My dad really loves Tom Jones' music. He'd play it in the car and turn the windows down when he picked me up from places, like one of those hipsters you see on the road with flowers hanging from the roof of their car. I think that motivated me to ride my bike more, lol. Well, my Mom just listens to old Korean Christian songs... So, uh... Not really into that. My Dad listens to lots of 60's-80's music, which I am into. Things like Freddy Fender, Bee Gees, Marty Robbins, Lou Rawls, and Bob Marley. Where my tastes differ, I do like early 90's music, some J-pop, and pretty anything that has a Chinese Fiddle (Seriously, there are youtube videos that just play Chinese Fiddle music for hours, and I listen to that.). Oh, and of course, music from video games. One of my sister's friends had asked me what kind of music did I listen to. I told him I like video game music. And he responded, "Oh, you mean like beeps and boops?" ... ... ... Like, from that answer, I'm pretty sure he thought everyone only played NES games... Oh, and he was dead serious, I thought he was joking at first... So, I just kind of walked away, no joke. XD My Dad listens to lots of 60's-80's music, which I am into. My parents are total opposites in terms of musical taste. My dad listens to 80's music mainly. Just whenever we're in the car. My mom likes Christian music. Sometimes the kind that makes you want to fall a My tastes, personally, are kind of in between the two. I like a little of both, but I prefer VGM to anything else. Dad has always been a huge fan of Classic Rock and Country. While I don't necessarily mind classic rock, both mom and I hate country with a passion. Dad haaaaates the stuff I listen to though (namely VGM). He usually calls it boring and walks away. Mom on the other hand actually likes some of my stuff, especially Zelda. She's also into 90's Pop, which I kind of like sometimes. Tl:dr, my parents and I don't really get along at all when it comes to music. My Dads music tastes used to be cool. Rolling Stones, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd then a little more "modern" bands from the time like Rush and Van Halen ....those types of bands. But in his older years...he's switched to listening to mostly Fusion Jazz and Country, which makes me literally want to hurl.
With my mom, by the time I could remember, she was listening to mostly 80s hard rock/metal. Guns N Roses, Bon Jovi...that sort of stuff. I've heard the Appetite for Destruction Album by GNR so much, I couldn't even begin to put a number on it. She wore out more than one cassette tape lol With my mom, by the time I could remember, she was listening to mostly 80s hard rock/metal. Guns N Roses, Bon Jovi...that sort of stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIezSkSPT0w I love that song. So many times I feel that Christian music, is nothing but a lukewarm product sold because people will buy it. There's no variety in it at all. This song is different, carries a REAL tune and beat. I can tell this guy made it from his heart, and wants to rock it. I love it, even if I can name several songs that are better, but that's because of the times we're living in. Music is just more full nowadays, better technology. Also, I could think of a really good rock song about Abraham, if only we could get Crush40 to do it. But then again, Crush40 has hidden a few messages in their music that I could point out. Often very subtle, but it's so frequent, even landing on the name of their albums. Why would you call the Black Knight soundtrack, Face to Faith? What does that have to do with the game? Forget the part that Crush40 was once called "Sons of angles" We can't have anything Christian in our video games! "There's a face searching so far, so far and wide, there's a place you'd dream you'd never find, hold onto what if! Hold onto what if!" No way that's referencing Heaven, and the fact that Shadow might meet Maria again. Sword all your theories are great till you logically deduct that the reference is Biblical! Of course that Sonic, the A.R.K. and Chaos have nothing to do with it! You're crazy! Gamin'Gal : Sounds like my parents. I personally enjoyed showing my dad the Sonic Unleashed soundtrack- he commented that it sounded like Disney. Which is funny, I swore after Sonic Unleashed I wanted Sega to just make some sort of Sonic Movie with Sonic Team. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIezSkSPT0w I love that song. Unfortunately both my parents' taste in music changed drastically with the past 10 years.
My dad grew up listening to classic rock; Led Zepplin, The Doors, Aerosmith, etc. My mom liked Elvis.... My dad is now into some weird depressing music whereas my mom likes Christian music. My parents seem to be on opposite ends of the "taste spectrum". Whereas my mom only listens to classic rock and 80s techno, my dad listens to loads of modern hip hop and pop. I affiliate way more with my dad in terms of taste- we're virtually identical. Whereas my mom only listens to classic rock and 80s techno, my dad listens to loads of modern hip hop and pop. I guess I do share similar tastes with them and probably would have never even liked music at all if it hadn't been for them but o hadn't started listening to music on my own free will until after I left them. They would always have me listen to music with them even though I didn't like to but it got me interested in music. |

