halo, all of that stuff. There should literally be no appeal in shooting other people. Games like that are sick.

I also don't understand the love that the Five Nights At Freddys franchise is getting. The jumpscares aren't even scary and the gameplay is repetitive and boring.

I'm a much bigger fan of the happy, fun games like Mario Kart.

I don't like how people are so quick to throw out the same 3 overused complaints about every game. We get it, it's a meme to hate Navi, and Sonic 06 is terrible. We've heard it a trillion times now. Say something else for a change!

I will never understand the appeal of Skylanders. It's a pain to play and watch. And the new game released every year like a certain other bland, generic, by the numbers game mentioned many times in this thread. *cough* COD *cough*

I think there needs to be a JRPG with modern graphics.

I ever liked the grimdark and edgy games. They really are just over the top dark to the point where you can't even take it seriously with most games. Very few have ever done it right. Plus, I personally prefer games with happier tones to them. Dark is fine every now and then, but light and dark need each other in order to function properly.

I say that I quit on FNAF, but ever since I discovered the channel, I listen to DAGames FNAF songs almost every day.

Seriously, why won't you just flush out of my brain FNAF T^T
And I also don't mind the tf2 updates for the whole "Free 2 play, pay to enjoy" thing, I mean you only pay to look cool with pink hats and lightningy weapons, what I mind is how they never take our advice. I mean, it's hard not to be mad when your consumers mass request something and you only focus on what you want, it is about the people who pay you after all. It would save alot of people being like OMG I HATE YOU I QIT 5EVER AND IM DELEING MY TWITTER GOODBY FOREVAR. (In fact this is an everyday occurrence in social media sites... wait what happened to mcmuffin? HE WHAT!? ಠ益ಠ)

I have a lot of unpopular opinions.

First off, I despise Microsoft. That might not seem like too big of a thing, what with the console wars and everything, but it'll still probably tick off the people who like Microsoft.Anyway, my main problem is their shady, profit focused tactics.Like, charging for multiplayer, which has resulted in Sony following suit (I think that's a reason so many games are multiplayer centric now, monthly payments), then there was the whole "can't play used games or even loan your games to a friend without someone paying us".I'm surprised they don't charge you for the case.

Second, I think Virtual on Marz is awesome. No, seriously.I used to put hours into getting enemy movement patterns down pat.Rushing around the field trying to fake out my opponent and looking for an opening.Ah, those were the days.

Thirdly and probably least popular:I think Nintendo is, at least partially responsible for the state Sonic has degraded to.Sega has been copying Nintendo pretty much since they decided to be "friends".Nintendo released Zelda:Twilight princess and Metroid Prime 2: Sega releases Sonic Unleashed.I know the weren't actually released in exactly that order, but, still. And everybody knows what Sonic Lost World is trying to be.

I have many unpopular opinions, but I'll stick with Legend of Zelda related stuff, since they're my most certain of controversial opinions.

  1. I actually heavily enjoy Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. It is not only a game that I would play plenty of times over, but I even enjoy the steep difficulty of Death Mountain. Still unjustified from a general gaming and design perspective, but I enjoy that area a lot.
  2. I really don't like Ocarina of Time. Or any 3D Zelda game, for that matter. To me, they were too slow-paced, too repetitive in fights, and overall had a lack of real gameplay enhancement that justified Legend of Zelda going to the third dimension to begin with. I thought Skyward Sword would have changed that, but dowsing and a horrific support character ruined what was otherwise a really fun game, especially from the combat perspective.
  3. There is a VAST overload of Zelda remakes out there. Seriously, Wind Waker did not need an HD remake this early. The N64 titles are acceptable to be remade, but the Gamecube had smooth models. Even one more console generation would've made a difference to this opinion.
  4. Legend of Zelda, as a series, is a great series; it is not, however, masterful, in my eyes. I think it's a great gem, and it did many things right, but I still fail to see the fruits of its move to 3D, which is one of my biggest questions to the series as a whole.

I also think that Nintendo is behind the times and out of touch with gamers today. Nintendo keeps churning out new Mario games so often that it's ridiculous.

Nintendo bombed super hard with the Wii U and seems to be releasing a new handheld system, NX I think it's called, just to get some of the sales back.

Also, Americans are too damn caught up in shooting games, even hybrids like Fallout 4 and BioShock. Those types of games are eating at the gaming industry and promoting things like pre-order bonuses and DLC on-disc. If people would put down their gunning games then they could find games with an actual story and actual content.

Well to me, I have multiple unpopular gaming opinions of mine, a couple of these unpopular gaming opinions would be,1.) POKEMON,Pokemon needs to roll over and die. It's completely to repetitive and each Pokemon game in the franchise is just too similar and at it's core the same. The series of Pokemon games has been dragged on far to long and has just gotten to the point of loosing interest for fans of the classic first and second generations. While they do make really good remakes of the original games I feel as though the series has just gotten stale, bland and generally a bore to try to continue to play. 2.) MARIO, mario has lost its luster and basically it's focus. Mario has way to many abilities and the stages just seem repetitive, in the new Mario games just feel rushed without much plot put into them. 3.) All mainstream game franchises such as Zelda,Kirby,Pokemon,Mario,(Pokemon),Call of duty,Halo,Gears of War etc. just need to die and be retired so that way the gaming industry can put out some fresh new game series for the latest generation and produce better titles and games like what was seen from mostly all of the game titles from the NES era of gaming, games that where so unique and diverse you just couldn't compare them to one another.

These are just a few of my unpopular gaming opinions...
