Hello I'm 18mlivingston and this is my first review on this site criticism is appreciated but I will use flames to cook my barbecue
now on to the review you have all be waiting for.

Introduction: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team was released for the Gameboy Advance on September, 18, 2006 and was released to fill the two year gap between the next main series Pokémon games now known as Fire Red and Leaf Green I think. There were two games released in that two year gap (or three if you count the other version). The first was Pokémon Trozei and later came the game that was in my opinion one of the greatest games to ever grace us with it's existence. That game would be Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team that was developed by Chunsoft (or Spike Chunsoft as it is known now) this game gave us a game that differed drastically from the main series unlike the main games the game was a dungeon crawler. For those who do not know what a dungeon crawler is it is basically a game where you travel through randomly generated levels until you die or you get to the end of the dungeon. Now that you know the information about the game let me start my review now.

Graphics: The games graphics are fantastic for the GBA most NPC's sprites have very good detail and there animations are nice and fluent. But it is not perfect I will admit that some sprites are a little choppy but that is to be expected from a game where there are over 300 character sprites. Next to talk about the graphics in the maps the maps look nice and have distinguishing characteristics that you cannot forget that easily from the dungeons to the home location I can guarantee that you will remember every dungeon just from looking at it's tileset. Now how is the cutscenes since most of the cutscenes use the regular sprite for the character there is not much to look at in terms of cutscenes but Chunsoft makes the most of it by using the sprites animations to convey their emotions as best as possible. Overall the graphics are great but they are not perfect they lack in a few areas but no game is perfect in terms of graphics so that is why I give the graphics a 8 out of 10.

Sound: Now some of you may be asking "How is the sound?" that is a very simple answer it is amazing and here are the reasons why. If there is one thing a game needs is good music and this game pull this off flawlessly in every regard every song is original and fits with the area. Also it tells you what to feel in a certain situation I'm not going to spoil anything about the story so I won't give you a example you have to witness it for yourself only then will you understand the shear amazing power of the sound. Overall the sound is used to convey emotion and atmosphere and this game pulls this off flawlessly which is why I'm giving the sound a 10 out of 10.

Addictiveness: Now "how addicted will I get to this game?" you may ask I can't really answer that for you but I can tell you how addicted I am to this game. This game can be addicting to some but may not to others it all just depends on the players taste in games but if you want my opinion I would say that this game is very addicting. This game knows how to motivate me it provides a challenge that I must overcome and most of the time it is very hard but the feeling of beating it more than makes up for the challenge how would I describe it its kinda like a lesser version of beating 4/20 mode on FNAF. This game will present you with a lot of challenges and will push you to your limits but if you are persistent you will overcome it and the feeling of overcoming it is well worth it knowing that you cleared it and isn't that what a gamer does conquer hard challenges. So overall this game can be addicting to you or not it all depends on how much persistence you have so I'm giving the addictiveness a 5 out of 10.

Story: Now "How is the story that is one of the most important parts of any video game?" that is a short question with a really long answer so let me say it. The story is almost if not better than the main series in every aspect it is probably the most story driven Pokémon game I have ever played in my entire life. The whole premise of the game is that you wake up one day next to a Pokémon who will soon be a partner. You have no memory of who you were other than your name and you two talk for a while getting to know each other then a Pokémon comes along asking for help to find it's child you and your partner go to go rescue the child. After you rescue him and you are rewarded and you go to your soon to be team base because you have no place to stay in this world. You and your partner form a Pokémon Rescue Team which is basically a team of Pokémon that's job is to help other Pokémon in need of help or other kinds of assistance and thus you and your partner are thrusted into a world of adventure and mystery (hah title pun). Now I can't tell you the entire story because that would ruin the experience but trust me this is a game you need to play if your looking for a good story. Overall the story is one of the greatest ones I have seen in a Pokémon game and will hook you if the gameplay does not that is why I'm giving this game a 10 out of 10.

Depth: Now "How Much Content is there and how much is in the post game?" The answer to that is simple there is a decent amount and I will explain this in as much detail as possible without spoiling anything. You see after beating the main story you have access to more dungeon as long as you meet certain requirements and there are even extra stories after that are also triggered when certain requirements are met. But after you do all of those there is not much to do after that and that disappointing me but what are you gonna do at least you beat the game and you can still rescue Pokémon in need so technically the game never ends. So overall there is a decent amount of post game content and extra dungeon that will keep you busy for a while but after you do that there is not much else to so that is why I'm giving the depth a 6 out of 10.

Difficulty: Finally "How is the difficulty is it to hard or easy?" that my friend is a very good question in fact it's not hard or easy it's both. You see the game starts out pretty easy but gradually gets harder till it is really hard then after that it gets easier giving you time to rest before it kicks the difficulty up again. But in the story mode the game is at it's hardest when in the final dungeon everything is on your butt from the very beginning and there is little to no time to rest so I recommend bringing a lot of items with you just in case things get too difficult to handle on you own. Now if you want the hardest dungeon in the game look no further then the Ultimate Dungeon (not really it's name but that is what it is referred as) it is a 99 floor dungeon where you can take no items with you and worst of all you have to start at level 1 so all your stats are reset but don't worry that is only for this dungeon your original stats will return upon exiting the dungeon but this dungeon is not for the faint of heart I haven't even beaten it is that hard. So the difficulty fluctuates between easy and hard until it finally rests on hard and trust me it is hard when it stops so overall I give the difficulty of this game a 6 out of 10.

Conclusion: This game is perfect for a person looking for a Pokémon game that strays from the main series or a person who just wants a good story. This game is the reason I still love Pokémon today and if you are about to stop playing Pokémon play this game before then and see if after you still want to quit playing. So overall this game is fantastic and should be played by fans and non-fans alike this one of the many hidden gems in the GBA library and should not be overlooked so I ask you to give this game a go you may just like it this concludes my review.

So how was it was it good for a first review please tell me :3

Great review, way better than mine :3

Went over everything I think, stopped reading at the end. Doesn't seem that biased, but I personally don't think that all the 10's are legit. My opinion though.

Overall, a really great review. I'll be hoping for more

I almost beat it, I was near rayquaza but I was using cubone so I couldn't hurt most enemies. The worst thing is that I couldn't use a speed up because I was using my cartridge.
