Greetings to the wrestling fans of Vizzed! I have decided to take a chance to see WWE NXT since it is much more entertaining than WWE RAW and Smackdown. Yesterday, I decided to watch from WWE NXT Takeover Rival to the present to see how it runs and produces to the audience. I must say that I made the right decision and it got me really interested in what it really has to offer in overall. Here are some observations that I have made after watching some episodes of WWE NXT: Pros:

Better than RAW, that's about all I have to say about that.
NXT isn't three hours long, NXT doesn't regurgitate crap to us and expect us to like it, and NXT tells its story in the ring. The Sami Zayn/Adrian Neville feud was beautiful in its execution, and then to have the Kevin Owens curve thrown in really painted the perfect picture for continuation. It gives Sami the chance to be the underdog going for the title again, without hurting his popularity or his ranking within the NXT hierarchy. If the RAW writers were writing the feud, they'd have had Sami Zayn win on his first attempt against Neville, then have him steamroll Owens, burying him, because you "can't have the champion look weak". Sometimes, looking weak is part of the story. NXT isn't afraid to take chances and try something new, and they really have to take chances, given their programming is about the third of the length of RAW. I don't really see many cons to NXT. The ones you talked about, I don't see. The roster is pretty much the perfect size for something meant to showcase developmental talent. One guy comes in, one guy goes out, one comes in, one comes out. They do a generally good job of mixing things up, all things considered. One has to remember that the reason NXT exists is to give the top guys developmentally a chance to show they are ready for more work and to improve upon the WWE wrestling style. Guys who aren't as ready stay in the Performance Center until they ARE ready. And I think that's best for us, the fans, because we don't get sloppy wrestling matches, generally. The short matches aren't a downside, they are a benefit, not only does this allow them to showcase the most talents, but going back to what I discussed above, it allows them to get more comfortable with the WWE style. Doing a quick 5 minute thing may seem like nothing, but in those five minutes, countless moves will be done. In those five minutes, many mistakes can be made by wrestlers still adapting to the style. Guys like Itami, who have all the talent in the world, and were incredible elsewhere, could have struggles adapting to the WWE (like Itami had at first, though lately, he's been better). On top of this, it allows NXT to be a short program that is able to hold the attention span of the audience. It's easy for the audience to get excited when they aren't sitting there for three hours, waiting to see the one match they wanted to see. If anything, RAW could learn from NXT here as well. The Roster Transfer, isn't on NXT. It's on WWE as a whole. NXT is more or less run by HHH. RAW/Smackdown are run by Vince McMahon. The problem isn't the shows themselves... the problem is who is running things. #FireVince. Once Vince is gone, I actually imagine RAW and Smackdown will more closely resemble NXT, and that's best for everyone. legacyme3 : Vince will be gone from managing the WWE soon. Hopefully things will be different afterwards. I really like the wrestlers and the story lines by the way it is built. After watching some NXT episodes, I liked most of the wrestlers in general which really says a lot especially from a few episodes. I really love the potential and environment of what NXT has to offer and I am looking forward to watch more! |

I really haven't watched much of NXT due to lack of having the Network, but from the stuff I saw NXT is just awesome! Roster is small but people like Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, Hideo Itami, and others make it shine. In opinion, the best thing about NXT is the women's division. They just blow away a majority of the main roster's Diva division. My friend and I are trying to go to a NXT Live event as well, too. Hopefully we can make the long drive there. |
