You aren't born a farmer, but the choices made are made out of preconceived ideas. Ttherefore, when I elect a government official,  I will elect it based off of someone who supports my belief, has a hands off approach to my belief... and I wouldn't elect someone who said, "I hate Christians."

janus : The Bible only says anything about one Government... A Theocracy. That's the only one that is mentioned... It doesn't say anything about free market economies... But it would help the farmers if they would obey the rules that the Bible writes, such as the Sabbath of the land. 

SilverHyruler... I don't think that there the same. It has to do with Big Government vs Small Government. More is not always better... I was making the point that there are other ways that the people could protect things such as the land without government intervention. That was it, plain and simple. 

Also, I would suggest leaving remarks about Trolling out of a discussion, as that doesn't help or add to it. That is in essence just saying that your dumb or something like that. I don't take it personally, I just thought I would warn you about stuff like that. (It could lead to flaming... For some.)

Brigand : That's basically how I see life. I'm a philosophical anarcho-capitalist and believe that people can function "perfectly" well without a menace of coercion at every corner. After all, no central government gave us importance scientific discoveries... and innovations that do "come" from government were usually for destruction at first (radar, laser, nuclear). It took private initiative to get peaceful uses.

SilerHyruler: I am for a government that has a "hands-off" approach. They do little, make sure the clock is ticking, protect the people, and stay out of the people's business.

Sure I have. I dare almost not to think about it. Whatever it would be, it would not work. Like any concept of having cops.

darthyoda : Although I admit seeing *some* purpose for a government-maintained police force, I can't help but think that it has gone way, way too far. Government keeps growing, and with its numerous unjust laws comes more police force, whose SOLE role is to uphold the law, NOT defend citizens (per a Supreme Court judgement).

In short, if the "monopoly of force" is still to exist, it needs to be WAY more transparent. The police is completely unaccountable and literally gets away with murder nearly all the time.

When I talk about protect, I am talking about protection from the outside. i.e. Germany attacking, China, Russia etc. If any foreign government attacks a trained force NEEDS to meet them. If it weren't for the government, who could coordinate it. They (the government) are there to protect us. Also, to protect citizens from criminals. Police are for that. 

Government has gone too far, but that isn't a problem with government, it's with the people. The people want(ed) the government to give free hand-outs, and that's why the government grows... It's because people are irresponsible. You are in control, if you ask them to give you money, economic protection etc, then they grow to accommodate that, but they also ask for a freedom.

And I can only partly agree with your assessment of the situation. Yes, government gave free handouts... but that's the nature of government to sustain itself: convince 51 percent that they can live off the other 49 percent. Just like regular people politicians are rational beings (believe it or not) and in their self-interest - here, getting more and more power for themselves.

That's caused by "rational" ignorance: getting ALL the information is just beyond the average citizen. Even I, who writes about the excesses of government for a living, can't say I know everything there is to know. However, I do realize the general fishiness...
