Because I started puberty so early (I had acne at age 10) I started growing hair early too. In grade 6 everyone would tease me about the "mustache" I had. After much pressure all around me I shave it.

However in grade 10 a guy from my class grew his beard over the Holidays and it fitted him well. Hey, if someone else can do it why not me? So except for very rare occasions I've always been with facial hair since about age 15.

Around that time too I started shaving my head more often. At first it was during the summer so our hair (my brother did it too) would be easier to wash. But then I started loving it; and since my father wouldn't let me shave as I wished for the prom picture I paid to get shaved. It was very short in retrospect but I think it still looks good.

When I did that exchange trip I tried to grow a pony tail. I did... but it's such a hassle to maintain! Especially with wavy hair like I have; it's not curly but it's not straight either. I completely changed when I met Honey, who wanted me to have a haircut. Ever since, I've been keeping a fauxhawk.

Elsewhere on my body I've only shaved once or twice when I found (thought I found?) lice. The problem seems to have disappeared and I hope it won't come back; shaving my legs is too difficult.

What about you? How do you deal with hair? Do you shave because you like it or because you feel some kind of social pressure?

I absolutely hate shaving, even just shaving my mustache and beard is a pain, but I do it anyway because of social pressure. Even though I know I don't look good with a mustache, I sometimes just don't even bother shaving until someone says something about it. Someday, I may just say "screw it" and never shave again, but I don't know when that may be or if I'll even do it.

Well, for a beard and mustouche, I shave every month. It looks really cool on me, but trust me, getting your tag chain stick in your hair and trying to get it out hurts a lot.

janus : I'd shave, but that's just because the way my hair grows. I like my hair decently long. If I had a beard or mustache, I'd look like a creepy Link/Ganondorf freak of nature.

I have only shaved my face ever mostly because of work and having to be clean shaven.
One summer I wanted to get a tan, so I shaved my legs, but I don't think I will be doing that ever again. If I want to do something like that again, I will be getting a full body wax.

SilverHyruler : You could still be a hipster . I see people with "weird" styles all the time, and yet I also see similar people in "the news" when the subject is fashion.

gamerforlifeforever2 : Amen! Now I trim because having too long a beard gets annoying - I eat the hairs, it takes too long to get dry, it gets frosted - but the shaving always cuts my skin. Whatever kind of manual razor (even with the battery) always bloodies my skin and it burns.

zanderlex mustouche? Where do you grow that But I get the sticking part. Before I bought proper elastic bands for my long hair I used regular elastics to tie my hair. Man did it pull hard!

I am happy that I dont want to grow a beard since even if I would want one, I could not get one. I shave every other two weeks maybe, just to not too look too pathetic. If I would be an orthodox jew or a greaser, I would be outcast for sure, since it looks like there aint no way in heck I would ever get any hair where there should be sideburns.

I tried a beard for a year, and it just doesn't look that good.

Since, I've had jobs that frown on crazy facial hair, so I shave 3-4 times per week.

I hear ya on the wavy hair, too!  My hair is wavy, and it's just not worth growing out.  I like to keep it pretty short.  I'd be interested to try a fauxhawk like you, though.  That sounds pretty neat!  What do you use to keep it hawked up?

I do a clean shave every other day.

I can pull off a little bit of facial hair, but I prefer a clean look.

Have you tried the mustache, or is it just something you're thinking about?

I think it really depends on the person, many times a mustache doesn't look great, but sometimes it does. As a pony tail, I really don't think they look good on guys, but that's just me. And as for the rest of your body... I say just leave it, it's natural. I mean, if it's getting very very long, trim your armpit or something, but in my opinion there's no reason to get rid of the rest.

To each his own, though.

Light Knight : When I trim my beard I always end with the mustache... man it looks ugly! I guess I don't have the right face/age for that.

janus : I avoid shaving my legs as much as I can, because the stubble that grows back is BEYOND itchy, causing me to scar myself. Luckily my leg hair is fairly light so I can get away with it. I just hate it when people make a big deal about girls needing to shave since it's a social norm. Also, my boyfriend started growing a beard in middle school, and he rocked it, even though it was uneven xD I started puberty really early too, and got made fun of because of my acne. I still struggle with it today because I either don't have the proper skin care product or I can't maintain a routine to keep my skin clean.

GreenUnicornPugs : Acne has more to do with hormones than skin care. Before taking Acutane I took a weaker medicine that worked for a while... but I guess testosterone got the best of it.

As for your hair: your body, your choice. Of course, your choice might... trouble some, but if you're OK with it then screw them

So far I have never had any interest in growing a mustache or a beard. I shave my facial hair about once a week so that I don't even have a little bit of a mustache or a beard. I've never liked the way hair feels on my face so I would be pretty irritated if I attempted to grow a lot of facial hair.

However, I would like to have a lot of facial hair when I am an adult (probably sometime in my 20's or later).

I also started to grow hair very early. What was worse is that, because of my laziness, I didn't even bother to shave it that often, so it was always there.

Nowadays, I still shave it from time to time, normally when I have a meeting with family or friends.

I've only cared shaving my body recently, by a friend's request to (try to) be more attractive for girls when we go out. I ditched out the shaving cream in favor of a hair clipper, it goes much more smoothly and in less time. It doesn't really eliminate the hair, and probably isn't the best for the touch, but the results are worth a try.

Originally, the hair clipper was meant to trim my head hair. Since I like short hair, the hair clipper comes in handy. And since it can trim hair at a great variety of lengths, I decided to expand the concept.

EX Palen : That's how the hair clipper started for me too. I also use it to trim my beard and (on occasion) other body parts as well. It just feels lighter.

PacmanandMariofan : be careful when letting your beard grow. In early college I came to realize how ugly my beard was by looking at my student ID card. Even since I trim it about once a month