My mom's taste in music isn't so bad. She likes a lot of rock music and a little bit of other stuff.
My dad though, his taste used to be cool, but ever since he re-married he started listening to fusion jazz(yuck) and cruddy country music. Both of which I find totally HORRIBLE lol. My parents are in their 70s. Both are still with us thankfully. I definitely appreciate their music more than they do mine. As I've gotten older I even listen to real oldies. Like 1950-1970s tunes. Buddy Holly to Woodstock. Not a really big fan of the Beatles though. At least after they stopped cutting their hair anyways. 'Imagine' that. My dad was into a lot of different music. He had The Rolling Stones, Hank Williams Sr, A bunch of hippy music like the soundtrack for the movie 'Hair' (which is awesome BTW), and then Bob Marley?. My mom pretty much sticks with her oldies form when she was in high school. They don't share my appreciation for punk and metal. My dad used to like some rap that I would play waay back in the day. I remember jamming Kool Moe Dee with him. Nowadays my dad is always putting on bluegrass. Not really my favorite but it's tolerable. I mean, it's no Skrillex...jk I do like that one song though. You know, the one with the drum beats. |

My mom likes Linkin Park, and that's as heavy as she'll go. She also likes Coldplay and Ed Sheeran. My dad likes a lot of rock metal whatever stuff. I'm on my dad's side more than my mom's, but my music taste is related to my dad's. I like the band KONGOS, and a lot more of stuff like that. Not, I repeat, NOT country music. Soft rock, not screechy guitar drummy blob of something. I'm on my dad's side more than my mom's, but my music taste is related to my dad's. I like the band KONGOS, and a lot more of stuff like that. I share a lot of music tastes with my parents. Mom loves Scooter even more than I do. She also likes trance music, and also likes to hear it loud. Even though she got 60 a few weeks ago, she is still young at heart, and seemingly will be for several years. Dad is more of 80s music, but that's not a bad thing. I inherited his liking of Modern Talking, but more than anything, his love for Jean Michel Jarre. In some occasions, he may like the 90s dance music, and I also connect with that. For my parents, they both listen to different things. My Mother, she listens to a lot of classic rock and classic pop from the 1980's and 1990's, and her favorite person she listens to is Michael Jackson. She isn't too interested into listing to current stuff, although she does once in awhile, but it's rare. The bands she listens to is Michael Jackson, Kid Rock and a few other bands. My Father in the other hand listens to a lot of Country music and some Rock bands (only Southern and 60's/70's rock). I think he mostly listens to that because he being a truck driver and truck drivers listen to that kind of music driving down the road. The bands he listens to is The Steve Miller Band, Bob Seger, Eagles, Rascal Flats, Toby Keith, and a few other bands. My parents could not listen to more different things I don't think. My mum listens to the worst of the worst of old (ish) pop music from whenever which is mainly just singles from The X-Factor's winners, ABBA, Filipino pop (because she is from the Philippines), more ABBA, and whatever my little brother listens to, because according to my parents, or at least my mum: My brother listens to good music, which I know is just modern pop stuff which is just lazy and intentionally addictive songs to make as much money as is inhumanly possible. My dad on the other hand listens, nowadays, to.. I don't know to be honest. I know for sure he used to listen to old rock and punk, like The Clash and Sex Pistols to much more obscure bands even I haven't heard of. He also tries to keep cool with my brother and listen to horrendous pop music of today but I'm pretty sure, and really hope, he doesn't like it. From past experiences, I'm pretty sure he doesn't. For example at every party we ever go to ever. The end. However, he's also listened to pop. Not today's pop, but more pop from about 50 years ago or so, which is probably just the music he knew as a kid, and in all honesty, I cannot name a single band of that category he likes. But I know he has a lot of records, so believe me! My dad on the other hand listens, nowadays, to.. I don't know to be honest. Yes and no. When I was growing up, I liked a lot of heavy rock and heavy metal and a bit of rap and other things, where as my dad have always liked country. Now, I have much expanded in my tastes, getting into more electronic type music (though the only one I can actually place a specific genre for is dubstep), some lighter more relaxing music (classical like), and ironically enough, MLP music (I say its ironic as I used to always hate the kind of music you would find in musicals, but after starting to like the show, I got used to it). I do enjoy some country like my dad, but not all the time (especially since country today sucks, it used to be good). Though, I have always enjoyed my moms music, I don't listen to often, but I do love me some 80s rock (but I guess that is from living with my mom when I was real young). |

Yes and no. I share a lot of my dad's taste of music (I have a soft spot in my heart for Irish trad thanks to him.) We tend to listen to the same singers. MEANWHILE, I HATE my mother's taste in music with a burning passion. She listens to, I kid you not, Eminem, 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, etc. She also has an irritating love of Ed Sheeran. This woman is in her LATE 40s. It flummoxs me.The funny thing is, she thinks my taste in music is awful. It's really annoying because she keeps trying to force me to listen to her music.
