Should they give away free musical instruments to those that really want to play and learn an instrument?

Tbh I am not sure. I think it is a good idea but most kids in my school who get free ones tend to be the ones who break things and get in trouble. So I think if you get a free musical instrument you should have to have like a responsibility check.

No.

My schools provided us instruments to use but they were not new and we didn't get to keep them after we were done at the school.

I this would be a ridiculous expense for any school to take on for a small portion of the school population.

I don't think that it is possible especially when instruments are very pricey and expensive to buy. Normally when you give away something, it often gets misplaced or broken. My previous schools gave old instruments for the students to play in order for them to gain experience and practice. Unless the funding for schools dramatically increases in the music departments, free musical instruments given to students isn't possible.

In my experience, something that is "free" is usually completely neglected. I could agree to a year-long program of lease since the student would have to bring back the instrument in good condition or pay for the repair.
