What are some of the better lesser known rpgs/adventure rpgs?
I dont know if it counts but i loved the EVO game, although it was disappointing becoming a caveman, who wants to be a caveman when i used to be a big dinosaur with giant teeth and claws and a tail to smash stuff. |

Chronicle of the Radia War. I'm almost certain i'm the only person on Vizzed who knows what that game is.
It was AMAZING, it's my favorite RPG after my Mario & Luigi: SuperStar Saga/ Final Fantasy VI Adv./ MOTHER3 tie. |

Hm. I wonder if anyone here plays Nostalgia? It's rather recent, so the odds are higher for others to be playing it.

the Phantasy Star series on sega and sega genesis.
It's probably in the RGR. Good games. Especially the 4th one. I think the 4th one might be my favorite RPG of all time. Not because it's the "best" ever but I just enjoy it the most. |

Another overshadowed 8-bit RPg is EarthBound Zero. EarthBound and EarthBound 2 (Mother3) Are far more hyped and more famous.

Hmm, some of these I think are pretty well known RPGs (Super Mario RPG, Phantasy Star series) or not really RPGs at all (E.V.O.)
I don't know about in America, but here a really good but not well known RPG was the Lufia series. The 2nd one, Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals was the only one released here, but I got it and enjoyed it alot. Fortunately it being the second game didn't ruin anything because it is also a prequel
Another less known RPG that is awsome is Terranigma. It is sort of a spiritual sequel to Illusion of Time/Illusion of Gaia, being that it's by the same company and dev team with similar ideas (there's even an easter egg in the game where a character calls the game Illusion of Gaia 2). |

The phantasy star series is AWESOME!!! But my favorite least-known is definitely Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals. Once I started that game, my entire week was shot, literally lol.

I think that Skies Of Arcadia Legends is a pretty underrated game.
It is an awesome game that came out in the DreamCast, but it was remade in the GameCube. Skies Of Arcadia is a unique game filled with adventurous journeys while traveling the skies. You can lvl up your people through epic storylines and fight them against evil, strong bosses. It is an Epic game, truly awesome.

Personally, I loved the RPG The Last Remnant for the 360. The game had the most interesting battle system i've ever seen. A good story however you had to get past the lackluster graphics and lag. But it was never really that terrible.
Also, I'd say the original Chrono Trigger. I like that game but it seemed to only catch on drastically in Japan. Maybe I'm wrong? |

I would say Shining Force, but it is more of a tactical RPG... There was one for the PS2 called Okame, Shadow King. Its about this boy whose shadow is taken over by an ancient King who threatens him into going out and fighting the other Shadow Kings.... Good Japanese RPG, with quirky graphics, music, and such. It can most likely be had for cheap and just never got and advertising.

Steambot Chronicles, it is a small time RPG from Japan (wasn't that big over there either) released on PS2. It is a steampunk (Industrial Era with big robots, guns, etc.) RPG about this kid who wakes up with total amnesia. It had heavy musical influences, it has 20-some instruments playable with the standard dual-shock, and the music is really good as well.
Another lesser played RPG is Chrono Cross. It is a spin off of Chrono Trigger that not near as many people have played. It was released on the PS1, and it is slightly more common than the SNES version of Chrono Trigger. |
